It was a typical day at Half Moon Bay, windy and cool with a persistent marine layer lying just off the coast. I was a little surprised to see this fence leaning into the wind. I would have expected it to lean the other way as the winds off the ocean here can be quite fierce. I always respect the nonconformists.

While out photographing the planets again tonight I saw the moon sitting there so pretty and decided to capture it as well. I was only able to get half of it though.

Morristown & Erie SW1500 20 shoves a work train across Half Moon Trestle in Passaic on September 22, 2020. The work train is being positioned in Island Yard to transport ripped up ties and rail out of Passaic.
Pentax K1000 - Ilford XP-2 400 - Red River Gorge, Kentucky - Half Moon Arch is towards the top of a ridge. It's also on an unmarked trail. There is a cliff on both sides of the arch.
Taken from Coral Towers Observatory using a Skynyx 2-2 high speed camera and 13-cm Astrophysics Apochromatic Refractor at F/16 on a software bisque PME mount.

Stand up board paddling is getting popular recently in Australia. Half Moon Bay is in Black Rock, Victoria.
Located in Black Rock, about 19 km from Melbourne, Red Bluff is a high (over 25 m), active cliff cut in poorly consolidated clayey sands, with harder sandstone beds forming a series of irregular ledges and benches at the base. The greater part of the cliff is an exposure of the Red Bluff Sand, this site being the type locality for that geological formation. (Sourced from Victorian Resources Online)
We visited Half Moon Island in the South Shetland Islands, which is a huge chinstrap penguin nesting site. Penguins rule here; we had to walk on the sharp, jagged rocks rather than the smooth "penguin highway" nearby.
This little fella is a molting chick who will soon go to sea and fend for himself. The chicks stay in the nest for 20–30 days before they go to join other chicks in a crèche. Around 50–60 days old, they moult, gaining their adult feathers and go to sea.

This was taken just after sunset. The sky was light enough that I could capture the sky and the moon together fairly easily, without over or under-exposure.
