More Powder River coal grinds up the hill - power front and rear unseen - as a helper set plus their fuel tank car drifts back down the hill after assisting the previous uphill run. May 2001.

This photo came from my collection of New Haven Railroad negatives, but the original photographers name is unknown.

The 119's were diesel hydraulics built for the DR in Romania. In total 200 were built from 1976 to 1985. Upon unification the class became 219 with DB. They were not hugely successful. 20 of them were completely rebuilt to class 229. These too were not very successful. Most of the 219's had been withdrawn by the late 1990's and all 219's and 229's had gone by 2006.

Venant de passer la belle courbe de St Jean de la Porte, les BB 7367 et 7428 montent une courte rame de wagons porte coïls belges en direction de Modane. 2 février 2008.
EMDX 1607 & 1608 are the rear DPU's on a northbound coal empty from Pueblo as they roll through a very green Larkspur. These two units had been making the rounds testing on various railroads in the summer of 2017, and when BNSF's turn came they put them on the rear of this Comanche empty, which they cycled on between Pueblo and Wyoming for more than a month. Sadly BNSF decided against purchasing any.
EMDX 1607 & 1608 were slated to become UP 3008 & 3009 respectively (hence the yellow paint) before UP decided to buy regular old SD70AH's instead. I believe EMDX 1607 ended up at the TTCI center in Pueblo; 1608 may be there as well, couldn't find any good info as to its current whereabouts.
In the weekend of 23 and 24 January the Betuweroute was closed due engineeringwork in Germany. All the freight trains were diverted via the Brabantroute. A great oppertunity to spot the freighttrains at Hulten, a smaal village east of Breda. On this picture the 189 053 & 046 from DB Cargo are on there way to Rotterdam with an empty ironoretrain
Trein
Amtrak 36, the Desert Wind, meets a Santa Fe westbound at MP 63 on Cajon Pass.
Amazingly, this train had four different car types: conventional streamliner, Amfleet, Hi-level and Superliner. The diner was a former Northern Pacific car.

I don't usually go in for doing panoramic shots, but this one struck me as being a worthwhile trial. I've made this one from two taken merely a couple of seconds apart, showing the western throat of a much-changed Acton Yard - note new underpass being constructed right beneath where I'm stood. 59101 backs into the yard, having arrived from Ardingly and 60087 passes by on the down relief with 6V62 Tilbury to Llanwern, having just left the goods lines. Various 59s and 66s can be seen in the background.
EN: Freighttrain 61154 was well audible more than half an hour before. But suddenly the noise was cut. Silence, nothing to hear! The train was stopped in Perušić station for crossing an very late running IC train in opposite direction. After that crossing the noise of the two 2062 swelled on and some minutes later the train passed the level crossing at Sv Marko.
