I saw this half moon the night I returned from Baguio (12/27) but I couldn't upload it to Flickr due to the Net problems here in Asia. Had to email this in.
Half Moon Bay is located on the Pacific Coast between forested hills and some of the most beautiful coastlines that California has to offer. It is approximately 28 miles south of San Francisco and lies within the westernmost portion of San Mateo County.
Which is significant: The tide is weaker at half moon, maybe the tide will not wash the PA to the sea.

I've just received a copy of "A Beautiful Silence", Steve Gosling's new book portraying his journey in Antarctica. I was immediately drawn to the B&W images in the book and especially to one of an abandoned whaler's boat which was rendered in the most wonderful rich tones. Steve was also my initial inspiration for starting pinhole photography. My wife and I were lucky enough to be on a trip to the Antarctic Peninsula in 2013 so as homage to Steve and with a nod to both Antarctica and pinhole photography, I thought I would share my pinhole version of the same whaler's boat on Half Moon Island.

A half moon on the 4th of July fireworks show at Evergreen Cemetery in Riverside, California. Shot with my new Canon 70-300mm Lens. Hand held at iso 160, f-stop 5.6 and 1/50th sec shutter speed. Taken near sunset with some nice purple clouds.
The half moon shape of the rock in the foreground with that purple line, leading in an S shaped landscape is really fascinating. Not a great light that day, but I love the tone of this cloudy mood.
I saw two birds perched atop the tree located right in front of the apartment building. They are the same birds I've seen there every day and every night. I thought the way they looked against the moon was pretty cool, so I ran inside to get my DSLR. By the time I got back outside they were gone. So instead of getting one shot where the birds would be in focus and the moon soft, I decided to shoot the moon (so to speak) this way, letting the branches go soft.
i heard about half moon bay from a surfing documentary called Riding Giants. so since my parents and i were going up north for vacation i pitched the idea to go there. and it is the most beautiful place i have ever been to.

Here's a shot I took back in March. I uploaded a portrait version of this before, but looking at them again I prefer the landscape one, so here it is.
