For the past few years about half my garden has grown in containers to maximize the space available. This year the barrels and pots on the sunny side of the house contain basil, a tomato "Cosmonaut Volkov", volunteer leaf lettuce, pineapple sage, cayenne peppers, rose geranium, chocolate mint geranium, tarragon, garden sage, oregano, lemon verbena, lemon grass, and rosemary.

Containers my wife purchased for us to take water to work.

May 23rd. Busy weekend! Removed, improved & replaced the soil in 3 big pots and planted them with my little seedlings. Right now they're looking more "messy" than "lush" but hopefully in a few weeks things will improve. Meanwhile, just one more big container to do, and then left-over plants into 2 window boxes and the heavy lifting should be done. Herb Pot (center): Chamomile, Agastache, Oregano, Thyme, Chives, Lavender. Other Two Pots (L&R): Lobelia, Dwarf Morning Glory, Marigolds, Garlic Chives, Thyme, Alyssum, Misourri Primrose. "Heavenly Blue" Morning Glory in the background (growing out of two small pots wedged in between and behind the larger ones)

For the All New Scavenger Hunt #20 - Containers.

I seem to have acquired over the years a number of decorative little containers. They are clearly more decorative than utilitarian, but I like them.

I converted a container from a juice box. My family drinks alot of juice. I hate to see these items to into the garbage. I cut sections in the box for my bills - to organize by bills by payday (there was even room to put a few pens!). Our family gets paid 3 times a month (commission based). I put labels (blue paper) with the date. This way I know which dates I will pay which bills.

Reach Stacker

Four Containers arrived at location and preparation to un-stuff began. Oversized loads were inspected for damage in transit, a pre-determined lifting plan actioned. Steel.Steel beams were stacked on top of the cargo which meant that manual labor was needed to un-stuff each container prior to using the MHE.

Once the steel had been removed manually, pallet trucks and fork lifts made easy work of un-stuffing the containers and placing the cargoes in the designated unpacking area.

Each container presented a different challenge regarding the safest way to un-stuff the cargo to prevent any damage. Eight meter steel beams had to be manually un-stacked before the telehandler could reach into the containers and pull the individual pieces out.

CEA provided all plastic sheeting and tarpaulins made at our plastic production facilities in Laem Chabang, these would protect the new ground surface from heavy equipment damage whilst the operation was underway.

The oversized cargo was lifted out of the containers through the use of a Reach Stacker.

Each of the four containers presented their own individual difficulties for manual and mechanical un-stuffing, the CEA team improvised and adapted well to overcome each hurdle much to the delight of the client.

I mounted two fiberglass ladders to the side of our tool shed. It's nice to get them off the ground and out of the way. Drilling through the shipping container wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but making enough room on the other side to tighten the nuts was no easy task. I should have used rivets.

On the same railing: "Storage Containers for Rent" and "1 Bed Flat to Let." If you look closely, the "1" used to be a "2". My theory: the flat's made out of containers. They rented out a container - one less bedroom. Look around the flat before you put your money down.

Hong Kong Transport - Trucks

The Hong Kong Truck Culture

The number of Trucks, Vans* and Special Purpose Vehicles (Light, Medium & Heavy) registered + licenced in Hong Kong seems to fluctuate between 120,000 - 125,000 vehicles and presumably new trucks registered are offset by old trucks being retired or sold over the border in China.

*Vans are classified as Light Goods Vehicles and are not shown in this album

In Hong Kong Trucks are classified as GOODS VEHICLES By the Transport Department - see below

☛Light Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight not exceeding 5.5 tonnes.

☛Medium Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 5.5 tonnes but not exceeding 24 tonnes.

☛Heavy Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 24 tonnes but not exceeding 38 tonnes.

The major truck types you tend to see in urban areas are trucks carrying construction materials or waste, dump trucks, concrete mixers and all sizes of delivery trucks... outside of the urban areas it is container trucks and large trucks carrying construction materials.

The following brands of Trucks can be seen on the streets of Hong Kong and include:-

Beiben ✚ Bell ✚ CAMC ✚ CNHTC ✚ DAF ✚ Dennis ✚ Dong Feng ✚ FAW ✚ Fuso ✚ Foton ✚ Ford ✚ Hino ✚ Howo ✚ Hyundai ✚ Isuzu ✚ Iveco ✚ JAC ✚ Kato ✚ KIA ✚ Liebherr ✚ MAN ✚ Mercedes Benz ✚ Mitsubishi ✚ Nissan ✚ Renault ✚ Scania ✚ Shacman ✚ Sinotruk ✚ Suzuki ✚ Toyota ✚ UD ✚ Volvo ✚ Zoomlion

Hong Kong is a brand conscious place even for trucks (!) hence the popularity of the European brands, Scania and Man are very popular and even the older trucks look the business and they are utterly reliable.

Isuzu is the market leader in terms of sale volume for all types of trucks.
