Sometimes I take a walk up past the university, and then down steep narrow Devon Road to Aro Street, it always seems relaxed and friendly there, it's just an impression. The walk is near its end when I reach Aro Café for a flat white coffee and a helping of nemesis chocolate cake, and hopefully by then I have found an opportunity for a photo. Nicer and bigger on Black

This little beauty was visiting my backyard. No one has cut the grass and it has been a safe haven for fireflies, butterflies, and stray cats:o)
What ever was in the grass feasted on my legs big time!
The city of Havana really is an assault on the senses:
vibrant, historic, friendly, filthy.
All those words apply.
In the few days that we spent there, I counted two dead chickens and several dead rats on the streets. Usually they're gone by the following day as the street cleaners seem to do a good job at disposing of the debris overnight.

A Tibetan woman invites me to visit her home in a small village on the Friendship Highway in Tibet, China. The house is built in typical Tibetan style.

Friendly's in Parma Heights. $11.99 meal that included soft drink, buffalo chicken strips, and a sundae (2 scoop, 1 topping).
This is the first shop in the lane adjoining the Spice Bazaar so this lucky chap has his store open on two sides. A friendly shopkeeper flashes a smile for the Nikon. The store has just opened and the store owners are waiting for the day's first cup of tea. (Istanbul, Turkey, Nov. 2014)
I couldn't get any closer without it coming to greet me, so this has some cropping (~50% in both directions).
Yes, there is a very saturated and distracting blue wall occupying a large part of the frame. Isn't it fun to break the "rules of composition"? :)
A wasp and a hummingbird share the feeder.
