The sentiment is on a scrap piece of a background I created with several of the SSS Stencils and Distress Oxide inks. Striped background is also a SSS stencil and the sentiment is a die from Simon Says Stamps as well. Submitted to the SSS Flickrchallenge#74, Stunning Stencils.
Pizza Dough from Better Homes and Gardens (simplified instructions)
2 ¾ to 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 package active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
Combine the flour (I used 3 cups) and yeast, make a well in the center and add the warm water and olive oil. Using mixer with a dough hook beat until combined (2-3 minutes). [You could just knead it]. When combined and fluffy, turn onto a floured surface and knead until it is moderately stiff, smooth and elastic.
Divide in ½, cover, and let rise 10 minutes. Makes 2 pizzas
Toss or roll into the thickness you want. Top and bake at 400* for 15-20 minutes.

5 eggs, a lot of cream, and a hilarious amount of calories later, we have the perfect vanilla bean ice cream with vanilla bean caramel. if you like things that are awesome, then you'll REALLY like this.
Homemade 115 mm f/ 2.8 lens made from a single plano-convex element. Colors inverted.
More information regarding this lens and my other homemade lenses can be found here: DIY camera lens tutorial
This is the lens removed from the lens mount and tube. The tube, when installed, is recessed inside the body. The lens is inserted through the back, and the ring in the lower left corner holds the lens in place. There is a similar ring glued inside the tube to keep the lens from falling out the front.
The copy lens has f stops from 4.5 to 16, which are selected by turning a ring around the middle. Unfortunately I can't get to this ring without removing the lens from the tube. This means I have to focus at whatever f stop I've selected. I could conceivably do this from the back of the camera when the focusing screen is removed, but I'd risk messing up the focus. In my test however, f8 was plenty bright. We'll see if this is a problem or not.
Here is my rendition of a homemade Oreo -- of course i had to change it up a bit and use one of my favorite flavors -- mint!
I ate this one after drizzling some fudge over it -- so heavenly!

Each year I make a new batch of brandied cherries using produce either from farmer's markets or handpicked myself.
Create a simple syrup, add cherries work puts still intact, and brandy. Let sit for a couple months in a cool space then store in the frig through the year. Fantastic for use in cocktails.
There is no better way to relax after a fortnight of hard work... A homemade 25-person bathtub heated by a built-in wood furnace.
Japanese Pancake Pizza: Okonomiyaki is a mixture between pancake and pizza. "Okonomi" means "as you like". This I think refers to the many ingredients, as one prefers in his/her pancakes. These pancakes are served with mayonnaise, brown okonomiyaki sauce and bonito flakes.
I had my 1st bite of okonomiyaki at the basement food corner at C K Tang years ago.
All the better Large and Dark.
I've been away on holiday for a couple of weeks and had a grand time - I thought I'd mark my return to Flickr with a picture which has been lingering in my 'to be uploaded one day' pile.
The title refers to two excellent fellow Flickrites, Homemade and Beechlights - the location of London Wall / South Barbican being a favourite of Beechlights and the DoF style being one which Homemade carries off extremely well. If you have the time I'd highly recommend a visit to both photostreams.
So a short description for a change as I have a mass to catch up on following time away and a raft of photostreams to visit. I'll be dropping into folk as soon as I can - in the meantime...
...enjoy
