Snowy Egret...Sanibel Island

Sometimes life just keeps throwing lemons your way and one must sit and think about what to do with those lemons, does one pick them up and make lemonaide or does one throw the fcking lemons back 10 times harder ?

Dad, I'm feeling blue today. My life is already half over.

"But Clancy, blue is such a lovely colour."

Everything has to be so jokey with you.

"Look, if it's any consolation, my life expectancy is two-thirds over."

But you'll probably still be around another 30 years while I'll be lucky to last another seven.

"Hey, seven is a lucky number!"

One of these days snap, right on the ankle.

"Okay, I get it. I suggest you try to stop worrying about what you can't change, and concentrate on enjoying the time you have left. It's all there is, and you shouldn't waste it."

I wasn't worried about me, I was worried about you! Who would make you feel like a whole day at work is worth it just to get the greeting I give you when you get home? Who would walk you and wrestle for a ball with you? Who would scare off the coyotes when you use the telescope? Sit beside you when you watch football? Have a bonfire?

But you know, what you said makes sense. I'm going to try and stop worrying so much about you and live the time we have left to the fullest!

Thanks, Dad, I feel better.

"You're welcome. Now move over, I'm suddenly feeling blue myself."

(This throwback was taken in 2014 when I was almost 2. It's not appropriate for the text, but it's been sitting and begging to get out of Dad's voluminous fave file all this time, and it works well in the visual sense.)

A meerkat lost in thought as it watches the sun go down @ Tierpark Sababurg

I've never seen an egret sit like this before. I wonder whether it was all right.

End of the day...don't wanna go home...don't wanna go out...sit on the beach and dream. PS. Venus is the little one below and to the left of the moon.

Dragonfly perhaps contemplating migration or death. A few species winter Colorado as nymphs from summer eggs deposited in ponds and lake shores. Most species migrate to warmer climates.

Another long break due to work commitments and the unpredictability of the British weather (its not every year that you have snow in April in the South of England after all...). Weather seemed very nice and the tides were ideal for Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset (www.visit-dorset.com/things-to-do/attractions/kimmeridge-...) so I decided to drive the 2+ hours it takes to get there. This is a very popular location and another 9 photographers were "competing" for the best rock to stand on. I have a thing for green stuff growing on rocks and the rock in the middle of the frame automatically attracted my eye. Beautiful golden light, nice blue water but not enough cloud for my liking. I was expecting a nicer sunset but had to compromise. After so many years with my D300s I am still getting used to D810 but I have to say I am very impressed with the sharpness of the images.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my image

Contemplating in the peacefulness of nature

The Roosevelt Elk of our California coastal redwoods, from the car blind -- I guess we know what HE'S thinking.

This was the encounter that almost cemented my use and addiction to prime lenses. Besides the 600, I also used a 100-400. On the spot, I switched over to the prime and it was like night and day. I say almost, because a season later I used that 100-400 again on my wild horses. What a dope. I got rid of it shortly after. Coulda been that particular lens - I even sent it in for service $500 later no help.
