Container arrives from CA, USA

EMD SD70M UP 5185 leads a southbound train of empty containers on a dreary winter day after crossing the Willamette River near Harrisburg, Oregon.

This yummy leftover spaghetti is stored in an air-tight container. It was put in the refrigerator shortly after the rest of the meal was prepared and eaten. To make sure the food does not spoil, the leftovers should be eaten within 3-4 days. Leftover spaghetti makes a delicious and quick lunch or an easy dinner!

The delivery guy said he thought the flooring was 3/4-inch plywood screwed into metal cross members. ( I peeked underneath.) It's actually 1 1/8-inch mahogany plywood.

Container for making Collyrium and storing Vermillion.

This cast bronze container has three discs with shallow cavities for storing collyrium and vermillion. The discs are attached to a revette and are opened for use by sliding away one from another.

The top disc is held over the flame of an oil-lamp to collect soot in its cavity which is later turned into Collyrium by mixing ghee, camphor etc.

Provenance, Treasures of Wisdoms private collection.

Comments most welcome.

From the RAIB Report 090527_R122009_Containers

'The first incident occurred at around 02:24 hrs, when two empty containers were blown off freight train 4E90, while it was travelling on the down fast line of the West Coast Main Line (WCML) at Cheddington, near Leighton Buzzard. The train consisted of a Class 56 locomotive hauling 20 FEA-B type flat wagons and was running at approximately 75 mph (121 km/h). The detached containers blocked the running lines and caused damage to overhead line equipment (OLE) and the track.'

This tea container was made for Hangzhou tea. It is decorated with images of West Lake. It does not say what type of tea was in it, but I assume it was Dragon Well Tea.
