Turbostar 170207 calls at Beccles with the 15.08 form Lowestoft to Ipswich

A class 25 heads a train of empty engineering ballast wagons at Claydon.

Unfortunately I have no further details for this image taken by my late father Douglas Tomes.

OBB Class 1116 "Taurus" 15 k v ac/25 k v ac, 8,575 hp Bo-Bo No.9180 6182 523-1 in a livery commemorating Austrian Emperor Franz Yosef at Leipzig Hbf., 12 October 2021. 400 Class 1016 & 1116 were built by Siemens, an Austrian version of the DB Class 182. Similar locos are in use in Hungary, Poland and Slovenia.

Note the narrow platform 2 at Colchester. I've always said that this platform is particularly dangerous especially with fast down through trains.

Suburban slam door train arriving from Watford. This picture was taken in the last few weeks of operation of the class 501 stock, which was introduced in 1956/7 and used on all services on the Euston-Watford and Broad Street-Richmond routes.

Westbury September 2009 probably the last time driving a class 37 having learnt these locos as my basic traction in 1988 22 years ago! Try a pair of these on a vacuum braked ballast train with instanter couplings, a skill a lot harder than 5 air braked coaches and slack timings.

Seen crossing over Beal Lane and approaching this platform...it would then terminate here rather than continuing to Rochdale! :(

Leyland Class 153 diesel railcar No.153 335 in new East Midlands Trains livery (recently ex-Arriva Trains Wales), with 153 383, at Matlock on a service from Derby, 04/08.

Concurso Pirotecnico Donostia - San Sebastian 2012

English Electric Type 3 Class 37 diesel locomotive 37405 as operated by Direct Rail Services top and tailed with 37425 working the Abellio Greater Anglia Great Yarmouth- Norwich summer drags short set at Norwich Station at the end of the Great Eastern Main Line in Norfolk (UK).

 

An extremely rare example of a classic first generation diesel locomotive hauled service train. Great stuff!

 

37405 was built at The English Electric Vulcan Foundry in Newton le Willows and entered service as D6982 on May 13th 1965.

Electro-Motive Diesel Inc. Type JT42CWR Freightliner Class 66 diesel electric locomotive 66524 trundles northbound through York Station in North Yorkshire (UK) with a rake of Network Rail hoppers.

 

Note the Victorian canopy. The station was designed by architects Thomas Prosser and William Peachey and was opened in 1877.
