I found this place to be very interesting. There are excellent views of the Port of Felixstowe, which by tonnage is the busiest port in Britain. The berth in this photograph can hold the biggest ships in the world, and it is possible to view them at close quarters. As they enter or leave the port they sail within a hundred yards of Landguard. The white tower is the beacon which guides ships in and out. Lighthouses are almost redundant now, in the age of electronic satellite navigation.

MSC Vega has a deadweight of almost 150,000 tons. She left Felixstowe on the following day, and on 30th September she was anchored off Port Said in Egypt, presumably waiting to enter the Suez Canal. As one ship leaves this berth another enters almost immediately. These mega ships hop around the big container ports of the world, without it ever being apparent exactly what they carry. The AIS website describes MSC Vega's cargo as Hazard A (Major).

As well as the giant container ships, there is a lot of other traffic entering Harwich, Ipswich and Felixstowe to be seen at Landguard. You can also catch a foot ferry to Harwich from here.

In June of 2019, my wife and I traveled to Maryland to visit family. Oh this Thursday evening I took a walk around the property and passed these Pennzoil containers.

Went by the container kichen along Aoyama Dori for some karaage. If you do swing by, basil flavored and yuzu flavored karaage are pretty yummy.
