Day 229. Ugh. I've clean run out of ideas today and hit the wall. So I sat looking at the wall..... and hoping I might have some more inspiration tomorrow.

A moments quiet reflection in Birmingham City Library.

a la 50’s vintage which includes me. The pot holders were sewn by me in 1970 or so. The charming holiday cookbooks are from my husband’s maternal grandmother. Note the 1955 boozy drink book - cheers to Dave! The others are from 52 and 54.

Despite having been served tea in bed, Sally looks stern as she contemplates the view on our awakening on our first morning on the ‘Indian Pacific’. What a view! Nullarbor Plain, WA/SA

Built 100 years ago in 1916, The Gandier Church, Keldon Ontario is starting to show signs of extreme failure. This congregation of a pioneer community formerly Presbyterian latterly United Church, closed some years and moved to nearby Monticello. Left to ruin the building showing its age and the effects of the extreme weather in these parts.

Simplicity doesn't mean no wonderfulness. Nature is an example of how much a creature doing nothing but looking at the sea could be wonderful at same time.

Carte de visite by Washington L. Germon of Philadelphia, Pa. The Union infantryman who stands here adopts a pose fairly common to Civil War portraiture. The backdrop, by contrast features an item not typically seen—a statue of a woman who strikes a thoughtful pose with a finger placed on her chin. Around her left wrist is a flowered wreath. Is she contemplating victory, peace, war, love—or something else?

The soldier’s cap offer clues to his identity. On the flat top is a trefoil symbol that indicates his regiment belonged to the Union army’s II Corps. In the middle of the infantry horn is his regimental number, 71. Both the 71st Pennsylvania and the 71st New York infantries fought in this corps.
