After a two hour wait for the arrival of the Westbound California Zephyr at Gold Run, UP 1111 and the AMICH is on the move. The train is passing through Rocky Point, a half mile above the American River.
CN 527 has a pair of D3 dimensionals up front as it passes MP 3.13 of CN's Montreal Sub during a snowstorm. Power is CN 8021 & BCOL 4609.
Van 6 tot en met 13 september werd in Beekbergen nog een week van de zomervakantie doorgebracht. Tijdens het verblijf in Beekbergen vond op 7 en 8 september het festival Terug naar Toen van de VSM plaats. Op beide dagen werden meerdere treinen tijdens dit festival op de foto gezet.
De zaterdagmorgen begon erg mistig. Hierdoor konden er sfeervolle foto's worden gemaakt. Bij de overweg aan de Ruggeweg was de mist niet zo dik als op andere plekken langs de lijn. Tevens scheen de zon op deze locatie flets door de mist heen. Op de vroege zaterdagmorgen is locomotief 41 241 van de VSM met de eerste goederentrein onderweg naar Beekbergen.

Beginning the arduous climb over Mullan Pass is Burlington Northern train 123 at Tobin, just west of Helena, Montana, on September 10, 1995. A portion of the city of Helena can be seen in the background, including the grand Cathedral of Saint Helena on the far right.
C'est sous un soleil de fin de journée, alors que les maïs alsaciens sont bien poussés, que la BB 37001 descend la plaine d'Alsace, en tête du train 40367 circulant en France entre Zoufftgen et St-Louis. Tango Romeo units TR10 and TR06 can be seen winding and climbing out of Rhyndaston as it heads towards Tiberias. The terrain between Campania and Parattah is very difficult for long and heavy goods trains such as this. However the powerful modern locomotives have no problems negotiating this section with the paper train out of Boyer on Sunday January 8th, 2017.

DGS 89241 Bottrop Süd - Bremen Stahlwerke
Am Abend des 20. März 2022 besuchte ich zum zweiten Mal in diesem Jahr die Fotokurve bei Etelsen. Dort hatte ich es auf Nordfahrer abgesehen. Im zum Lichtstand passenden Zeitraum schauten allerdings nur zwei Güterzüge vorbei. Ein gemischter Montanzug zum Bremer Stahlwerk mit DB Cargo 145er und der obige Kokszug zum selben Ziel. Dieser war mit der 185 533 von "Captrain Cargo West" bespannt und bestand nur aus dunkelgrauen Falns von ERR. Südwärts sah es aber auch nicht besser aus. Einzig ein RTB Cargo Smartron mit einem Altmannzug wäre interessant gewesen. Aber was will man auch an einem Sonntagabend erwarten. Der Nachmittag war da schon deutlich besser und ich konnte an der vorher besuchten Fotostelle bei Dauelsen ein paar nette Südfahrer ablichten. Aber dazu zeige ich in den nächsten Tagen bestimmt auch noch ein Foto...
Conrail’s SFEL4 freight off the Santa Fe makes a beeline through Chesterton, Indiana, over the railroad’s busy Chicago to Elkhart Yard main line on the bright, early summer morning of June 24, 1990. Note that as far as the eye can see, none of the freight cars have graffiti. Sure wish we could have that back!

Back to our ubiquitous TR class locos, this time numbers 06 and 14 as they breeze their long train upgrade towards Rogerville with Friday evening's No 32 paper train. The evidence of all our recent rain can be seen here in an area that rarely does get green!.

The D&H's pair of Baldwin RF-16s, more commonly known as "Sharks", trundle through Rupert, Vermont, on the Washington Branch. The tracks are long gone, but both Sharks and the depot itself still survive, although unfortunately both Sharks are hidden away these days. Photo by Thomas Nemeth, from my collection. No date was listed, but I'm assuming early 1970s.
An eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight soars over 797-foot Marent Trestle east of Evaro, Montana, on the afternoon of July 2, 2000. This is Montana Rail Link’s tallest bridge at 226 feet high, and and is located on the eastern grade of Evaro Hill on the Tenth Subdivision west of Missoula.

MRCE 189 203, mittlerweile eingereiht bei RFO, zählt zu den letzten Maschinen im gelb-silbernen Dispolok-Outfit. bei Bottrop-Welheim zieht sie einen Containerzug an der Kokerei von Arcelor Mittal vorbei.

