To discuss mechanisms for strengthening implementation of Bonded Labour and Inter-State Migrant Workmen Act.
The objective of the workshop is to facilitate discussions between the Ministry of Labour and Employment and States on:
-Experiences in implementation of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act and Inter-State Migrant Workmen Act; and
-Way forward for strengthening the provisions of the Act and other institutional mechanisms for prevention and reducing vulnerability to bondage.

2 roads are outlined on the ground, each leading a gate. The gates open to a 3°C and 1,5ºC world respectively. A person representing ministers will be on the road leading to the 3°C world. Pushing a globe, representing that the ministers are pushing the whole world ahead of them regardless of where they go. He gets to a crossing where he can enter the 1.5 degree world road. But in order to enter he has to pass 5 people and shake hands with them to succeed on the 1.5C road. The crowd enjoin him to take the safe road, the road to 1.5C, despite the difficulties and obstacles. The minister has to interact with and pass each of the five processes before they are able to proceed on the 1.5C road.

After the street theatre a few of the actual Ministers ceremonially took the 1.5C road.
Farming implements depicted in the 1850s book "Man, His Frame and Wants" (Charles Baker). Steampower was just starting to be introduced onto the farm, so the implements depicted were a mix of old-fashioned horse-drawn and new-fangled steam-powered.
Small sharp flints are set into the sled which is dragged by men or animals across the threshing floor to separate the grain. These implements have been used for thousands of years.

Invierte Estado más de mil millones de pesos en programas de impacto social.
El Gobernador visitó a tres familias de la Col. Laura Alicia Frías que ya tienen casa nueva, y recorrió dos estancias infantiles, programas que impulsan Sedesson y Sedesol.
Hermosillo, Sonora, Agosto 29 de 2012.- Este miércoles fue un día muy especial para Cristal, hace unos 7 meses que dejó su casa de cartón para ocupar una casa nuevecita en la Colonia Laura Alicia Frías, hasta donde fue el Gobernador Guillermo Padrés para constatar los avances en materia de Vivienda Digna.
“Detrás de cada acción de Gobierno hay una familia, hay un impacto social, hay un ama de casa, hay una maestra y un niño, hay toda una historia”, indicó el mandatario antes de recorrer la nueva vivienda de dos recamaras, baño, cocina y comedor donde ahora habita Cristal con sus 4 pequeños hijos y su marido.
Durante su recorrido, Guillermo Padrés visitó las viviendas de tres familias que han sido beneficiadas con un nuevo hogar, en la colonia donde, desde hace tres años, las acciones de piso firme han cambiado el rostro y la vida a los habitantes de esta zona.
En el marco de la Semana de Desarrollo Social, el Gobernador destacó que se han invertido más de mil millones de pesos del Estado durante la actual administración en temas de desarrollo social, como vivienda digna y piso firme entre otros programas.
Señaló además que se han obtenido logros como acabar con las casas de cartón en Cajeme, algo que ningún gobernador había logrado y pronto se levantará bandera blanca en cuanto al piso firme en todo el Estado.
Luego de conocer el hogar de Cristal Marcelina Díaz Lara, en compañía del Alcalde de Hermosillo; Javier Gándara Magaña; el Secretario de SEDESSON, Luis Alberto Plasencia Osuna y el Delegado de SEDESOL, Gustavo de Unanue Galla, el Gobernador visitó los hogares de un par más de las miles de familias sonorenses que han sido beneficiadas.
“Antes vivíamos en tres cuartitos de cartón y en tiempos de lluvia batallábamos mucho porque nos mojábamos con todo y mis niños”, comentó María Luciana Avilés Robles, quien también recibió un pie de casa con recamara y baño que sin duda es más cómodo y sano para sus hijos.
Los pies de casa entregados por SEDESSON tienen un valor de 120 mil pesos, son de concreto y cuentan con una construcción de 42 metros cuadrados.
Las principales colonias beneficiadas han sido la Laura Alicia Frías, Hermosa Provincia, La Matanza, 5 de Mayo, Solidaridad, Miguel Valencia, Kino viejo y Poblado Miguel Alemán.
En total se han beneficiado a 70 personas con una inversión de 1 millón 119 mil 847 pesos de recurso estatal directo.
Visita estancias infantiles
Durante su recorrido de trabajo, el Gobernador Padrés también visitó las estancias infantiles “Promesas Solidaridad” y “Tito”, la primera ubicada en la colonia Solidaridad y la segunda en Dunas.
Ahí supervisó de primera mano el trato que se les da a los niños, las condiciones en las que se encuentran y hasta encabezó un simulacro de emergencia para constatar la preparación de los infantes.
Al termino del recorrido, en entrevista de prensa, el Gobernador reiteró que la atención a las personas más necesitadas de la sociedad es una de las prioridades del Gobierno del Estado y se continuará destinando los recursos necesarios para garantizarles una mejor calidad de vida.

