I'm feeling like a cowgirl this week I guess. Without the music, that is. I figured out some new ways of hooping things so I could embellish a pair of old jeans. They're even all torn and worn looking, which is all the rage these days.

I digitized the motif for 2 full work days and then embroidered first on a scrap fabric and then a towel - this one. Next will be on a t-shirt for me.

Motif is from Cinderalla by Junko Mizuno, simplified a little bit. (for private use only because of copyright)

March entry for Lola Nova's stitched journal project. Next month.... better planning me thinks!

Literature inspired ATC card made for Laura from Blue Giraffe. Swap organised by Very Berry.

Today I stitched some scrap pieces of paper to a dried up old wet wipe which I had previously used to wipe up some paint, and then I over painted it with pigment paint and rubbed it with gilding wax.

I then stitched petal shapes on to the piece, cut them out, and reassembled them into flowers.

I have added an image of one of the flowers to the centre of the scrap paper - it measures around 3 inches in diameter.

Free motion machine embroidery, shrinky dink and chopsticks.

I dunno, is this finished, this is the first 'big' piece I have done using the sewing machine. I don't want to overwork it, but I want to get it pretty good. I may do some beading later.....

Of course all of this is blogged as well!

Let the battle begin...

Urban Threads design that I made into "stuffies" and created Christmas Ornaments out of them!

I recycled a red wool blazer for the fabric, and used faux suede and red satin fabrics for the appliques. I love the handmade look the blanket stitching gives them. I don't have the patience to do hand-stitching, so I love it when my machine does it for me!

I was given a sheet of magazine scraps which had been applied to a background in a haphazard manner and was asked to use this as a source of inspiration!

I find this sort of challenge VERY difficult as I usually work to an idea, not an image.

After a mild panic I decided to gesso the whole page in an attempt to tone down the images and then I used it to create a folder which I then die cut and embossed.

I then grabbed the scrap bag and started to machine embroider images which started to leap from the page.

This is one sample.

Adding pieces to my recent work which is based on the role gender plays in interpreting political statements.

The views shown are not my own words but are statements I've obtained from on line and they are applied to fabric using differing techniques.

The face has been taken from my sketch book and printed on to silk and then I added stitch and fabric.

The words have been edged with wire.

CP Fairyland minifee Halloween 2014 event head (mod), active line body.

I'm going through this phase where I am attracted to all things sacred heart. i have always loved religious art, especially relgious folk art. so i made my own reproduction of what could be a vintage prayer card since the anqtique ones are so pricey.

This is a miniature sash for my exhibition piece "What shall I wear today - who am I?"

I machine embroidered this one inch piece and then added the words using a pigma micron pen. The fringe was coloured gold using ink as the gold machine thread looked too chunky when worked.

Only one ( or two) accessories to work now and then the piece is complete - a week before schedule.

It's odd what can happen to plans - I should have gone away for a week but the heavy snow has put paid to that idea. Still a happy day in the studio soon dispersed my gloom and as I have stocked up with supplies I can now have a quiet and productive time at home.
