The Schnoor quarter is the oldest documented quarter of Bremen and it has largely preserved its medieval character.
First mentioned in the 13th century. The two oldest remaining buildings are from 1401 and 1402 respectively. Some buildings are just remaining facades or have been relocated from other locations.

The area of Xochimilco, located SE Mexico City, is what remains of the old wetlands, fed by fresh water springs, which covered the whole basin in the Pre-Hispanic period. Partially filled to create chinampas (artificial islands), it constitutes a canal system that was the main transportation venue until the 20th Century. Encompasing unique endangered plants and fauna, the whole area is seriously threatened since pumping of the underground water rocketed along the past century. It was delclared World Heritage Site in 1987, as an attempt to protect the area. It's a very popular place, not only for foreing visitors: locals, including Mexico City's entire families, do often go there to celebrate events, hiring one or more big trajineras along wiht Mariachis, to have lunch together.
El área de Xochimilco se sitúa al SE de la Ciudad de Maexico, es lo que queda del antiguo humedal, alimentado por manantiales de agua dulce, que cubría toda la cuenca en el Periodo Pre-Hispánico. Parcialmente rellenado para crear chinampas (islas artificiales), constituye un sistemas de canales que fue el principal medio de transporte hasta el siglo 20. Alberga ejemplares únicos de fauna y vegetación, y todo el área está seriamente amenazada desde que el bombeo de agua de los acuífieros se disparó a lo largo del pasado siglo. Fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1987, en un intento de proteger la zona. Es un sitio muy popular, no solo para los extranjeros: los habitantes de la zona, incluyendo familias enteras de la Ciudad de Mexico, acuden allí a menudo para celebrar eventos, alquilando una o varias grandes trajineras junto a algún Mariachi, paa comer juntos.

ENG: On the way to the Baltic Sea coast to Usedom-Zinnowitz. Somewhere on the B111 highway in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania near Züssow and heavy snowfall. Funnily enough, I finally saw snow here in this winter. Sorry, it's spring already on April 1st. No joke. And then a good 20 centimeters. Now spring can come.
GER: Auf dem Weg zur Ostseeküste nach Usedom-Zinnowitz. Irgendwo auf der Landstraße B111 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern bei Züssow und dichtem Schneetreiben. Irrwitzigerweise habe ich hier endlich mal Schnee diesen Winter gesehen. Entschuldigung, es ist ja am 1. April schon Frühling. Kein Scherz. Und dann gleich gute 20 Zentimeter. Nun darf der Frühling ruhig kommen.

ENG: A wonderful 48 megapixel view from the 1838 meter high Breitenberg, across the Kesselmoos to the Aggenstein. The Aggenstein is a 1986 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps and Tyrol directly on the border of Germany and Austria. There it is located in the Bavarian part of the Tannheimer mountains a few kilometers south of the town of Pfronten in Germany and Vils in Austria.

GER: Ein wunderbarer 48 Megapixel Blick vom 1838 Meter hohen Breitenberg, quer übers Kesselmoos zum Aggenstein. Der Aggenstein ist ein 1986 m ü. A. hoher Berg in den Allgäuer Alpen und Tirol direkt auf der Grenze von Deutschland und Österreich. Dort befindet er sich im bayerischen Teil der Tannheimer Berge wenige Kilometer südlich von der Stadt Pfronten in Deutschland sowie Vils in Österreich.
Wegen seiner Einzigartigkeit und der engen Bindung an Wälder mit alten Baumbeständen hat am 7. Oktober 2005 der Naturschutzbund Deutschland e. V. und BirdLife Österreich den Kleiber zum Vogel des Jahres 2006 in Deutschland und Österreich gekürt. Dies ist damit auch ein Plädoyer für den Schutz von Eichen- und Buchenwäldern.
ENG: The Ephraim Palace is a rococo building reconstructed in the 1980s on the edge of the Nikolaiviertel in Berlin's Mitte district. It was built and opened in 1762-1766 by the architect Friedrich Wilhelm Diterichs. Today it is a listed building and is considered one of the most beautiful historic town houses in the city. As the Ephraim-Palais Museum, it now belongs to the Foundation Stadtmuseum Berlin.

GER: Das Ephraim-Palais ist ein in den 1980er Jahren rekonstruiertes Rokokogebäude am Rande des Nikolaiviertels im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte. Erbaut und eröffnet wurde es 1762-1766 vom Architekten Friedrich Wilhelm Diterichs. Es ist heutzutage denkmalgeschützt und gilt als eines der schönsten historischen Bürgerhäuser der Stadt. Als Museum Ephraim-Palais gehört es heute zur Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin.

