Getting to the terminal early also meant that I had plenty of time to start taking pictures of the immense container cranes that surrounded us.

 

The Port of Los Angeles is the busiest in the United States. It is also huge, situated on 7500 acres over 43 miles of waterfront with 27 cargo terminals.

An A-Ward 30T Container Inverter is being used to invert 20ft & 40ft ISO Shipping Containers so that they can be loaded with scrap, then taken by Patrick to the Port of Melbourne, where they are shipped to China, where the container and it's contents are put through a massive shredder, then fed into the furnace.

These violas are left over from last fall - they just popped back up again, and I didn't have the heart to pull them out. So, I planted a fiber optic grass in the middle. (I read that fiber optic grass prefers wet soil, and this old pot has terrible drainage.)
