The container terminal CTT was opened in 1977 as the second container terminal after the container terminal Burchardkai, which had been growing since 1968, in the former port of Neuhof. The Port of Hamburg and Logistics (HHLA) took over the operation of the CTT in 1996. For expansion, the volcano port was filled between 1999 and 2003, so that the new terminal is now partly over the buried bunkers of the Second World War. As a result, two more berths could be set up for more in-depth ships. In 2008, a new freight yard was opened, which quintupled the capacity of the terminal.
Eröffnet wurde der Containerterminal CTT 1977 als zweites Containerterminal nach dem seit 1968 gewachsenen Containerterminal Burchardkai im damaligen Hafen Neuhof. Die Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) übernahm den Betrieb des CTT im Jahr 1996. Zur Erweiterung wurde zwischen 1999 und 2003 der Vulkanhafen zugeschüttet, so dass der neue Terminal heute teilweise über den verschütteten U-Boot-Bunkern des Zweiten Weltkriegs steht. In der Folge konnten zwei weitere Liegeplätze für tiefergehende Schiffe eingerichtet werden. 2008 wurde ein neuer Güterbahnhof eröffnet, der die Kapazität des Terminals verfünffachte.

Op dinsdag 13 Juni werd er de drukke "Ost-West Strecke" bezocht. Na het zien van veel leuke meldingen werd er toch maar eens besloten om deze lijn met goed weer te bezoeken.
De weervoorspelling bleek toch wel mee te vallen na aankomst, want er hingen veel sluiers voor de zon met opkomst... Toch hielden we hoop dat de wolken weg zouden gaan, en dat gebeurde dan ook rond een uur of 7.
Na bij de ochtendstek niet veel gezien te hebben naast VPS, werd er naar de tweede stek verplaatst. Het duurde hier ongeveer zo'n 10 minuten voor de eerste 2 treinen. Deze twee betroffen beide Metrans. Na Metrans werd het sein al snel weer veilig. Het zou nog 25 minuten duren tot de volgende raampjestrein zou passeren, dus werd er weer positie ingenomen.
Zo'n 5 minuten later is het raak, Deltarail 234 559 komt langs de 3 fotografen als trein 68798 uit Neuss Gbf, via Frankfurt (O) en Małaszewicze naar China.

Na even in Kaarst (D) te zijn geweest,werd er toch maar besloten om naar Wegberg (D) te rijden voor 'n eventuele overbreningsrit vanuit Krefeld-Uerdingen. (D). Meestal passeren ze in Wegberg (D) tussen 12u/13u30. Het is 13u als we plotseling de trein aan zien komen. Vlug de ladder op,helmgras staat overal vrij hoog, Hier moet hij even wachten totdat de overwegbomen naar beneden gaan. Vanuit Krefeld-Uerdingen (D) en naar het Siemens -Test Centrum in Klinkum (D) passeert hier PCW 248 996 ( stern hoffler verkehr) > AT > met achter loc 2 Containers koppel/remwagen gevolgd door ICE 3 NEO rijtuigen 5408 619 en 5408 519 (3018) en achteraan nog 3 container s koppel/remwagens. Nadat de overweg is gepasseeert bereikt hij over enkele ogenblikken het SIEMENS PCW Test Centrum.

A tour in the port of Antwerp lead me to photograph a few container trains towards the Krommenhoek and Kalishoek yards. A very interesting one was this one from Railtraxx, with containers from - I presume - Athus and with destination Kalishoek. Railtraxx was renting "goldie" 266 117 at the time, which I was happy to catch when it was rounding one of the final turns before arriving at its destination.