ENG: In my smartphone memory is now a bit longer a small picture series with 7 photos of the newest subway station of Berlin. The speech is here from the subway station Museum Island (Museumsinsel).
The "Museuminsel" subway station is one of three of the newest subway stations in Berlin's Mitte district of the same name. It is part of the extension of the U5 underground line from Hönow deep in the east of the city beyond Alexanderplatz to Brandenburg Gate and on to the terminus at Hauptbahnhof. Construction had its groundbreaking ceremony in 2010 and it was ceremonially opened in mid-2021. The mega highlight here is the integrated starry sky. The other two new stations are also already in operation and bear the names "Rotes Rathaus" and "Unter den Linden".

GER: In meinem Smartphone Speicher liegt jetzt schon etwas länger eine kleine Bilder Serie mit 7 Fotos vom neusten U-Bahnhof Berlins. Die Rede ist hier vom U-Bahnhof Museumsinsel.
Der U-Bahnhof „Museumsinsel“ ist einer von drei der neusten U-Bahnhöfe im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Er ist Teil der Verlängerung der U-Bahn-Linie U5 von Hönow tief im Osten der Stadt über den Alexanderplatz hinaus zum Brandenburger Tor bis zur Endstation Hauptbahnhof. Der Bau hatte seinen ersten Spatenstich 2010 und er wurde Mitte 2021 feierlich eröffnet. Das mega Highlight ist hier der integrierte Sternenhimmel. Die anderen zwei neuen Bahnhöfe sind ebenfalls schon in Betrieb und tragen die Namen „Rotes Rathaus“ sowie „Unter den Linden“.

GER: Der Herbst hat viele Gesichter, ob Regen, Nebel, fallendes buntes Laub und die kürzer werdenden Tage mit der Dunkelheit. So wie bei diesem shot, der leichte Nieselregen und der tiefe Nebel am Rande von Berlin.
Goldener Oktober überm Großen Ahornboden
ENG: The Beer Brush is a 47-metre-high tower restaurant in futuristic pop architecture of the 1970s in the Berlin district of Steglitz. The popular name comes from the Berlin vernacular; the association of architects who designed the building was a tree. The tower, which opened in 1976, was built according to plans by architects Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte, who also designed the ICC Berlin. It is integrated into the Joachim-Tiburtius-Bridge, which spans the Steglitzer Schloßstreet at Franz-Amrehn-Place in the form of an expressway. In 2010 the facade of the beer brush was redesigned by international street art artists. Since 2011 the building has been closed for the time being due to organisational problems. The building has been a listed building since January 2017.

GER: Der Bierpinsel ist ein 47 Meter hohes Turmrestaurant in futuristisch anmutender Poparchitektur der 1970er Jahre im Berliner Ortsteil Steglitz. Die volkstümliche Benennung entstammt dem Berliner Volksmund; die Assoziation der Architekten, die den Bau entwarfen, war ein Baum. Der 1976 eröffnete Turm wurde nach Plänen der Architekten Ralf Schüler und Ursulina Schüler-Witte erbaut, die auch das ICC Berlin entwarfen. Er ist in die Joachim-Tiburtius-Brücke integriert, die an dieser Stelle die Steglitzer Schloßstraße am Franz-Amrehn-Platz in Form einer Schnellstraße überspannt. Im Jahre 2010 wurde damit begonnen, die Fassade des Bierpinsels neu zu gestalten von internationalen Streetart-Künstlern. Seit 2011 ist das Gebäude vorerst geschlossen wegen Organisatorischen Problemen. Seit Januar 2017 steht der Bau unter Denkmalschutz.

ENG: At night to an Suburban train station in the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg. The S-Bahn at Greifswalder Straße is once again late. Waiting on the platform is easier if you can take a few pictures. As here for example with an empty advertising board as an eye-catcher.
GER: Nachts auf einen S-Bahnhof im Berliner Bezirk Prenzlauer Berg. Die S-Bahn an der Greifswalder Straße hat mal wieder Verspätung. Da macht sich das warten auf dem Bahnsteig doch leichter wenn man ein paar Bilder machen kann. Wie hier zum Beispiel mit einer leeren Werbetafel als Blickfang.

ENG: Here you will get an overview of the royal castle town Schwangau in the Bavarian Allgäu. I have taken this photo from the balcony of Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle Hohenschwangau as well as the turquoise alp lake and the tourist stronghold Schwangau can be seen.
GER: Hier bekommt ihr einen überblick über den Königsschlösser Ort Schwangau im bayrischen Allgäu. Diese Aufnahme habe ich vom Balkon des Schloss Neuschwanstein geknipst. Zu sehen ist das Schloss Hohenschwangau sowie der türkisfarbene Alpsee und die Touristenhochburg Schwangau.
ENG: Travemünde is a casual resort on the Baltic Sea and a port for Scandinavian ferries. Fish restaurants line the banks of the Trave River and the Travemünde beach promenade overlooking the Bay of Lübeck. Fish sandwiches are sold at stalls in the fishing port. The Old Lighthouse from 1539, a brick building, now houses a maritime museum. The historic four-masted barque Passat can be visited for a fee.
The Passat is a four-masted steel barque that was launched as one of the legendary Flying P-Liners of the F. Laeisz shipping company in 1911 at Blohm & Voss and is now moored in Travemünde harbor. At that time, she sailed, for example, from Europe and South America or between Australia and Europe as a wheat cargo sailing ship.

