Week 3 of our new Keto diet showing how we are trying to get the balance right , two meals a day , first about noon to 1 pm last about 6-7 pm giving a period of approx 16 hours during which the body has a chance to utilise existing fats within the body. They call it intermittent fasting , we call it less cooking and dishes to wash and more time for important things :-)

- eggplant sauteed with miso

- tofu with kimchi okra natto

- avocado and cucumber salad

- onion miso soup

- rice

A bit of red pepper, broad beans, butter beans, flat green beans, regular green beans and a few yellow wax beans.

when you get somebody like my Chinese-as-Chinese-can-be mum to make a salad (which is as foreign a concept as drinking milk, to the generations of the past), the results can be surprisingly good. Like this one with assortment of blanched Asian greens, chopped tomatoes, chilled apple chunks and hard-boiled egg all tossed with a handful of sunflower seed, pine kernel and sticky red dates. Perfect for a hot afternoon in the tropics.
