This is the first paper negative I've ventured out for. Taken at Orton Mere Docks/Weir - this was supposed to include an anchor, but it didn't get included in the frame.

Crème fraîche is a type of thickened sour cream that is very expensive to buy in the US, but I found instructions for using buttermilk or cultured sour cream to get the right effect. Start early, it needs time to thicken!

Chocolate, recipe from Nonna's Italian Kitchen by Bryanna Clark-Grogan, with some subs. Used some hazelnut liquor and some 74% chocolate mixed with semi-sweet. Used ground almonds instead of raw cashews as can't find raw cashews here and the almonds needed to be used. Also, I think "tapioca starch" might mean something more like the texture of corn flour (corn starch in America), my tapioca was granuluar and this didn't dissolve completely, next time grind up. Still, pretty good for a first attempt.

Homemade pizza; oyster mushroom, spinach, and roasted garlic, ready for the oven!

A crude long focus lens made from a magnifying glass and some drainpipe.

The single biconvex element has a focal length of approximately 400mm, the diameter is 100mm, giving an aperture of f4.

It was attached to a Nikon D70 using an extension tube and the plastic cup from an old thermos flask, over which a standard black plastic soil pipe was placed and wedged into position. The lens was pushed into another plumbing item, which just fits inside the main tube and can be pushed in and out to focus.

As expected the resulting images are subject to various aberrations, and have a dreamy quality to them.

Baked until crispy and crumbled. To top off our pierogi. Which I fried up in the rendered bacon fat.

The first time I made scones was back in year 2. It was a whole class effort, with the purpose of making them being for the 'Special Person's Day' that was happening later in the day. It was also the first time I had tasted scones with whipped cream and jam, and I remember every mouthful making me so happy. This was taken just as they came out of the oven! My sister prefers making the 'lemonade scone' but these ones I've made are the traditional English scones I made when I was 8. They're not too bad in shape, if I may say so myself.

Homemade with ingredient from our garden, Crab Apple Jelly (From that messy tree on the front yard), Mint Jelly and Strawberry Jam... Mmmmm

Carrie's homemade rootbeer.

This took me one day to design and build. Made from a chip serving tray, two daylight balanced fluorescents (one 8in and one 12in), a fluorescent ballast, and a 3/8' threaded baby pin.

I've just have taken it out from the oven = HoT & YummY

This sauce is considered the emperor of all sauces in Hong Kong. Many chefs create their own version and keep the recipe with absolute secrecy. Here is my homemade version that will set your tastebuds on fire. tinytearoom.com
