The church finds in front of the Chigi's palace, like a point of junction of the square with the two fountains and the town's centre. The present aspect of the church has been completely modified by the building of the viaduct, that splitting the square in two parts has destroyed the perspectives designed by Bernini. The church's architectural structure, a circular plan, reminds in some way of the Church of the Pantheon in Rome. It was ended in 1664 and it is was completely stuccoed by A. Raggi. The fresco in the apsidal bowl-shaped vault, representing the Assumption, was painted by G. Borgognone. The side altars are decorated by several paintings, among which those painted by the Gimignani brothers, by R. Vanni, and by B. Mei.

Bernini did not build many churches from scratch, rather his efforts were concentrated on pre-existing structures, and in particular St. Peter's. He fulfilled three commissions for new churches; his stature allowed him the freedom to design the structure and decorate the interiors in a consistent manner. Best known is the small oval baroque church of Sant'Andrea al Quirinale, a work which Bernini's son, Domenico, reports his father was very pleased with. Bernini also designed churches in Castelgandolfo (San Tommaso da Villanova, 1658–1661) and Ariccia (Santa Maria Assunta, 1662–1664). (Wikipedia)

[ENG] The Jardins de Metis, also known as Reford Gardens, they are a few gardens of English style placed in Grand-Métis, Québec, Canada. They were opened for the public in 1962, in 1995 they were declared as Historical National Place and in 2013 as Patrimonial Site, and they are recognized internationally as an exceptional work of art of gardening. They are the fruit of the work of the passionate one, Elsie Reford, that between 1926 and 1958 transformed his fishing camp into a private paradise. Approximately 3.000 species and varieties of plants are distributed in approximately fifteen gardens. Works of contemporary art sow the route and they join with harmony the historical gardens. Every year celebrates the "International Garden Festival" in that they show contemporary gardens created by architects, landscape painters and artists of international reputation.
