The Lodge and Golf Course at Edgewood Tahoe, Stateline, Nevada
The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe, a 154-room, non-gaming hotel with spa, restaurant, conference center and other amenities including a small public beach, all adjoining the existing Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course was announced in 2015 (opened in June 2017) and expected to cost more than $100 million. In 2010 Chuck Scharer was named president and CEO of Edgewood Companies (formerly Park Cattle Company), retiring in 2016. He was instrumental in bringing the $100 million Edgewood Tahoe Hotel to reality. "Like grand lodges of the American West, we hope it will inspire awe with its views and location," Chuck Scharer said. Edgewood Companies is owned by members of the Park family, descendants of pioneer cattle ranchers who settled at South Tahoe in the 1870's.
The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe is described as being "reminiscent of the great national park facilities" The interior designers use of wood and rock give the decor a mountain theme. The Lodge projects a rustic waterfront profile that provides vistas, by way of a Great Room, out onto Tahoe's waters. This is the world class resort that South Lake Tahoe has needed for years.
In the early 1970s Brooks Park obtained permits to construct a major hotel facility on their ranch land. That facility opened in 1978 as the Park Tahoe. Soon after, family patriarch Brooks Park realized he was a rancher and not a resort operator. The hotel, although not the land beneath it, was let go. It was leased to Caesars Tahoe. The hotel was operated by Caesars until 2006 when the lease was obtained by Columbia Sussex and rebranded as the MontBleu Casino. Park Cattle Co. also leases land at Lake Tahoe to Harveys and the Horizon Resort - now the Hard Rock Hotel.
Bobby King is General Manager of Edgewood Tahoe and serves on the company's management executive committee. He has over 30 years of experience at Edgewood Tahoe. Corinna Osborne is the Director of Hotel Operations. Osborne previously held operational roles as Food and Beverage Manager at Montbleu Resort Lake Tahoe and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe. Randy Fox holds the position of Director of Golf
Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, 100 Lake Parkway, Stateline, Nevada
The Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, designed by George Fazio, opened in 1968. Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course had its origins as part of the cattle grazing land the Park family bought in the 1860's. Owned by Brooks Park (Park Cattle Company), he contracted with Del Webb Construction for most of the golf course construction. George Fazio said "The setting for the course had everything, the lake, snow -capped mountains and beautiful pine trees. My job was to complement what nature provided." George Fazio became involved with Edgewood through resort pioneer Del Webb, a mutual friend of Brooks Park. He said Brooks Park wanted only the best!
First general manager at the Edgewood Golf Course was Harley Williams, formerly with Hidden Valley Country club in Reno. The course has the distinction of playing in two states - Nevada and California. Edgewood has been the home to the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, a made-for-TV event owned and broadcast by NBC Sports, since 1991.
This is a photograph from the second running of the Athlone Flatline Half Marathon ("The Flatline") was held at Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Saturday 14th September 2013 at 11:00. There was beautiful weather for the event which started and finished at St. Aloysius College near the Canal Banks area of the town just slightly west of the River Shannon. This event was professionally organised and the very flat course meant that many runners both seasoned and new to the scene achieved season or personal bests. Almost 1,000 participants successfully completed the event in the beautiful September sunshine. Everyone involved must be congratulated for the flawless running of the event. This event is sure to go from strength to strength over the coming years. The "Flatline" also included an option for a full marathon which was fully supported by the Marathon Club of Ireland and the East of Ireland Marathon Series. This allowed participants to run the Flatline twice for the qualifying marathon distance. About 80 people took part.
This is a photograph which is part of a larger set of photographs taken at the start and finish of "The Flatline" 2013. The URL of the main set is www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157635495089498/. There are some photographs of the finishers of the marathon.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: Such is the popularity of the race this year that registration closed for the race in mid-August 2013. There were well over 1,000 participants who took to the start line.
Weather: The weather on the day was almost perfect for running. The runners were bathed in warm September sunshine for the duration of the race and into the early afternoon. In the sections of the race out towards Clonown and around the Bord na Mona areas there was a stiff breeze but nothing major.
Course: "The Flatline" ceratinly lived up to its name. It is as flat a course as one is likely to find. A garmin connect gps trace of the route is provided here [connect.garmin.com/activity/199678412] Geographically the course spends much of the race in County Roscommon with only the first and last kilometers actually in County Westmeath. This gives geographically inclined runners the novel opportunity to race in two Irish provinces in one race. The course had distance markers at every kilometre and mile along the way. There were official pacers provided by the race organisers.
Location Map: Start/finish area and registration etc on Google StreetView [goo.gl/maps/8qCes] - Ample parking was supplied with some over-flow car-parking options also available.
Refreshments: An Alkohol Frei bottle of Erdinger was provided to every finisher as they crossed the line. Light refreshments were served.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Danse Macabre 15/10/2024 13h27
Two weeks before the opening of Danse Macabre, Otto and Virgini Charlatan are of course present near Huyverwoud, but there is no trace of the Esmaralde barrel organ.
Photo uploaded on 26/10/2024 the day the first group of subscribers with Premium status were able to receice a time slot for their first visit.
Danse Macabre
Danse Macabre is a future attraction in the Efteling that is named after the symphonic poem Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns. The ghost attraction will use a large turntable (type: Dynamic Motion Stage, manufacturer: Intamin) with a diameter of eighteen meters. On the large turntable there are six smaller turntables with six choir stalls on top. There is room for 108 visitors per ride. During the ride, the large turntable will rise, tilt and spin like a coin. The capacity is 1250 people per hour and the attraction is suitable for children from 8 years old. The entrance will be located near the Piraña, the Abbey Square. Its theme is 'horror' and will take the place of the former Spookslot. The building will consist of a 20-meter-high abbey and will take visitors into creepy and mysterious spaces. The music from the Haunted Castle, Danse macabre, will be transferred to this new attraction. Part of the old Spookslot wall and tower, with perhaps some minor adjustments, will also become part of the new Huiverwoud theme area. The total theme area will be approximately 17,000 m2. .
The total cost is €30 million and the opening is planned for the autumn of 2024 (expected to be October). Danse Macabre is the only attraction in the themed area Huyverwoud.

