Bit of a pun that, as Appomattox is his name. Apple looking a little uncomfortable wearing a present from Papaw and Mawma! For those who don't know, Appomattox is the place where Lee surrendered to Grant, thus ending the American Civil War.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art has mounted an extraordinary retrospective of Paul Strand's work. The curators have filled gallery after gallery with his haunting portraits of people and places, the images almost all of modest or even very small size, formats that require close inspection and foster a wonderful feeling of intimacy for the viewing. Also included are 3 of his short films, startling and personal.
The exhibit moves to Europe in January and, apparently, does not return to the U.S.
See it if you can.

Red-tailed Hawk. (Immature Cooper's Hawk?) * A group of hawks has many collective nouns, including a "boil", "knot", "spiraling", "stream", and "tower" of hawks. * Males and females perform a courtship ritual in which they dive and roll in the sky. They will even lock talons and fall together a distance before splitting apart. * The raspy cry of the Red-tailed Hawk is typically used in movies to represent any eagle or hawk anywhere in the world. * They can spot a mouse from a height of 100 feet.
