Radio frequency testing has begun on the first Orion spacecraft that will fly around the Moon for the Artemis 1 mission, just two weeks after thermal and environmental tests were completed at NASA’s Plum Brook Station in Ohio, USA.
Electromagnetic compatibility or EMC testing is routine for spacecraft. All electronics emit some form of electromagnetic waves that can cause interference with other devices. Think of the buzz that speakers give out right before an incoming call on a mobile phone.
Spacecraft electronics can cause similar interference, but out in space such interference can have disastrous consequences, so all systems must be checked before launch.
EMC tests often take place in a special shielded room constructed of metal walls and doors and foamy spikes (aka absorbers) that block out unwanted external electromagnetic radiation, like ESA’s Maxwell chamber at its technical site in the Netherlands.
Though not an EMC chamber, Plum Brook’s thermal vacuum chamber is made of aluminium that does provide electromagnetic shielding, making it a suitable substitute.
To test electronics, the spacecraft will simulate a flight in realistic conditions with most of its subsystems and equipment powered and in operational mode.
The electronics are first tested for compatibility in this electromagnetic shielded chamber. Equipment will be switched on to test whether they do potentially disturb one another.
In the second round of tests, electromagnetic fields will be applied using antennas around the spacecraft to test the susceptibility to interference from external sources. The Orion capsule is equipped with electromagnetic field sensors to take measurements as the disturbance frequencies are injected into the chamber.
While all subsystems are a potential source of radio frequency noise, of particular interest are the transmitters that intentionally generate radio frequencies. These can easily disturb other equipment sensitive to electromagnetic noise, like GPS receivers, tele-command modules and other communication elements.
ESA experts are on site monitoring all tests alongside NASA colleagues as Orion moves closer to its first flight without a crew around the Moon.

Flash Placement: I use an adjustable ball head attached to either a modified fishing bank pole or a heavy duty (A) clip. As most tracks are lined with posts or trees its a quick and light weight option. The Flash was placed on the inside of the corner around 3M from the subject.

Goal: My photographs are all taken during full race conditions, so I have to respect the riders and the job they are doing. So I try to keep the setup low key and only use low diffused light to fill in facial area.

Cosmetically, it's in good and clean condition with the normal brassing at corners. No dents or dings that I can see. Viewfinder very clean & clear.
Mechanically, all functions work as they should, except for the hotshoe which won't fire an external flash mounted on it. When flash is connected via the flash sync ports using a PC cord, flash DOES fire.
All shutter speeds sound correct and film transport working. Meter is correct. Match needle readout in viewfinder correct and working as it should. Judas window showing selected aperture is working but not very clear.
What you get: Body only with strap lugs, strap shown in photos is NOT included, no body cap but mirror box & lens mount will be protected fully during shipment/delivery/COD.
Warranty: Although this camera is fully functioning and have just had a CLA, there is no warranty expressed or implied by me. You can test the camera prior to COD.

There was a production Land Rover Defender fitted with BMW's 2.8 litre M52 engine but this was a South African-spec car, It did not reach global production, but it was an official Land Rover model all the same.
The Defender bodies were shipped down south to Mzansi in CKD form, while the development of the M52 for Land Rover use was done by BMW with the assistance of Land Rover headquarters at Solihull. This was around the time BMW owned Land Rover.
ENGINE UPGRADE
There is a small BMW sports car called the M2 — a romping, stomping red-blooded, diminutive, rear drive BMW M Power track star that would be totally irrelevant to this conversation had it been its top engineer didn't drive something called the "Red Mamba": a bright red Land Rover Defender 110 with a black grille, two spot lamps in the centre of that grille, grey "Defender" decals running along the side, alloy rims, a roof rack, a snorkel and of course the piece de resistance: BMW's 2.8 litre M52 straight six engine.
This man, Herr Frank Isenberg, sheds more light on how this particular Land Rover came to exist:
"It was in the 90s when Land Rover was part of the BMW Group and I was working for BMW in South Africa. On a Friday afternoon, walking through the workshop, my boss introduced a Defender 110 with a 3.5 Rover V8 to me.
"Looking at the carburettors, he said that many people in South Africa complain about the high fuel consumption, but otherwise it would be a great vehicle. For me as a chassis man, it was difficult to accept a truck with solid beam axles and a not-that-impressive engine in our BMW Test Centre. But after having a closer look, I started to fall for this Landy's character.
"On the hoist next to her was a BMW 325i waiting for an engine upgrade. The new BMW M52 2.8i engine had already arrived, waiting to be fitted and tested for the local South African conditions.
"We grabbed a tape measure, checked the M52 engine and the Defender's engine bay, and on Monday night this brand new 194hp engine was hanging on a rope, now in the Defender's front end."[Source: RoadAndTrack.com]
COMPATIBILITY
There is a lot more that Herr Isenberg said, but in a nutshell, it took a bit of work to sort out the electrics and a lot of components had to be changed, but eventually the car ran with a smoothness and performance not even the engineers behind the top-secret project expected (the engagement between Solihull and Munich was kept on the hush-hush and nobody had any idea what exactly these chaps in the RSA were up to).
To get approval, these engineers had to create the "Green Mamba", a green soft-top Defender 90 for durability testing which partly involved a very noisy 170km/h blast.
Total production amounted to about 1,000 cars or slightly more in two body styles, exclusive to the RSA.
Years later, Isenberg was to encounter a red M52-powered 110 5-door with 120,000km on the odo in Gum tree South Africa, which he promptly relieved its owner of.
So, yes, the M52 can go into the Landy, but Isenberg mentions a bit of extra work to ensure compatibility.

I bought this dress as an experiment to try on Saturday. As you can see, it doesn't zip up all the way, but it actually fits nicely otherwise! And luckily, the cardigan covers it to where you can't see the zipper anyways. Its a nice outfit and very well made, I may try some of the stretchier outfits to see how they fit her next!
