Van Dyk's is this little hole-in-the-wall ice cream join in Ridgewood. Their ice cream is really quite delicious. All of the ice cream is made on premises. They usually have a new/unique flavor or two each month.
Apparently there was a stretch in the 80's or 90's where they were buying someone else's ice cream and just reselling - which explains the "Homemade Again" on their sign.
Confusingly, a web search using the spelling from the sign nets very little useful information. Go with this info and be well!

My first time making homemade pasta. Fettuccine, cookie cutout shapes, goat cheese ravioli. Recipe inspiration here: thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/05/homemade-pasta/, except I used two cups Bob's red mill unbleached white flour, 1 cup Bob's semolina, and 6 eggs. My son and husband loved the shapes and fettuccine, and I enjoyed the ravioli. Easy and fun, will make again!
Hubby was missing Japanese food. Here is my mediocre attempt at nori rolls. They tasted fine though.
Here are a selection of bottles of homemade alcohol. I took this picture in a small restaurant in the countryside about 2 hours from Seoul, South Korea.
Whole wheat pita, topped with vegetable tomato sauce, fresh parmesan cheese, thinly sliced carrots, sliced roasted red peppers, tzatziki with cucumber, spicy hummus, sprinked with dried oregano flakes and a dash of salt and pepper.
Toasted in the oven under the broiler for 10 minutes.
After 5 minutes in the oven. Not fully cooked yet.
This is Jim's bike that he built. Unfortunately, the first morning as we were all getting ready to leave we hear a "POP!" We turn and see Jim's front tire completely flat.
Rob came out from Washington to ride bikes. We made it across Iowa and had a great time.

Homemade! Yay! It hadn't been in the freezer quite long enough, but we couldn't wait.
Verdict:
It tastes good, but...different. A little too sweet. Next time I'll use actual (if expensive) vanilla beans and cut down on the egg yolks and sugar, and maybe use a bit more milk and a bit less cream.
Jesse really liked it.

Built the sandwich, painted the outside of the bread wiht olive oil, put on a hot grill pan, foil-covered brick on top.
Three minutes later...flip.
Three mintues later... pour beverage of your choice, slice sandwich, and enjoy.
