Celtic design in silk velvet, machine embroidered onto handmade silk paper, with added beads and hand sttiching.
This is the current sample in the Marie Stopes series. The whipped spider stitches are my representation of the first birth control devices. Not sure about the colour scheme though
The sample is on watercolour paper which is painted with pigment paint, and is then covered with threads, wool and chiffon and then machine stitched.
After being burnt back with a heat gun it is then hand stitched using a variety of threads.

The skirt was my first serious project on my new sewing machine. Not 100% good, but good first try. Embroidered the cupcake. Then I eventually got the hang of my new machine, I went on to make the brown blouse. went pretty good! Then I made the hat by hand. Gentle River stock socks.
Hand-made vintage-style guest towel. Used machine embroidery; trim made with sewing machine's decorative stitches; and hem-stitching.
Two layers of chiffon which have been stitched together with metallic thread using free machine embroidery with a metallic thread.
After stitching it has been heated with a heat gun

Textile swatch created from vintage and recycled fabrics which is meticulously fused together using different textile techniques and embroidery.
On the Danube trip we were taken to a Folk Museum. A lady was creating wonderful machine embroidery on an old treadle sewing machine. Then a couple came to show us the local folk dancing and as you can see her clothes display some of the beautiful embroidery.
This is a much darker piece than usual.
The base is an old dyed blanket, on to which I've applied newspaper, sheer fabrics, fibre and enamel pieces.
The newspaper pieces have been painted with acrylic paint and then stitched and finished off with a coat of PVA.
The blanket has added layers of sheer fabric which I have machine and hand stitched, and then burnt with both a heat gun and a soldering iron. I have then rubbed over the surface with a teasle brush.
I also painted the white sheer fabric with interference paint after stitching
I had a real passion some time ago for dense stitching with my sewing machine.It soon passed!

Learn to sew on leather, and make a truly awesome hip pouch at the same time. I figure I can't lose my purse if it's strapped to my waist...