Agahi to implement the Nokia-UNESCO Mobile Learning initiative to deliver quality education to teachers
Nokia Pakistan and UNESCO collaborate to launch Mobile Learning for Teacher’s in Pakistan using Nokia Education Delivery App to facilitate teacher training via mobile phones
Nokia Pakistan and UNESCO Islamabad launched the project “Mobile Learning Project for Teacher’s Professional Development” today as formal collaboration in the presence of senior government officials, Nokia representatives and UNESCO representatives. As part of this program, UNESCO and Nokia are joining hands, where Nokia is providing its mobile phones and its application “Nokia Education Delivery (NED) for UNESCO’s project on ‘use of ICT for professional development of public school teachers’ in remote areas.
Since 2011 NED has turned into an open source solution to improve livelihoods, and in order to support such mobile learning innovations to be filled with life in Pakistan, The project will be implemented by AGAHI, a UNESCO partner and a non-profit foundation working in the area of communication and media policy design.
Nokia developed NED to allow using a mobile phone to access and download videos and other educational materials from a constantly updated education library. Operating in hundreds of schools and having reached millions of students in the Philippines, Tanzania, Chile and Colombia, Nokia Education Delivery has been shown to improve study results and increase retention among students.
This collaboration is part of the agreement signed last year between UNESCO and Nokia at international level to promote the use of mobile technologies to further the objectives of “Education for All”. As part of this agreement Nokia is developing applications and new Mobile technologies offering access to information and enrich learning environments at global level.
In Pakistan, through the project “Mobile Learning for Teachers” Nokia’s Education Delivery application will help UNESCO to enable the delivery of high- quality educational materials to teachers who lack training and resources though mobile phones giving an opportunity to teachers to train themselves on the same level as professionally competent teachers.
Speaking about the project, UNESCO Director, Kozue Kai Nagata said, “In 21st century Public- private partnerships are enjoying growing attention and support as a new and sustainable modality for development. We are confident to collaborate with Nokia to provide us with the best platform to train public school teachers. Nokia Education Delivery is fit to match our need of delivering quality training to a large number of public school teachers across Pakistan through the project named “Mobile Learning for Teachers”
Amir Jahangir, President AGAHI and a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, shared his views on the launch that “Pakistan is a knowledge starved country, where universal education has its own challenges. To meet the target of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) on education, Pakistan needs to address its education challenges through innovation and technology which can reach to a larger population with cost effective solutions”.
Speaking about the launch of NED program, Ulrike Vott Nokia Sustainability Manager for Middle East said, “Nokia Education Delivery facilitates education in a fun and interactive way. In addition to the NED software, Nokia offers program implementation support for the benefit of Pakistan’s education landscape.” The Nokia Education Delivery software system has two modules. The first module is installed on a Nokia mobile phone and contains a browse able catalog of educational videos. The second module is installed on the computer of the education administrator. It manages the organization’s mobile video library, so that videos can be added, deleted and updated. It also provides information on the usage of different videos.”
This unique pilot project for Pakistan has been initiated by UNESCO and AGAHI aims at using Mobile phones as medium for training teachers, where the teachers in remote areas will be equipped with devices, SIMs, a software solution and high quality educational content. The course for training and capacity building will be developed into video files and will be transmitted step by step according to curriculum on the phones provided to teachers. Over the course of the training period, teachers will be tested via SMS on regular basis and as an incentive, those who will score highest in tests will receive free mobile top ups. At the end of the course, test scores of all teachers will be aggregated and the passing teachers will be awarded certificate in the final workshop.

A not for profit, AGAHI specializes in creating communication, information and media policy design tools, that enables the stakeholders to engage in information collaboration on knowledge-based platforms. AGAHI works in building the capacity of knowledge workers in creating content based on best practices to disseminate information in building a more integrated knowledge ecosystem.

