The Arizona desert west of Winslow. Interstate 80 parallels the BNSF main line for many miles. Three trains are visible, all intermodals. Two eastbounds are queuing to get into Winslow for crew and/or loco changes, and a westbound is receding with its DPU (rear assisting loco) visible.
The last rays of sunlight on an otherwise cloudy evening in eastern Nebraska find the faded nose of UP 7444 as it works hard upgrade with an empty coal train between Kennard and Arlington, NE.
It is quite the time for not one, but two of Illinois Central’s last four GP40R’s remaining in their Deathstar scheme to be in Memphis at the same time. One would do anything to see 3107 & 3108 together, but for now, it’s still a treat to see them consecutively working the same assignment one after the other.

The venerable Streamliner began service in the Commonwealth Railways (CR) as CL8 "Arabana" (AT26C) in 1971 and was rebuilt in 1993 by MKA Australia as AT26HC-2M.
ALF24 began life as a double-ended locomotive with Australian National as AL22 in 1976 being rebuilt as a single-ender in 1994 by MKA in Whyalla.

Class 56s galore stabled at Sunderland South Dock shed on a clement autumn afternoon. The locomotives are (from left) 56 120, 56 122, 56 133, 56 130, interloper 08 421 and 56 111.
I was screwing around in downtown Rochester NY one morning, which a lot of time meant reading a book at the Amtrak station, which of course was on the busy Conrail main through the city. I vaguely remember a local come around the corner from the west, and then backing down the siding into the Genesee Brewery along the Genesee River.
Whatever the circumstances (the only thing I'm sure of was that I was screwing around downtown) I ended up exposing some Tri-X on the local switching the plant. Most of the siding was on stilts, so to speak along the side of the plant.
Google Maps makes it looks like the track is no longer used.

Having crossed Cornelius Pass, a short Burlington Northern 664 train enters the Astoria Line at United Junction, Oregon. The train's caboose can be seen near the junction switch. That track curving to the right in the distance goes to St. Helens and Astoria.
DB-Cargo 6428 just picked-up a set of 17 freightcars loaded with limeslurry. The loco will bring the train to Lage Zwaluwe where a set of B-logistic locomotives will take over the train and bring them to their final destination Virton in Belgium.