12/365 Jaymi
I had registered Jaymi for a rec. centre course a long time ago, and figured as long as I came with her, she could still do it. It was a Chocolate-Making course!
She absolutely loved it. They made tons of little chocolates, got to eat them of course, and even got to do a chocolate painting to eat at home!
*I have decided to start another 365 of Jaymi, beginning on the first day of her 'new life' with a healthier brain. She is so lucky to be alive, and this 365 will be a celebration of the wonderful little girl that is Jaymi.*
Don’t we all have an instinct to don body armor, pack a pistol and attack the police? It’s not like he was doing something threatening, like ringing a doorbell or backing out of a driveway.
Perfectly rational action for a patriotic tourist.
This is a photograph from the Tullamore Harriers AC "Quinlan Cup" Half Marathon which was held on Saturday 29th August 2015 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland at 12:00. This is the third year of the event. The race is organised and promoted by Tullamore Harriers AC. The race starts on the Charleville Road just outside the entrance to Tullamore Harriers. The race proceeds south along the R421 and onto the N52 before taking a route onto local back roads. The race then completes a large rural road route before it joins to the R421 again and the final 1.5 miles are the same as the first mile of the race. The runners enter Tullamore stadium and complete one lap of the tartan track before the finish line. The course is challenging in places with some undulations along the route. But overall it is fair course. 2013 seen the first year of the event as the club commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the formation of Tullamore Harriers AC which today is one of Ireland's best known athletics clubs.
The race was perfectly organised. The weather was good for racing but there was a very strong headwind for the first 6 miles of the race which made the conditions difficult. The weather was dry and warm except for the torrential downpour at around 1:45pm which cleared the whole finish area of spectators and runners. There were stewarts all along the route, 3 drink stations with bottled water, superb facilities, and great after-race refreshments. The stewards along the route provided great encouragement to all of the runners. Tullamore Harriers and the local community really worked together to make this is a wonderful event. There was also a relay option where teams of two can run approximately 10.5km each. In total almost 700 participants took part. This was higher than the 568 participants who completed the race which is almost 150 more than the 2013 event.
We have a large set of photographs from today's race at the start and the finish until the 2-00 finish time. They are available on Flickr at www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157655560294853

As mentioned above this race half marathon started in 2013 and celebrated the 60th Anniversary (a Diamond Anniversary) of the foundation of Tullamore Harriers AC. The club was formed in the town in November 1953. However, it was almost 1979 before facilities close to what we see today open in the present day site. Over 50 provincial and national athletics meetings are held at Tullamore Harriers every year. The facilities available combined with it's central geographical location joining routes from North, South, East, and West make it a very attractive venue. The half marathon today firmly brings competitive national road racing back to "The Harriers". The Quinlan Cup which will be awarded to the winning club team. For more than 40 years the Harriers Quinlan Cup was the most prestigious event on the road racing calendar. Having started as a cross-country race back in 1957, it became a road race in 1967 and remained so until 2000 when the race was last held. During its reign as a blue-ribband event the Quinlan Cup was won by the likes of John Treacy and Eamonn Coughlan.
Today, the facilities at Tullamore Harriers are the envy of many athletics clubs in Ireland. The facilities provided by Tullamore make it one of the premier venues for local and national level athletics in Ireland. There is an Olympic standard tartan track, a fully equipped gym, changing facilities, press and media facilities, meeting room spaces, etc. The club also provides a social center and niteclub which makes "The Harriers" a very well known on the local social scene. Esssentially, the town of Tullamore would be a different place if it weren't for the presence of Tullamore Harriers AC.

2nd Course: "Scrambled Scallops"
Scrambled scallop mousse with caviar served in an egg shell.
Paired with Elyse Winery's "L'Ingenue" (Failed to take a picture. Sorry!)
Notes: This course was incredibly briney. As a friend at my table described it, this dish tasted like the ocean breeze as experienced on the end of a pier. This flavor was even more intensified with the wine pairing. In fact, the effect of adding the white "L'Ingenue" wine was like eating oysters on a half shell - very raw sea and shellfish flavors. The wine was very shallow and light on its own, but man, paired with the scallops and caviar - bang! It hit it off with a lot of flavor!
The scallops were the consisitency of very loose scrambled eggs, or like oeufs brouillés. I haven't seen the recipe yet, but I imagine it's scallop mousse that's been scrambled with lots of cream and butter. Lots.
The caviar was very salty (no need for any additional salting at all) and the eggs added to the already briney scrambled scallops. Although it was meant as a decoration and "holder" for the egg shells, I enjoyed the red peppercorns with this dish.
Some of the dishes toward the end of the service featured mis-matched egg shells, which depending on your sense of humor, you may find "cute" or downright sloppy on the kitchen's part. Many of the eggs were cracked, as well, and some of plates featured the top half of the egg shell (the shallow smaller end) filled, or rather, over-flowing with scallops and caviar with the bottom half as the cap. Very clumsy.
I was especially dismayed by the lack of spoons for this course. Not only should we have been provided spoons, but they should be demi-tasse spoons - small enough to scoop out all the lovielies in the shell with. Instead, we had to have scoop half drink the contents with forks. We ended up just doing scrambled scallop shooters. Appreciated the clever double-meaning presentation, but was not practical at all.
