These guys took the concept of a cookbook quite literally...

They started with half a cup of inspiration, added the same amount of imagination then they mixed in two tablespoons of organization. Unfortunately, they put the heat too high but they quickly realized their mistake and still created a masterpiece. Should be a delicious read!

Here’s the cookbook I’ve been using and a shot of the finished Tuscan Bean Soup. I got the book on Amazon for about $22. My best advice is follow the recipes....add all the spices and quantities listed.....this strictness allows for the best flavors on your plate. I also prep all my ingredients ahead of time. This saves so much time at the execution stage.

Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a 2014 documentary film produced and directed by Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn. The film explores the impact of animal agriculture on the environment, and investigates the policies of environmental organizations on this issue. Environmental organizations investigated in the film include Greenpeace, Sierra Club, Surfrider Foundation, Rainforest Action Network, and many more.[1][2][3][4]

The film was crowdfunded on IndieGoGo, with 1,449 contributors giving $117,092. This funding was 217% of their goal, and it allowed them to dub the film into Spanish and German and subtitle it into more than 10 other languages, including Chinese and Russian.[5][6] Screenings are licensed through the distributor as well as on Tugg.[7]

A new cut of the documentary, executive-produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, premiered globally on Netflix on September 15, 2015.[8]

Criticism[edit]

[icon]This section needs expansion. You can help by adding to it. (October 2016)

Doug Boucher, reviewing the film for the Union of Concerned Scientists, disputed the film's claim that 51% of global greenhouse gases are caused by animal agriculture. Boucher describes the 51% figure as being sourced from a 2009 Worldwatch Institute report by Robert Goodland and Jeff Anhang; not from a peer-reviewed scientific paper. He asserts methodological flaws in Goodland and Anhang's logic, and claims that the scientific community has formed a consensus that global warming is primarily caused by humanity's burning of fossil fuels.[12] Boucher claims the scientific consensus is that livestock contribute 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions - far lower than the 51% claimed by the film.[12]

This Union of Concerned Scientists review concludes by alleging that livestock does indeed contribute to global warming—albeit at a far lower rate than the film claims—and notes that the film's allegation of a scientific 'conspiracy' to suppress knowledge belies the vast amount of literature published on the topic of livestock's contribution to greenhouse emissions.[12]

Week 1: A New Start (new recipes from old books to try)

Super excited to see the Ivan Ramen book I photographed out in the stores now and available on Amazon. I had such a great time photographing this with Ivan Ramen Ivan Orkin Most of the finished dishes and technique photos in the book were shot by me (along with the cover) get yourself a copy for the holidays, only $20 its a good deal! - www.amazon.com/Ivan-Ramen-Obsession-Recipes-Unlikely/dp/1...

Decided to have a little fun with a christmas present from my fiancé's cousin. In addition to be embarrassingly funny, it actually has some pretty fantastic recipes. Bon Appétit!

All this artisticness didn't just show up one day...well maybe it did if we were born with it. For me, there was also some inspiration. Not exactly the kind you would find in a cookbook, either. When I had a good example such as my Mom, who was the most amazing cook, it was all I could do to want to learn how, too.

So one day, I asked her if she would teach me how to cook. She said she would and handed me a cookbook. As she handed me the book, she said, "Here...if you can read you can cook".

She gave me all the cookbooks in this picture...guess which one she gave me that day? And can you tell which one I have used the most over the years? It's the same one.

Most of her recipes never came from a cookbook. They came from her heart. There are no duplications. I hope my Mom has a great day today because it is her birthday :-)))

I made Mohawk Baked Beans from the “Blue Zones American Kitchen” cookbook which touts “100 Recipes to Live to 100”. I had to soak 2 lbs. of cranberry beans overnight, then simmer for 1.5 hours, then bake in a very low oven for up to 8 hours. They look nothing like the photograph, more like refried beans - mostly mushy with very few whole beans. The flavor was a bit bland, so if I make them again I’ll be looking for add-ins to make them more flavorful. I have so many left.overs, some of which will go into the freezer. 1964 cookbook from Federalsburg, Maryland

my mother died long ago, but she had a cookbook that I used from when I was a little girl until I got married.

mom and my dad probably got married in the late 30's. her cookbook was published 1942.

when I got married I got my own cookbook, a newer version of the same one.

my sister took my mother's, but last year I ran into an one like my mother's in an antique store.

now I have hers, too.

**I am slip-sliding into 2015. yesterday when I shot this, in tight quarters, I tripped on the heater cord and fell head first into the bookcase. I got a dent in my head.

today after watering and fertilizing in the greenhouse, I tripped on the hose and fell out the door and landed on the wood step. I have a big strawberry mark on my knee.

getting older and older is hell.
