Freightliner Class 90s, 90011 and 90007 charge through Hartford with 4L60 19:46 Garston Freightliner Terminal to Felixstowe North Freightliner Terminal.
This shot marks a minor milestone, as now means I have a photo of all 13 of Freightliner's expanded Class 90 fleet leading a train. 90011 was also the 50th and final Class 90 I managed to get a photo of, so seems to like hiding from me!
Once dispatch had allowed the train to clear West Kennard it would make a 15mph run over Arlington Hill as all the signals along the way were still displaying a red aspect
NS 211 rumbles southbound into Temple, PA at CP Laurel with NS 8025 leading, passing an overturned covered hopper awaiting disposition.
An westbound eastbound out of Rapid City, SD, bound for Huron, makes its way past the Wasta Sand Plant. The original plan here was to shoot a nice wide angle with the Cheyenne River in the background, but the shadows beat the train, and I ended up with this nice tele-veritical crop instead.
I spent a week in Rapid City on vacation with the family; glancing at the RCPE yard there on a daily basis, I was pleased that all of the power I saw (12-15 locomotives, I think) was still all blue and yellow.
Big tip of the hat to Emily for tucking in the boys that night; was awesome chasing this train into Wall.
A colorful (for BNSF) lashup consisting of BNSF 6591, 1015, 1961, & FXE 4043 leads the Denver to Pueblo mixed freight through Larkspur on a dazzling morning along the Front Range.

I received a heads up that GLC SD35 number 383 was in Clare and would return to Owosso later in the day. After shooting HESR around Saginaw, I followed the line north from Itasca and ran into the train just north of town.
I hadn't been to Old Hill for a while, so when I saw that the Tesco train was due up the bank in relative daylight I decided to make the trip out.
DRS Class 66, 66429, slogs up Old Hill Bank with the Wentloog to Daventry Tesco Train.
CN 874 is approaching Turcot Ouest for a crew change with CN 2151, CN 2172 & CN 8000 for power. The train consists of 99 grain cars for Bécancour, nearly all of them new CN hoppers.
An eastbound Union Pacific train climbs the hill east of Arlington, NE on the first day of 2024. This view would've been pretty well obscured by trees until Union Pacific completed grade work for a second main track over a decade ago, which has obviously never been built. I've always meant to get a shot here since then, and I'm glad things finally came together to check it off the list.
It's 5:57am and the sun has just risen as UP 2002, one of UP's two Salt Lake City Olympic units, leads the MNPDV 22 through Brighton on the Greeley Sub.
A single GP38-2 and a handful of cars make up the last train operated by a Class 1 to run down the "Old Road" of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western. The quiet town of Port Murray was briefly interrupted by the sound of a roots-blown 645 and a sharp Leslie RS3L as the small train rumbled westbound. At the controls of this last run of the H02 is John Sobotka who is also making his last run with Norfolk Southern.
Starting on Monday the new "Dover & Delaware River Railroad" (a subsidiary of the Chesapeake & Delaware) will assume control of all the territory once served by the H02.

Leased to the New York Atlantic Railway is CITX 402, seen sitting in PW siding along with PR20B 300 awaiting the RS50 crew to arrive. CITX 402 does not have the modern day technology needed to lead on the mainline, so the crew will perform a maneuver to get 300 on the west end.

The last rays of sunlight on an otherwise cloudy evening in eastern Nebraska find the faded nose of UP 7444 as it works hard upgrade with an empty coal train between Kennard and Arlington, NE.
It is quite the time for not one, but two of Illinois Central’s last four GP40R’s remaining in their Deathstar scheme to be in Memphis at the same time. One would do anything to see 3107 & 3108 together, but for now, it’s still a treat to see them consecutively working the same assignment one after the other.
