For Core Studio project. We were assigned a mythical character from which we had to distill an inherent dichotomy and create a visual profile around it.
My character was Budai and the dichotomy was Excess and Contentment.
The logo is for a voting-system that would be implemented into ATMs.
Two enterprises in Nashik, auto parts suppliers to Mahindra and Mahindra, are implementing ILO's SCORE Workplace cooperation module. These enterprises are -- JP enterprise and Shree Shyam processors private limited. Post the implementation of the module, both enterprise report a rise in productivity, better management of workplace issues, and innovation.

This is a composite of the most readable squares.
No color = control.
Green = readable in one or more of the tested spectra.
Yellow = somewhat difficult to read, but readable nonetheless, in one or more of the tested spectra.
Red = very difficult or impossible to read in any of the tested spectra.
Lessons learned:
-Permanent black markers are great for obscuring markings (such as SS numbers).
-Colored markers, crayons, and pencils are bad for obscuring markings.
-Highlighter markings are easily obscured by most writing implements.
-To make a secret letter, write with a mechanical pencil or a black permanent marker, then cover the text with lots of black pen markings. The message can be decoded with an infrared still or video camera (such as a Sony Handycam with NightShot).

. To overcome the difficulties of science and math, explanation in classes, innovator Panda has created few thousands of educational, societal and scientific innovations which helps teachers and students of the country and abroad.

Updates, Saturday Dec 1st, Pro-Morsi protesters gathered in Nahdit Misr square in front of Cairo Uni to support the constitutional declaration issued by President Mohamed Morsi, and to demand for the implementation of Islamic Sharia law. Protesters came in MB and Salafi buses from different cities in Egypt. On the other hand, Tahrir sit-in continues continues with the demand of toppling the same constitutional declaration.
Friday Nov 30th, floods of protesters marched today in different cities all over Egypt and in Cairo towards Tahrir square where the sit-in continues. For the second week protesters demand the toppling of the constitutional declaration and dissolving the constitutional assembly. Chants reverberated in the streets of Egypt against President Mohamed Morsi, Mohamed Badee and the Muslim Brotherhood. Revolutionaries were joined by the so-called "Sofa Party" who have recently started protesting against the MB's dictatorship. Along with Egyptians from all walks of life, marched popular faces from both political and artistic backgrounds. By sunset Tahrir Square was filled with demonstrators, they were joined by Mohamed El Baradei and Hamdeen Sabahy who gave speeches in the square.
Thursday Nov 29th, hundreds of protesters continue their sit-in in Cairo's Tahrir square until toppling the new constitutional declaration issued by President Mohamed Morsy. On the other hand, US Embassy was shut due to the ongoing clashes in Simon Bolivar st., where CSF built two concrete blocks to stop clashes.
- Tuesday Nov 27th, floods of Egyptians took the streets walked in marches from different places all over the country, condemning the new constitutional declaration issued by President Mohamed Morsy last Thursday. Egyptians chanted against the Muslim Brotherhood's monopolizing of power. On the other hand, Judges' Club started an open sit-in to denounce recent constitutional decrees and to condemn the new constitutional declaration.

Meanwhile clashes continued in the vicinity of Mohamed Mahmoud street between protesters and central security forces.
- Wednesday Nov 21st, clashes continued for the third day in the vicinity of Mohamed Mahmoud st. between protesters and Central Security Forces. CSF advanced towards Tahrir sq. throwing a very large amount of tear gas at the protesters, injuring and arresting many of them.
- Tuesday Nov 20th, clashes continued in the vicinity of Mohamed Mahmoud St. along with Kasr Al-Ainy St. between the Central Security Forces "CSF" and protesters.
- Monday Nov 19th, thousands of protesters gathered in Mohamed Mahmoud St., Down Town - Cairo, commemorating the first anniversary of Mohamed Mahmoud battle that took several lives a year ago.
Clashes erupted in the vicinity of Mohamed Mahmoud St. between the Central Security Forces "CSF" and protesters, when the protesters tried to tear down the concrete blocks that was built by the SCAF. A few minutes later both parties exchanged throwing rocks/ stones at one another. The "CSF" also used tear gas in an attempt to disperse the protesters.