The Sears Avondale made its grand entrance at the Springfield Illinois State fair in the fall of 1910 when the bungalow was built next to the race track on the fair grounds. The modern bungalow was built on a platform. The Avondale was furnished with Sears furnishings and the ground level displayed Sears farm implements.
Although the platform no longer exists the house was saved and is still there close to the same area.
The Sears Avondale would become one of their most popular bungalows.
The Sears Avondale was offered late 1910-1924 according to dated post cards, dating stamps and postmarks as well as the catalogs I have in my collection.

El Ministro de Transportes y Comunicaciones, José Gallardo Ku, recibió del Gobierno del Japón equipos destinados a implementar un sistema de prevención de desastres que permitirá a la población recibir información rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias.
El sistema -que utilizará el estándar de Televisión Digital Terrestre japonés brasileño ISDB-T, que viene siendo implementado en el Perú- podría utilizarse en caso de que el Fenómeno El Niño afecte a alguna de las localidades beneficiadas.
El "Proyecto para el Mejoramiento del equipamiento para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres en la República del Perú" comprende la donación e implementación de ocho sistemas de observación de mareas; ocho sistemas EWBS (Emergency Warning Broadcasting System), conformados por estaciones de televisión digital terrestre-TDT con capacidad para transmitir la señal EWBS; y 15 receptores de TDT con capacidad de recibir esa señal.
El Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil (INDECI) es el responsable de emitir señal la alerta, la cual llega al Instituto Nacional de Radio y Televisión (IRTP), que la difunde a los hogares de la población de las localidades beneficiarias, utilizando el sistema EWBS (a través de la señal de televisión digital).
Las estaciones de TDT con EWBS -que estarán ubicadas en Arequipa (Arequipa, 1; Camaná, 3), Ica (Pisco, 1), La Libertad (Trujillo, 4), Lima (Lima, 1; Cañete, 1), Moquegua (Ilo, 4)- no solo podrán transmitir alertas por tsunami, sino también sobre diversos tipos de desastres, como inundaciones, deslizamientos, incendios, entre otros.
Actualmente en el Perú la información de desastres se tramite vía telefónica, radial o por email, siendo alta la probabilidad de interrupción en la comunicación cuando ocurre un desastre de gran magnitud.
"La introducción de este nuevo Sistema EWBS hará posible que la población reciba información más rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias por desastres, lo que contribuirá a salvar vidas y reducir daños", señaló Gallardo Ku.
El Ministro Gallardo y el Viceministro de Comunicaciones del Japón, Yasuo Sakamoto, destacaron la importancia del fortalecimiento de la cooperación entre ambos países en el campo de la televisión digital, así como ampliar la relación de cooperación en el sector de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC).
La entrega de equipos se realizó en el marco de la inauguración del Seminario Internacional en materia de Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT) y Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicaciones (TIC), que se realizará los días 14 y 15 de enero de 2016 en Lima y en el que participarán delegados de 15 empresas japonesas.

Madam Humaira Hashmi ( Director Operations NCHD Sindh ) provided detailed presentation about NCHD Programs i.e. UPE, Literacy, BBSYDP Projects and also about MALALA and OWN School initiatives. It also includes the detailed briefing of NCHD’s national and provincial achievements. The achievements and efforts were widely appreciated by the Participants.
Dr. Iqbal Muhammad Choudry Director HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry Karachi University highlighted the importance of education and appreciated the role of NCHD in bridging the gap between strategy formulation and strategy execution to enhance Literacy rate and Universal Primary Education (UPE) with a view to fulfilling Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He further ensured his volunteer support in teachers’ training and development for the provision of intellectual volunteers for the training of teachers all across the board. He further said that socio-economic development of Brazil, South Korea and Malaysia is largely attributed to effective education systems. In addition to that he urged government to increase budget allocation for the education sector.
Anees Ur Rehman Chairman Fund Raising Committee Rotery Club explained the role of private sector for enhancement of education. He said that Rotery club is already working for improvements in education. He affirmed his support to NCHD and also ensured that they would also undertake filed visits in collaboration with NCHD aiming at enhancement of School initiatives.

Madam Humaira Hashmi ( Director Operations NCHD Sindh ) provided detailed presentation about NCHD Programs i.e. UPE, Literacy, BBSYDP Projects and also about MALALA and OWN School initiatives. It also includes the detailed briefing of NCHD’s national and provincial achievements. The achievements and efforts were widely appreciated by the Participants.
Dr. Iqbal Muhammad Choudry Director HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry Karachi University highlighted the importance of education and appreciated the role of NCHD in bridging the gap between strategy formulation and strategy execution to enhance Literacy rate and Universal Primary Education (UPE) with a view to fulfilling Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He further ensured his volunteer support in teachers’ training and development for the provision of intellectual volunteers for the training of teachers all across the board. He further said that socio-economic development of Brazil, South Korea and Malaysia is largely attributed to effective education systems. In addition to that he urged government to increase budget allocation for the education sector.
Anees Ur Rehman Chairman Fund Raising Committee Rotery Club explained the role of private sector for enhancement of education. He said that Rotery club is already working for improvements in education. He affirmed his support to NCHD and also ensured that they would also undertake filed visits in collaboration with NCHD aiming at enhancement of School initiatives.

