One of the newest Disney cruise ships, The Disney Dream, moored next to us as we waited to sail away from Port Canaveral last April.
On my way home from West Virginia, I stopped at Hocking Hills in southeast Ohio to check out some of the waterfalls over there. I was down this way just a few weeks earlier and to my dismay found most of the waterfalls were reduced to mere trickles, except Cedar Falls which actually looks much nicer without much water. Just the opposite was true on this visit....all waterfalls were at springtime levels. Cedar Falls was just a washed out mess of raging water that I didn't even bother taking the time to shoot. There were around 20 or 30 people standing in awe in front of it anyway, so just as well. But just a few yards away, I had the beautiful Hidden Falls all to myself.

The Olbrich Botanical Gardens serves as an oasis from the urban setting of Wisconsin's capitol city Madison or "Madtown."
In the far reaches of the gardens is the Thai Pavilion. Its serene setting gave me the opportunity for deep contemplation and at the same time recharge my creative inclinations.
This photograph is not HDR. This is a product of using my Singh-Ray graduated neutral density filter (I don't use it as much as I have had in the past, although I should since it cost me a pretty penny). That was stacked along with my Hoya circular polarizer to achieve this result. I'm dropping some big camera gear names to give the impression that I'm a professional photographer, which I'm not, only a weekend photography warrior.
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to visiting your photostreams soon!
Happy Travels!

This was the last shot I took before catching the plane home. After four trips to Hawaii, I can honestly say there's no place I'd rather be. With a baby on the way, we won't be able to make it back for quite some time, but we'll be thinking about it until then. At least we have pictures to remind us... :)
☀️ daisies🌼🌼.
for several nights i sat outside on the patio and watched the sunset paint a magical glow on this group of daisies down by village lake in pagosa springs colorado. the conditions would have to be perfect in order to capture what i was imagining. the clouds would have to be high and not low, the wind – oh yes, the wind would have to be still and silent, the geese would have to be grazing in another area and on wednesday night.. all was perfect.

Still not had chance to capture anything new recently, so currently keeping my interest piqued by messing around with attempts to create Tilt Shift effects on images already on my laptop. Hope to get out at some point in the next week to get something new.
one way to explore the beautiful city is to hop on one of the water taxis that ply the Chicago River and see the grand views in a different point of view...the night boat tours are especially cool when you're looking up to the bright city lights of the towering skyscrapers as the boat slowly meanders thru the river...i shot this frame just after the river was dyed bright green during St. Patty's Day celebration last March...pls. The Fujinon XF 16-55mm F2.8 LM WR is the premium standard zoom for the Fuji X system. It has a full frame focal length equivalent of 24-84mm, meaning that it can cover everything from landscape to portraits (as you can see in this gallery). While not a perfect lens, it does most everything very well, and the images I was able to get with it really pleased me. My review coverage can be seen here:

Another view of the 1858 Point Betsie Lighthouse and restored keeper's residence from the adjacent sand dune. The lighthouse has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. Following a significant restoration, it is open for tours and part of the residence can be rented for overnight stays during the summer months.
Shot Saturday. The sky was darkened with a circular polarizer.
From Wikipedia:
In November, 2006, a commissioned fountain with a nautically-themed sculpture titled "Coming About" was unveiled at the entrance to Main Street. About half of the $500,000 cost of the sculpture was donated by the Zelinsky family, longtime owners of many commercial properties in Tiburon. The sculpture was designed by Jennifer Madden.
SANTA ELENA CANYON
We pulled up to the Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park only to see cars parked at least a half mile back on the side of the road, in an undesignated parking area. We went into this adventure wanting to respect nature as much as possible, to leave it better than we found it – so parking in this area was not an option for us. I told Gwenn to go to the front… I knew if the canyon wanted us to photograph her and see her majestic beauty – we would find a proper parking spot… and she did… and I’m grateful.
It was afternoon when we arrived at the canyon. We had planned for morning, but got sidetracked with other alluring landscapes. We walked down to the riverbank and were in awe of the beauty before us… so majestic, grand, unique – sublime… unlike anything I’ve seen before. I took time to look around, take it in, breathe – and search for the perfect ‘spot’ to capture the essence of the location – the Santa Elena Canyon.
As I sat on the bank of the Rio Grande and observed people trying to cross barefoot, I was glad I brought my rain boots. I waded across to a dry area, where a family was enjoying the view, or in my case the ‘spot.’ I kindly asked to borrow their amazing view to photograph the artistry before us. They obliged.
To add some perspective, if you look about 1/3 of the way up, on the right side of the canyon, you can see people standing on the ledge of the overview. Enjoy!

Blue Ridges, captured at the North Carolina Arboretum with my Sony A7s II, Rokinon 14mm T3.1 Cine lens and a WonderPana CPL filter.
captured this beautiful sunset in Lake McCullom yesterday...loved how the fading sunset glow in the horizon looked with the creeping blue hour and those awesome looking clouds...
so last night, i went over to the South Loop area expecting to see some sort of tribute to Veteran's Day displayed in some of the buildings and found the Blue Cross Blue Shield building having the words We Hire Vets displayed on it's facade...i wanted to get a different pov so i waited for one of the buses to roll thru and just placed my camera on the curbside for a low long exposure shot...pls.