Ministros de Defensa y de la Mujer y Poblaciones Vulnerables, acompañados de esposa del Presidente de la República, llevaron ayuda humanitaria a localidad del VRAEM.
También inauguraron moderno Centro de Salud y entregaron implementos para Instituto Asháninca.
El ministro de Defensa, Jorge Nieto Montesinos, y la ministra de la Mujer y Poblaciones Vulnerables, Ana María Choquehuanca; acompañados de la señora Nancy Lange, esposa del Presidente de la República; llegaron esta mañana al distrito de Mazamari, provincia de Satipo, región Junín; para supervisar una acción cívica multisectorial, organizada por el Comando Conjunto de las Fuerzas Armadas en beneficio de más de 7 mil pobladores.
La acción cívica multisectorial, que comenzó el martes 26 y concluirá el viernes 29 de setiembre, brinda atención médica y permite acercar a la población los servicios públicos y programas sociales del Estado, como Juntos, Pensión 65, Cuna Más, Qali Warma, entre otros.
Asimismo, están presentes Provraem, Sierra y Selva Exportadora, Pronabec, Codevraem, Vivienda Rural y Saneamiento, Seguro Integral de Salud, Fondepes, Registro Único de Víctimas y Centro de Emergencia Mujer, Reniec, INEI y el Ministerio del Ambiente, entre otros.
La señora Lange hizo entrega al área de enfermería del Instituto de Educación Superior Tecnológico Público “Ashaninka” de material y equipos que permitirán capacitar a los estudiantes de este centro y los cuales hasta hoy no contaban con lo necesario para realizar prácticas. Esta donación fue realizada por la ONG Vida y canalizada por la Oficina de Apoyo al Cónyuge del Presidente de la República.
En tanto, la Dirección General de Gobierno Interior también hizo entrega de materiales y artefactos para implementar el referido Instituto, con un lote de tablets y televisores, entre otros.
Atención de personas con discapacidad
Las atenciones médicas vienen siendo brindadas por la Sanidad del Ejército, el Ministerio de Salud y EsSalud, y abarcan cerca de 20 especialidades médicas. Cabe destacar que en esta ocasión 187 personas con discapacidad recibieron su carnet del CONADIS, y además se entregaron 108 sillas de ruedas normales, 05 sillas de ruedas neurológicas, así como un lote de prótesis y órtesis.
Las autoridades también participaron en la inauguración del moderno Centro de Salud de Mazamari, construido por el gobierno regional; que cuenta con áreas de pediatría, ginecología, medicina familiar, hospitalización, ecografía y rayos X, casa materna, sala de parto equipada, sala de cirugía menor y auditorio.
Cabe señalar, que el Instituto Peruano del Deporte (IPD) también se hizo presente con la entrega de materiales deportivos a diversas instituciones educativas del distrito: 60 pelotas de fútbol, 30 pelotas de vóley, 12 nets de vóley y seis mallas de fútbol, entre otros.
Finalmente, las autoridades participaron en la inauguración del Centro de Emergencia Mujer de Mazamari, que está ubicado en la Comisaría del distrito.
La actividad contó con la presencia del jefe del Comando Conjunto de las Fuerzas Armadas, Almirante José Luis Paredes Lora; presidente del Instituto Peruano del Deporte, Óscar Fernández; la directora general de Gobierno Interior, Yolanda Falcón Lizaraso; el director de CONADIS, Darío Portillo Romero, y representantes de la ONG Vida y de la Asociación Virgen de la Merced.

A training of trainers of a South Sudan’s soon-to-be unified army concluded today, 4 October, with a graduation ceremony at the Military Training Centre in Luri near Juba.
The event marks a significant step forward for the implementation of the country’s revitalized peace agreement, signed in September last year.
Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinaikar, Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, described the project of training the nation’s unified forces as one with “tremendous implications for national integrity and security”. He called the graduating instructors “pioneers” with a “huge responsibility” to carry after having received just ten days of training.
“Whatever you do, however you act, is going to affect the soldiers who you train, so I implore you to be conscious of your actions, because you set the trend of the forces of South Sudan,” the Force Commander said.
Lieutenant General Tinaikar also stressed the importance of looking forward rather than backward.
“You have to forget your past, from where you come and your past affiliations, to work together for your young nation, for the state of South Sudan,” he said, reiterating his faith in the diligence and capacity of the instructors to train the unified forces properly.
A lack of qualified trainers has been slowing down the capacity building of units of the united armed forces in 35 cantonment sites across the country, making the readiness of instructors such a vital sign of progress.
To enable the establishment of a Transitional Government of National Unity on 12 November, the few hundred graduates will need to capacitate some 83,000 soldiers, the troops being merged from the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition.

Kavalcare Solar System for Jhpiego Mid-Wife Clinic Dec8, 2014
Every year, 12,000 women in Pakistan die of birth complications. The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Services Component, implemented by MCHIP/Jhpiego, aims at preventing maternal, newborn, and child deaths by ensuring skilled birth attendance (SBA) through a total market approach, empowered community, timely referral of obstetric and neonatal complications to an emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC) facility, and improved access to child care.
Lack of electricity in remote areas is a major issue that often leads to obstetric complications and newborn deaths. Refrigerated storage is vital for the effectiveness of life saving drugs and vaccines. Ice boxes are used in remot areas of this purpose but it is an ineffective method especially when easy availability of ice is a problem. To overcome these issues, Lodhie Foundation in association with Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program/JHPIEGO, extended its Kavalcare program and provided a Solar Powered System to a remote clinic located at village Haji Usman Jhakro near Makli, District Thatta. System provides sufficient power to operate a small refrigerator, a fan and 3 lamps 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It was designed, manufactured and installed by Shaan Technologies private Limited Karachi. After installation of Solar System in August 2014, this small remote clinic is serving a community of 10,000 plus persons who lives in village Haji Usman and surrounding areas. On an average 10 patients visits this clinic each day. Clinic also provides up to 15 birth attendance and new born care in a month.

