Thanks to the driver for the toot and the wave.
The Tronox train (the mining company name today) preparing to depart Port Flat with fugly twins CM3308 and 09 emblazoned in Bowmans Rail decals on Saturday Dec 11, 2021. The double-stacks of the distinctive green ore containers makes an impressive sight at the rear of the train.

Progressive Rail has no shortage of traffic at its yard in Northfield, MN. With dozens of cars arriving daily from UP and CP for customers in Northfield, Faribault, Lakeville, Randolph and Cannon Falls, they must be doing something right.
Certainly not as attractive as the SD39/SD38-2 duo in MN&S inspired livery, but, good to see that business is booming. The third unit on this train, a blue CIT leaser (CEFX 3800), which leads the return job, is pretty good looking though.
Malt-o-Meal, or "MOM Brands" as they're called now, was founded in Northfield, and having grown up there, I'm a sucker for including them in my shots, even if it's a bit sidelit (sorry DK).
Keen-eyed viewers will also see the northbound Soo job, which will depart as soon as Progressive gets out of the way.
The vast majority of the leaves along the CRVC are toast now, but a few trees are managing to stave off the complete arrival of brown season here.
Here PGR's leased MP15AC heads back to Northfield with a dozen cars from Cannon Falls and Randolph.
I am writing this caption while at a hotel in Chicago, surrounded by images and memorabilia from the Chicago and North Western Railroad (CNW). Founded in 1859, the CNW was a Class I Railroad based of Chicago with service to many Midwestern States. The CNW remained in business until 1995, when it was merged into the Union Pacific system.
I never had an opportunity to document the CNW. Fortunately, some CNW rolling stock has lasted within the Union Pacific system. In this shot, the UP 6706 (formally CNW 8804) races southbound along the Valley Subdivision at Rawson, California. The 6706 is the last locomotive with CNW paint in the entire UP network. It is amazing that the patch job lasted over 25 years since the merger.

Don't find many colorful consists on BNSF these days, so it was nice to catch this one passing Rattlesnake Butte in Greenland.

GB Railfreight Class 60, 60002 "Graham Farish 50th Anniversary 1970-2020" brings its load of biomass round the curve from Northwich as it approaches Lostock Gralam with 6E10 09:55 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station.
The recently repainted and renamed Class 60 was still looking very smart despite ending its first full week back on the biomass circuit after over a year in Toton for repairs and mods.
Allegheny Valley Railroad's AVR-1 crosses over Blair Street in the Glenwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA with a decent sized train from Glenwood Yard for interchange with the B&P at sunset. The train sports a sharp trio of former NS/CR SD60Ms, CLXX 6001, 6003 and 6004, formerly NS 6782, 6792 and 6794, respectively.
Progressive Rail's CRVC Job has just arrived from Cannon Falls, and is switching the industries at the industrial park in Randolph.
Normally I'd clone out my shadow, but, my youngest, Lucas, was up on my shoulders and waving, so I've kept it in for selfish nostalgic reasons.
With their train put together, AVR-6 ascends the Glenwood Running Track over Blair Street as they pull towards the CSX P&W Sub on their move to Island Avenue.