Gister heb ik een foto van de DB Cargo 193 338 geupload toen hij halverwege maart mij passeerde in Hulten. Diezelfde loc heeft begin juni een hashtag op de zijkant gekregen met de naam "DBCargofährt". Dit om te laten zien dat ook tijdens de coronacrisis DB Cargo haar werk blijft voortzetten. Dit was ook goed te zien, want in een half dagje waren er weer stervens veel DB Cargo treinen te zien bij rangeeerterrein Köln Gremberg. Hoe toepasselijk is het dan ook als de DB Cargo 193 338 even voorbij komt gereden.
De DB Cargo 193 338 "#DBCargofährt" verlaat samen met de DB Cargo 186 502 "Een job bij DB Cargo?", welke in opzending is, het vormingsstation genaamd Köln Gremberg. De twee locomotieven hebben een lange gemengde goederentrein op sleeptouw waarmee ze onderweg naar Aachen West zijn. Te Aachen West zal de DB Cargo 193 338 de trein verlaten en de DB Cargo 186 502 de trein in haar eentje naar het Belgische Antwerpen Noord brengen!
Van 4 t/m 6 september 2024 konden mijn treinenspotmaat en ik eindelijk weer eens samen op pad. De weervoorspellingen voor ons "treinenland" Tsjechië leken drie dagen op een rij perfect en qua werk en privé pastte het ook net. Er stond weer (te) veel op het programma en er konden weer lekker veel treinen en stekken worden afgestreept. Er werd cargo gescoord aan de hoofdlijnen en steeds meer verdwijnende klassieke tractie aan de "kleine" diesellijntjes werd tussendoor ook meegepakt.
Vorig jaar hadden we in Chotěboř aan de diesellijn Havlíčkův Brod-Ždírec nad Doubravou al een poging gedaan om een goederentrein met als tractie een 750 te scoren. Toen zat er een fraaie 742 voor de trein. Niet verkeerd uiteraard, maar we wilden toch graag een 750. Daarom werd op de vroege ochtend van vrijdag 6 september een nieuwe poging ondernomen. De afgelopen weken zat de zeer fraaie 750 333 in de omloop. We zagen in de week dat wij er zaten de omloop al wijzigen. De 750 103 zou de goederentreinen gaan rijden en dat is ook zeker een gave machine. Met de verwachting dat we in ieder geval een 750 zouden scoren reden we die ochtend al vroeg naar Chotěboř.
Onderweg reden we op een wolkenfront af. Als we naar het oosten reden, lieten we het front al vrij snel achter of naast ons, maar iedere keer als Google Maps onder meer richting het zuiden en westen stuurde reden we recht op de wolken af. Uiteindelijk lag onze stek dicht bij de wolken en de sluiers en zat de zon ook al een paar keer half of helemaal achter de wolken. Op de geplande doorkomsttijd scheen de zon mooi, maar kwam de trein helaas niet opdagen. Door vertragingen in de stoptreindienst werd de trein waarschijnlijk wat langer vastgehouden op het beginpunt Havlíčkův Brod. Het werd steeds spannender met de bewolking en we hoopten dan ook dat de goederentrein direct zou vertrekken na binnenkomst van de stoptrein in Havlíčkův Brod. Dat gebeurde gelukkig ook. Op de gewenste tijd ging de bellen van de overweg rinkelen en verraadde een zwaar geronk de komst van onze gewenste trein. Nu stond er voor deze dag nog geen lok in het omloopschema op internet, dus het was nog spannend of er daadwerkelijk een 750 voor de trein zou zitten. Gelukkig zat de mooie 750 103 voor de trein en kon er tevreden een plaat worden geschoten.
Hier zien we de ČDC 750 103-4 met goederentrein Pn 62670 Havlíčkův Brod-Ždírec nad Doubravou bij Chotěboř op 6-9-2024.
An extra NMWA is seen rounding the curve at MP77 in Etna, behind GP40 344. The low winter sun helps illuminate the 344's Guilford paint, which hasn't faded too badly compared to a lot of its brethren, although if you look closely around the cab, spots of Conrail blue are starting to appear. The twenty-some odd loads of dirty dirt behind it from Sobin's in Orrington are, as always, a good workout for the tired old EMD.
4 Freigtht Trains with ÖBB class 1116 in Hohenau. One of them was mine, but i don't remember exactly which. But, since that evening I never saw such a cool " Taurus Freight Train " Parade again ... ; )

Continuing a long tradition of Lehigh Valley painted units on trains over the Delaware & Hudson, the 8104 leads 11R as they charge up Richmondville Hill. Fortunately for myself and Brian Plant, NS provided a recrew for this train at Mohawk Yard in time to get a bit of a chase south on the D&H, something I hadn't done in about fifteen years, so thanks again to Brian for being a tour guide out here.
As much as I try to avoid using my drone whenever possible, there are some times when I'm just too intrigued as to what it would look like. I didn't expect the view of the Battle River Valley, looking northeast, to be half as pretty as this - but I couldn't help but feel amazed looking at the drone controller. A westbound grain train led by a newly rebuilt AC44C6M set the stage, as they rolled across the expanse. Although the trestle looks smaller from the sky, the true size of it is amplified when you can see the whole train in one image. I try not to fall in love with drone images too often, as I think they're kind of cheating… but I couldn't think of a better photo to end the trip with.

Am Freitagnachmittag ging es nochmal kurz an die Rollbahn denn neben einer HHPI EuroDual hat sich noch die SEL mit ihrer hübschen 120 144 aus Bremerhaven angekündigt.
Mit einem beladenen Milsped Ganzzug hat der Zug hier soeben Twistringen hinter sich gelassen und rollt in Richtung Süden.

A westbound Union Pacific manifest heads into the setting sun at Biggs, Oregon. It's Labor Day weekend 1990, and there's not a lot of other traffic to chase along the Columbia. Finding a UP train led by a C30-7 is a treat to be savored.
Note the expedient sun shade on the fireman’s side of the windshield.
Coming out of Logan at a crawl it would stop behind other traffic waiting for Mo Valley and Cal Jct to be cleared up.
Alpha Train's 185 529-5 called "Michaela" currently hired to TX Logistik came across with a freight train mostly consisting of DSV and arcese trailers.

Running slightly late, Job 1 charges upgrade through the rock cut just west of Bodfish, with a pair of barns and a GP38-3 for power. This is one of several spots in that general area where CP blasted their way through the sides of mountains in the area, leaving behind impressive rock faces that generally work well for photography.
Tradition dictates that I post a great photo of Milwaukee Road #156, the SD40-2 bicentennial unit for 1976, each Fourth of July. This beauty in red, white, and blue has always been my favorite of the railroads that painted units to celebrate our 200th anniversary. Here we see her on point at Easton, WA on May 24, 1977.
