I received a phone call yesterday, requesting me to provide a résumé for the position I'm wanting in Atlanta. It sounds like several people at work are interested in the positions in Overland Park and Atlanta. Not surprising, really. I think you'd have to be nuts to prefer to get laid off in this economy, when your employer is offering you the opportunity to stay with the company.
Polishing up my résumé last night reminded me of just how much I *hate* having to look for a job. So, since I *am* debt-free, I drew up a plan. An escape plan. It will apply whether I get the job in Atlanta or not. It's purpose is to provide me with an action plan to get my ass out of telecom—permanently. I see it as absolutely do-able, too. Being debt-free, for me, is the key. I can now, if I have to (or if I want to), take a job doing just about anything, as long as I can make enough to meet the few expenses that I do have.
And drying out my feet.
Having been turned back from Zebra Slot by unexpected high water, I contemplate a "revenge hike" for next year.
Also on my Revenge Hike list is Neon Canyon due to high water and Lick Wash due to rain.

Not because she couldn't, but because she had thought, and found that some things had a better time and place. The time now was not hers, nor was the place.
Atop the windswept cliff, the land falls away into the blue infinity of the sea. Here, the journey culminates in a moment of reflection as the world opens up, vast and boundless. This photograph captures the essence of such a moment, where human presence is dwarfed by the grandeur of the natural world. I thought the image would look better if there was actually wine in the glass, but all the attempts after I filled it and fiddled with the lighting (turning off the lamp and using a candle) just didn't work well, so here you have me contemplating my empty glass... I was sitting next to an incandescent lamp and just couldn't get the white balance correct in PS, so went with black and white processing. It's interesting how the iPad on the counter behind me is fully refracted in my eyeglass lens.
The only lighting in the room was a single candle; ISO 12,800 was unheard of until very recently - this camera can see in the dark !
Sometimes in this 365 project you just gotta go with what you have...
Across the street from the playground where my niece's birthday was was another playground. This one had the solar system mapped out with these globes. Earth was the only one that was done with color, although Saturn did have a ring around it. During the summer it is apparently a water park type playground. Savanah has already made me promise to bring her back.