Progress reports on the Action Plan for Jobs 2015 have shown that 159 out of 192 actions scheduled for implementation in Q2 and Q3 2015 were delivered. The reports were published today.
Among the measures delivered are included:
Regions – published and started implementing regional jobs plans in so far 5 of the 8 regions, part of the €250million regional strategy, targeting delivery of a combined total of 127,000 extra jobs over the coming years (in the plans published so far)
Regions – launched a €10million initiative through the LEOs to support more start-up businesses in every county, and launched call for expressions of interest in €40million regional enterprise fund
Skills – rolled out an additional 1,061 places on core ICT courses at NFQ levels 8-9
Manufacturing – measures to support more manufacturing SMEs to improve productivity, including a €10million capital investment fund and a new LEAN programme – 15 companies have benefited so far; published a guide on manufacturing supports
R&D – launched the SFI Investigators Programme 2015, helping to develop a world-class research capability in STEM areas; approved additional funding for the National Institute for Bioprocess Research and Training (NIBRT) to invest in R&D in biologics drugs
Start-ups – €500k fund to attract international start-ups to Ireland, Start-Up Gathering programme of events across the country
Infrastructure – Government Capital Plan published, including €3billion of supports for enterprise
Making work pay – Low Pay Commission Report and Government response, Collective Bargaining and REA legislation passes all stages
Launched the Living Cities Initiative, aimed at rejuvenating eligible areas of Kilkenny, Galway, Waterford, Limerick, Cork and Dublin

El Ministro de Transportes y Comunicaciones, José Gallardo Ku, recibió del Gobierno del Japón equipos destinados a implementar un sistema de prevención de desastres que permitirá a la población recibir información rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias.
El sistema -que utilizará el estándar de Televisión Digital Terrestre japonés brasileño ISDB-T, que viene siendo implementado en el Perú- podría utilizarse en caso de que el Fenómeno El Niño afecte a alguna de las localidades beneficiadas.
El "Proyecto para el Mejoramiento del equipamiento para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres en la República del Perú" comprende la donación e implementación de ocho sistemas de observación de mareas; ocho sistemas EWBS (Emergency Warning Broadcasting System), conformados por estaciones de televisión digital terrestre-TDT con capacidad para transmitir la señal EWBS; y 15 receptores de TDT con capacidad de recibir esa señal.
El Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil (INDECI) es el responsable de emitir señal la alerta, la cual llega al Instituto Nacional de Radio y Televisión (IRTP), que la difunde a los hogares de la población de las localidades beneficiarias, utilizando el sistema EWBS (a través de la señal de televisión digital).
Las estaciones de TDT con EWBS -que estarán ubicadas en Arequipa (Arequipa, 1; Camaná, 3), Ica (Pisco, 1), La Libertad (Trujillo, 4), Lima (Lima, 1; Cañete, 1), Moquegua (Ilo, 4)- no solo podrán transmitir alertas por tsunami, sino también sobre diversos tipos de desastres, como inundaciones, deslizamientos, incendios, entre otros.
Actualmente en el Perú la información de desastres se tramite vía telefónica, radial o por email, siendo alta la probabilidad de interrupción en la comunicación cuando ocurre un desastre de gran magnitud.
"La introducción de este nuevo Sistema EWBS hará posible que la población reciba información más rápida, precisa y estable sobre emergencias por desastres, lo que contribuirá a salvar vidas y reducir daños", señaló Gallardo Ku.
El Ministro Gallardo y el Viceministro de Comunicaciones del Japón, Yasuo Sakamoto, destacaron la importancia del fortalecimiento de la cooperación entre ambos países en el campo de la televisión digital, así como ampliar la relación de cooperación en el sector de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC).
La entrega de equipos se realizó en el marco de la inauguración del Seminario Internacional en materia de Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT) y Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicaciones (TIC), que se realizará los días 14 y 15 de enero de 2016 en Lima y en el que participarán delegados de 15 empresas japonesas.