GER: Travemünde ist ein zwangloser Ferienort an der Ostsee und ein Hafen für skandinavische Fähren. Fischrestaurants säumen die Ufer der Trave und der Strandpromenade von Travemünde mit Blick auf die Lübecker Bucht. An Ständen im Fischereihafen werden Fischbrötchen verkauft. Im Alten Leuchtturm von 1539, einem Backsteinbau, befindet sich heute ein Schifffahrtsmuseum. Die historische Viermastbark Passat kann im Rahmen eines Entgeltes besichtigt werden.
Die Passat ist eine Viermast-Stahlbark, die als einer der legendären Flying P-Liner der Reederei F. Laeisz 1911 bei Blohm & Voss vom Stapel lief und heute im Hafen von Travemünde liegt. Damals fuhr sie zum Beispiel von Europa und Südamerika oder zwischen Australien und Europa als Weizen Frachtsegelschiff.

ENG: A futuristic subway journey through the new HafenCity quarter of Hamburg on the U4 line. Here you can see a view of the subway platforms from the Skywalk. The design of the subway station is also a small architectural highlight here, as the steel girders on the outside support the inner glass facade in the form of tubes.
The Hamburg-Elbbrücken station is a junction of the Hamburg subway (U4) and the Hamburg suburban railroad (S3, S31) in the Elbbrückenzentrum, a subquarter of HafenCity at the northern end of the Freihafenelbbrücke or Eisenbahn-Elbbrücke with a stop for the suburban railroad and a stop for the subway. Zweibrückenstrasse passes under these stations. Between them run several long-distance railroad tracks and the Freihafenelbbrücke street, which is crossed by a pedestrian bridge, the so-called "Skywalk". The plan is to provide public transport access to eastern HafenCity, parts of Rothenburgsort and northern Veddel. The junction's subway station was opened on 6 December 2018 and went into operation on 7 December 2018. The S-Bahn station was symbolically opened on 14 December 2019, with the start of operations on 15 December 2019.

GER: Eine futuristische U-Bahn Reise durchs neue HafenCity Quartier von Hamburg mit der Linie U4 und zu sehen ist hier ein Blick vom Skywalk auf die U-Bahnsteige. Die Gestaltung des U-Bahnhofs ist auch hier ein kleines Architektonisches Highlight, da die außen liegenden Stahlträger die innere Glasfassade in Röhrenform tragen.
Der Bahnhof Hamburg-Elbbrücken ist ein Knotenpunkt der U-Bahn Hamburg (U4) und der S-Bahn Hamburg (S3, S31) im Elbbrückenzentrum, einem Teilquartier der HafenCity am nördlichen Ende der Freihafenelbbrücke bzw. der Eisenbahn-Elbbrücke mit einem Haltepunkt der S-Bahn und einer Haltestelle der U-Bahn. Die Stationen werden von der Zweibrückenstraße unterquert. Zwischen beiden verlaufen mehrere Fernbahngleise sowie der Straßenzug Freihafenelbbrücke, über die eine Fußgängerbrücke, der so genannte „Skywalk“, hinwegführt. Geplant ist damit eine ÖPNV-Erschließung der östlichen HafenCity, von Teilen Rothenburgsorts sowie der nördlichen Veddel. Der U-Bahnhof des Knotenpunktes wurde am 6. Dezember 2018 eröffnet und ging am 7. Dezember 2018 in Betrieb. Der S-Bahnhof wurde am 14. Dezember 2019 symbolisch eröffnet, die Inbetriebnahme erfolgte zum 15. Dezember 2019.
ENG: Hi, everybody out there. Somehow it's strange when the landmarks of a city are so empty. Only very few people have crossed my way on Monday during my little bike tour to free my head from the clinic everyday life. That is somehow eerie and surreal.

GER: Hi ihr lieben da draußen. Irgendwie ist es schon komisch, wenn die Wahrzeichen einer Stadt so verweist sind. Nur ganz ganz wenige Leute haben meinen Weg am Montag gekreuzt bei meiner kleinen Radtour um den Kopf vom Klinik Alltag freizubekommen. Das ist schon irgendwie unheimlich und surreal.
Zu sehen ist der Brandenburger Tor im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte.
ENG: The city is still empty early in the morning. No people at the stop, an empty tram and then boredom comes up. So I take some pictures. ☻
GER: Die Stadt ist am frühen Morgen noch leer. Keine Menschen an der Haltestelle, eine leere Straßenbahn und dann kommt Langeweile auf. Also mache ich ein paar Bilder. ☻

You can see the Maritim Beach Hotel in Travemünde! This huge white building block standing directly on the beach can be seen for kilometers in the Bay of Lübeck and is thus definitely a recognizable feature of the region. I took this photo from the historic old lighthouse.
