Adding pieces to my recent work which is based on the role gender plays in interpreting political statements.

The views shown are not my own words but are statements I've obtained from on line and they are applied to fabric using differing techniques.

The face has been taken from my sketch book and printed on to silk and then I added stitch and fabric.

The words have been edged with wire.

using ric-rac's fabric bucket tutorial, englarged to super big sizes!!

Some stitch patterns on my new piece in the series called "Confinement".This one will have the subtitle of "Anxiety"

I have carefully chosen bright colours for this condition as I felt that dark ones signified depression and gloom.

The patterns are evolving as I go along - spiky, circular, triangles, square or spiral.

The background stitching will be small circles in a neutral colour.

Lots done today but much, much more to do.

... made some little LOVEbirds to be springlike bag charms! :)

Today I stitched some scrap pieces of paper to a dried up old wet wipe which I had previously used to wipe up some paint, and then I over painted it with pigment paint and rubbed it with gilding wax.

I then stitched petal shapes on to the piece, cut them out, and reassembled them into flowers.

I have added an image of one of the flowers to the centre of the scrap paper - it measures around 3 inches in diameter.

420 mm high. Free machine embroidered over woven and non-woven interfacings using rayon and polyester embroidery threads Features the female and male Tasmanian masked owls (Tyto novaehollandiae subsp. castanops)

A kind friend has given me a new foot for my sewing machine. It is spring loaded and is a dream to use whilst machine embroidering.

I used to have one, but when it broke I couldn't find a replacement.

What a gift.

Then after Mircalla's clothes I bought one embroidery file from a site, and thought it was pretty so I tried it on some heavy brown fabric (think sofa weight!) I made a smock (or however to call/spell it?) out of the embroidery result and it went pretty good, considering the thickness of fabric. The blouse is old FB blouse.

The toadstools are made by me as well, by clay and paint. I want to make a fairytale forest landscape (as one of the shelves of Funny Bunny tower), but that project is sleeping now....

This was my first attempt at stitching on to knitting.

The flower is neither shrinking nor a violet!

It measures about 10 inches by 12 inches.

A finished piece ( the night before the exhibition)!

The story of how women can break out of the box - either the box imposed by society or the box of their own choosing.

This piece has a complex story in that it was not intended as a stand alone item, but rather as a transition piece which moves the story of women's loss of identity and confinement out of the area I have recently concentrated on.

I have moved from the shrouded androgynous figures of late on to a more gender specific image and I have allied it with some references to where I hope to be going with the series in the future.

It's rather unlike anything I've done recently but it's been satisfying ( if flawed ) piece.

About three foot square.

This will form part of the "Adhesion" exhibition which opens at the Weavers Gallery, Ledbury, Herefordshire tomorrow.

This image started out as a close up of a Marilgold flower. The result makes me think of intricate & delicate machine embroidery.

Technically name-brand pop-tarts don't have sprinkles, but I had to swatch some Spoonflower fabric as an alternate choice to applique onto these guys. The in-the-hoop toaster pastry is on my blog: silverseams.com/2023/05/pop.html

Trying out ideas for my new piece.

Machine embroidery on to chiffon and non woven interfacing with added paint and wonderweb.

This is my first time embroidering an Urban Threads design! Embroidery contest at Urban Threads www.urbanthreads.com/free_designs

However...........

My current piece is both.

Machine embroidery, die cut flowerstems, hand embroidery and paint

The base of this piece is a rectangular stretched canvas with applied paper and paint.

I added on top a very fancy "Sunday handkerchief" - the type that traditionally was only used for decoration when going to Church.

I added die cut fabric stems and then applied some fabric flowers which had been previously embroidered on a slip background.

On top of that I then added my machine embroidered foliage strip ( see previous post).

I will now be hand embroidering on top of these layers

A set of purses my own design and work.

Silk with a handmade cord and Velvet embroidery

This measures two inches across so isn't as small as some of the pieces I have been working on lately.

The image is an ink jet print, sourced from the internet, and is covered with an acrylic dome. The outside edge is a quickly worked machine embroidery edge with an inner piece created from some melted silk. I have added French knots worked in metallic thread.

This is destined for the front cover of my sketch book which will be on display, together with my exhibition piece, at the NEC in Birmingham at the Sewing for Pleasure show from 15th March.

Yarr.

I'm gradually decorating my journal about my 2016 holiday to Hebden Bridge.

I've edged the post card with machine embroidery( worked on cold water dissolvable fabric) and added a fabric flower

I am using silver metallic for the center snowflake on the 2nd Joy Table Runner (2015)

Another map by Jenny Beasley, this time in the form of a zentangle quilt, which has been beautifully machine quilted by Alison Francis.

I digitized the motif for 2 full work days and then embroidered first on a scrap fabric and then a towel - this one. Next will be on a t-shirt for me.

Motif is from Cinderalla by Junko Mizuno, simplified a little bit. (for private use only because of copyright)

I'm going through this phase where I am attracted to all things sacred heart. i have always loved religious art, especially relgious folk art. so i made my own reproduction of what could be a vintage prayer card since the anqtique ones are so pricey.

Снежная Фея Сибил - CP Fairyland minifee Halloween 2014 event head (mod), active line body.
