A rabbit loving friend had a significant birthday. Mixed together with some machine embroidery, an AA Milne quote and a vintage throat pastile tin and this is the result.

Handmade felt with hand and machine stitching. The machine stitching flattens the edges to throw the rest into relief. Then I enjoy filling in with hand stitch.Design from Greek vase painting.
This was made out of my erosion bundle fabric and machine stitch.
It contains examples of Asemic writing and Orcadian runes
This was made for a friend of mine for her first Gallery Exhibition .. It was so exciting. The theme was Travel and Bridges. I wanted to make her a little gift to show her how proud I was of her!!
I used a combination of free motion stitching and hand embroidery. The faded bridge in the background was made by printing a line drawing, with a toner printer and then transferring it with acetone onto the fabric.
The design graciously comes from the very talented Sam (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dwelldeep/)
Small piece made by layering scraps of organza on a felt background. Free-motion machine embroidery , then soldering iron used to burn away specific areas of the organza to reveal the felt underneath.
Printed furnishing fabric pieces suspended between areas of machine embroidery. One complete piece - the pendant is not separate.
Technically name-brand pop-tarts don't have sprinkles, but I had to swatch some Spoonflower fabric as an alternate choice to applique onto these guys. The in-the-hoop toaster pastry is on my blog: silverseams.com/2023/05/pop.html
Embroidered wallhanging featuring Ancient Mediterranean and Aegean Pottery as design Source.
Each pot was machine stitched in applique in a variety of fabrics including dyed silk, hand made paper, felt , and voile. The background was made from tea-dyed scrim with coloured bondaweb backing, then hand embroidered with textured threads and beads.
It is about a metre high.

The front and back of my embroidered journal cover. It's fast and easy and is covering up a lime green polka-dotted monstrosity underneath.
At one time I enjoyed quilting and machine embroidery as a pastime and often sat up till the early hours to finish a project. I had so many ideas but never enough time to do them all, so ended up with lots of half finished work...then I picked up a camera and I was hooked.

I bought a new embroidery digitizing program that is much better than the one I had.
This is my first design made on that program. I am surprised that my first design stitched out beautifully. The only issue is that the thread pulled on the fabric so that fabric got visible along the edge of face. But it is easy to fix.
(I digitized manually with a picture behind to trace)
It is Princess Peach (I still think of her as Toadstool, the old name..) as how she looks like in the game Paper Mario. I love paper mario.
I would prefer to have more "real" pink thread for the dress, but I had to go for what I have at home. I bought a number of thread rolls at clearance so I bought some odd colors. This is embroidery thread, before I embroidered with sewing thread, not as nice and thicker.
Trying out ideas for my new piece.
Machine embroidery on to satin with a net underlay, embellished with silk paint
This page is made from Lutradur, which has been painted with Koh-in Noor paint and metallic acrylics, and then burnt with a heat gun.
I then machine stitched on top which is not for the faint hearted, especially as I used some difficult rayon thread which didn't react well to the rough painted surface.
At one stage this piece went missing and after turning the studio upside down and even moving furniture, I eventually found it clinging to the back of my knitted cardigan. A soothing cup of tea was needed at this stage.
Stitching across large spaces using a sewing machine is great fun as long as you are prepared for the inevitable snarly bit.
After stitching, I enlarged some of the holes, using a soldering iron, and then overpainted with Lumiere and Interferrence Paint.
I designed this page to go behind the stained glass front page, and to enhance some of the colours.
This was supposed to be for the fundraiser with me making one just for me sometime "when I have time" - but lo and behold, I nipped the edge of the fabric when trimming, hit it with FrayCheck, but it's not perfect so it's mine. Love the image. Urban Threads main design, Embroidery Library snowflake quilting, base mug rug pattern from FSF.(still have to trim a few jump stitches)
