I can't take the credit for this photo, as my brother James took it. My role was chiefly fox tamer.
Check out James' awesome photos here: www.flickr.com/photos/jamesmccullen
This is a lovely rural site, friendly staff, friendly locals, not outrageously expensive and a nice place to fill up. The lady who runs the place makes the best flapjack I have ever tasted, now there's a recommendation!
Richard has a photo of this place taken in 2015 when it looked exactly the same, see below. As he says, it looks like a former Shell site. He didn't have that annoying speck of dust on his lens though! There's an image of the garage from 2011 on Geograph.org where the pole sign had a different design but still looked like a former Shell sign.

I went back to this place a couple of days later to buy more flapjack and to take some more photos, they will follow in a few week's time!

Note, I took this photo on the way back later in the day when the speck of dust had been discovered and removed!
Happy Nowruz. Nowruz 2019 Festival
(Wikipedia)
Nowruz (Persian: نوروز Nowruz, [nouˈɾuːz]; literally "new day") is the Iranian New Year,[17][18] also known as the Persian New Year,[19][20] which is celebrated worldwide by various ethno-linguistic groups.
Despite its Iranian and Zoroastrian origins, Nowruz has been celebrated by diverse communities. It has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in Western Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin, and the Balkans.[21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29] It is a secular holiday for most celebrants that is enjoyed by people of several different faiths, but remains a holy day for Zoroastrians,[30] Bahais,[31] and some Muslim communities.[32][33]
Nowruz is the day of the vernal equinox, and marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. It marks the first day of the first month (Farvardin) of the Iranian calendar.[34] It usually occurs on March 21 or the previous or following day, depending on where it is observed. The moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day is calculated exactly every year, and families gather together to observe the rituals.

I gotta tell you, instant love with me for this one. I love this girl. She's just too cute!
Named her after my daughter, who is totally smitten by her and the fact that mommy named her the same name. :)

Event building inside the Kremlin. Build in the 70's for national party's parties.
Not particularly nice picture, but I like the strong skya and the distorted lines.
Russian people seem to be cold. But this reputation is wrong. As soon as ice is broken they become very friendly a like to help you.

robin ~ erithacus rubecula
RSPB Green status list.
I am pleased to see this robin in the neighbourhood as by looking at his colours and patterns I can see he is a local robin who has returned from his hols. LOL Yesterday for the first time in months I spotted a pied wagtail, birds I would normally see all through the year.
Today I went out as usual to take weekend early morning photos. It wasn’t my day.
After driving a while, I pull over to take some pictures of a field. I pull on the side of the street on what looks like a shoulder. On a much closer look it is really a ditch full of grass. Down I go, into a five feet deep ditch, car and all.
The right wheels into the hole, the bottom of the car on the ground and the left wheels a couple of inches in the air. Great, I am stuck.
I look around to see if any “friendly country folks” with a big truck and a chain can give me a hand to get the car out. I wait on a deserted road for signs of humanity on wheels.
An unfriendly looking farmer nearby gets out of his house and drives toward me with his track looking at me weird. I explain to him that I fell into a ditch and I politely ask if he has a rope or chain to help me take the car out. He starts yelling at me telling me that I shouldn’t be walking around in front of his farm, and to get out his property. I was not even on his property; I was on a not so small public and well paved road. After very briefly telling him what I thought of the whole thing, I left. Jerk.
Fine. I guess the friendly country folks are not so friendly after all. Better call the tow track. I call AAA, but my AAA membership is expired. Great. I pay the $120 to renew my family super-premium-whatever membership, and I get a track on my way for no extra charge. That was at 7.30am. The track gets there at 10am, when it was just getting too hot to be funny, and gets me out the hole. No damage.
At least during these 2.5 hours a bunch of people stopped to see if I needed any help. Maybe there still are some friendly country folks.
Bloody country.
BTW
I know that the blood is a bit cheesy (and too bright)... however... it just describes how I feel about the (bloody) country and (bloody) farmers today :) :)

Our little friendly garden Robin.. She’s so cute.. We call her ‘she’ but not sure if it’s male or female. We’ve been feeding her each day throughout the cold Winter.. Don’t know if it’s the same Robin from last year or how she survived in such freezing temperatures.
We have two Robins in our garden at the moment, the other Robin is a lot smaller, so don’t know if it’s a mate or one of her young… although she doesn’t seem happy about sharing her food with them.
Hope you’re having a nice day my dear friends..
