This visitor came with his wife, son and daughter to see the falls. The teenagers continued up and over the falls. The parents waited below and missed seeing the beauty yet to come.

Definitely a lot of clutter in this shot, but that's the way it is. No chance to contemplate anything tonight. By the time I got out, the sun was getting really low, and by the time I decided what to shoot, it was just about to dive into a cloud bank on it's way to setting.
I was standing on the levee on a little path that goes up to the dam. Heard a train blowing coming into town, the sun peeked out for a minute, and I thought, okay, here's your one chance for tonight.
Well, at least you can see how that magnificent high school has presided over the scene for 91 years. A constant presence. I love things that last and are deep with history!
The supports you see in the foreground are what's left of the Market Street Bridge. They closed it for rebuilding earlier this year, but high water has kept them from getting much work done in all these months.
I'm about to nod off sitting here at the computer. Will have to do some catching up tomorrow night. Good night, Mr. Calabash, wherever you are. ; ) Hope I meet you someday. Here is your lullaby.

Despite having been served tea in bed, Sally looks stern as she contemplates the view on our awakening on our first morning on the ‘Indian Pacific’. What a view! Nullarbor Plain, WA/SA
This is my ghost contribution to Halloween. I swear I was sitting on that chair (which I own and love) but I got up after 4 seconds while the exposure was for 8. I moved fast enough so the cam would not record the movement. (this is for those who questioned whether I actually was sitting down).

O que ele estaria contemplando tanto que deixaria a carteira na calçada em pleno Rio de Janeiro?
So lost in contemplation that he even left his wallet on the sidewalk. In Rio.
That was strange! According to Xplore stats (a Flickr Add-On) the photo above got an Explore and then didn't!
At least Ingrid Eulanfan saw it and sent her congratulations! (see below).
A bit like being told you've won the lottery (well a tiny bit) and then being told it was just an admin error.
Something to think about - as is the fact that the title hasn't changed since I first posted the image!
A man overlooks the white cliffs of Beachy Head, Sussex. Meanwhile, birds fly by as the sun tries to break through the clouds.
This composition materialised in front of me pretty quickly and disappeared as quickly as it came. It has a few components that I'm always a fan of - sun rays, birds and distant silhouettes. Far from being a slamdunk, however, I mucked around for ages deciding whether the gloomy day had provided enough in the way of colour saturation. Part of me was really attached to the idea of making a colour version work and while I think I got most of the way there, it seems that my gut instinct - that this one would lend itself best to b&w - prevailed.