The Government of Alberta has directed Alberta Health Services (AHS) to proceed carefully in implementing a portion of their plan.
There will be no job losses for nurses or for other front-line clinical staff. Any reduction in full-time equivalent positions will be in keeping with proactive disclosures announced in the fall of 2019.
A minimum of 100 management positions will be eliminated and a full review of senior AHS executives will be completed before the end of the fiscal year.
Alberta’s government has directed that only a portion of the actions identified in the implementation plan proceed, changes that are expected to yield up to $600 million in annual savings.
“The pandemic has changed everything. As a result, AHS has been directed to proceed carefully, putting patient care above all else. As a first step, AHS has been directed to eliminate a minimum of 100 management positions and to proceed with previously announced contracting work. This approach will allow us to strike the right balance between supporting the COVID-19 response and Alberta’s challenging fiscal situation.” said Tyler Shandro, Minister of Health.
Plans to contract out laundry services and community lab services, both announced in 2019, will continue. Requests for proposals (RFPs) for these services will be issued before the end of the year. About 70 per cent of community lab services is currently provided by the private sector, while about 68 per cent of health-care laundry is already cleaned by the private sector.
AHS has been given the go ahead to proceed with developing business cases for both environmental and food preparation services in 2022 and 2023. Both business cases will be subject to review and approval by the Government of Alberta.
AHS will also streamline non-clinical and back office operations, including optimizing distribution and inventory management and strengthening staff scheduling and overtime management systems. Job losses will be minimized in these areas.

According to AVID, School No. 12 is New Jersey’s first urban AVID National Demonstration School.
AVID is a research-based instructional model that encourages students to prepare for and participate in a challenging college preparatory curriculum and is implemented in more than 6,400 schools in 47 states across the U.S., plus schools in Department of Defense Education, Canada, and Australia. AVID impacts nearly 2 million students in grades K–12 and 50 postsecondary institutions.
The AVID team arrived at School No. 12 in the morning to take a school-wide tour and evaluate the school’s AVID program to determine whether it met the standards to become a national demonstration site.
School No. 12 has been building its AVID program since 2013. In June 2016, School No. 12 was among the schools throughout the country to be selected as an AVID Showcase School for AVID’s Fall 2016 showcase schedule, at which a presentation was given on School No. 12’s AVID implementation. Visitors, including educators from throughout New Jersey, engaged in conversations with students about WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading) strategies and observed students’ participation in Philosophical Chairs and Socratic Seminars on controversial topics.
On July 19, Elmora School No. 12 Vice Principal Melissa Kulick was given the prestigious honor to present the keynote address during the General Session at the 2018 AVID Summer Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Summer Institute is AVID’s annual professional learning event where districts come to learn the latest in AVID methodologies and strategies to successfully implement AVID in their schools.
Kulick shared School No. 12’s journey in becoming an AVID Demonstration Site with participants representing districts throughout the Northeast. She reflected on a moment when she recognized that AVID was going to be successful at School No. 12
“…I walked into a seventh grade AVID class and overheard a student say to peers, ‘Let’s collaborate before we decide which topic to side with,’” said Kulick. “She pointed to the classroom WICOR poster as if it was this powerful weapon. At that moment, something clicked within me. I knew that AVID was beginning to take hold.”
As she further described how the AVID program was taking shape at School No. 12, she said she was reminded “that urban learners are more than capable, can think critically, and college should and must be a part of their future.”
The AVID Team that conducted the evaluation agreed with her assessment of the success that was taking place throughout the AVID program at School No. 12 and provided validation that college education should and must be a part of the future for students in urban schools.
“We are pleased to announce and welcome Elmora School No. 12, Elmora University, as an AVID National Demonstration School,” said AVID Demonstration Coach Tamara Gilliam.
“Realize that you are now officially a teaching and learning center for all of the AVID world,” added Gilliam.
AVID has been an important part of the curriculum at Elizabeth Public Schools for the past decade and has been instrumental in the district increasing the number of students participating in postsecondary education after graduation.
“We are proud of Elmora School No. 12 for being a shining example of the AVID program, which aligns so well with our district goals,” stated Hugelmeyer. “The lessons and skills provided to our students through the AVID program are invaluable in our efforts to prepare each of our students for a college education and a successful career.”

This is another one of those artifacts where I wanted to grab anyone around me and shake them while pointing frantically at this. I cannot believe this has come down to us from nearly 4,000 years ago. Artifacts like this make me feel so close to the humanity of the people from the era. Again, I feel as if the artist this belonged to had only gone away for a break and would be back at any moment to pick back up his work.
