This must be one of the most photographed boats in the UK not because it itself is photogenic but because the scenery that surrounds it sure is!

A macro view of a small plastic desk organizer backlit with polarized light. The frame represents a span of approximately three-inches across.

A pretty long exposure of Portland Bill lighthouse in Dorset. I was hoping for way more colour but after a gloriously warm day the storm clouds rolled in right after I set up. I managed to get this shot just before the clouds obscured the little light I had and the rain started.
As I set off another long exposure, the clouds above formed into what I can only describe as a supercell. I've never seen anything like it. I tried to quit my long exposure so that I could grab a shot before it passed over me but my SD card took so long to save the previous image the cloud had blown away. Can't tell you how annoyed I was!
Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and that if you were in the UK you were able to be out and enjoy the mini heatwave we had :)
P.S
Can anyone spot the fisherman?!

No, that Crow is not photoshopped. He just happened to be there at that moment which was all a bit eerie.
all that waiting finally gets paid off when the sun hits that point in the horizon when it's almost gone and the colors in the sky and the water just turn extra special....i will never get tired of this, i don't think.....EXPLORED 04/30/2010 #368......pls. View On Black
Another view of the snow-capped mountain, Ben Venue reflected in the frozen, still waters of Loch Achray in the Trossachs region of Scotland. The church on the right of the frame is the Trossachs Church.
A group of us spent the last sunset of an awesome New Zealand South Island adventure pier-hopping and chasing the light until we ended up in front of some wonderful melted wood at the tranquil Lake Wakatipu (just down the road from Queenstown).
The tranquility was soon after turned on its head by one of our number jumping into the water to light paint the pier and spell some choice words, but that's another story.
The Kaibab Trail begins its studied, winding descent from the South Rim to the inner benches and finally into the depths of the basement rock of the Inner Gorge, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.
Down at the bottom of the Canyon, the Trail reaches Phantom Ranch and the Bright Angel campground, and the Park Service has elected to provision these outposts and remove their trash via the only feasible means of transport that doesn’t destroy the peace and quiet - mules. As such, there are sections of the Kaibab Trail that waft something of mule latrine, but it is also true that watching a train of mules sweat to emerge from the Canyon’s bowels is something of a wonder. It strikes me that the art of packing and balancing a load onto mules, and then tying it down properly for a journey is something of a niche skillset these days, and I imagine that for those thus specially trained, obtaining this job at the Park Service and arriving at work in the Canyon every day must be nothing short of miraculous.
Happy Monday all.
I took this on Saturday night and before you say anything, I know there's an unsightly mass of scaffolding ruining my shot!
But I hope you can see past that and agree with me that there was some pretty beautiful light that evening in Brum.
I messed around with a few compositions but settled for this one even if it is a little messy. I like the reflections and the way the setting sun makes the buildings glow along with that cheeky cloud that was supposed to be moving towards me not drifting away ;)

This small forest near my home has become an important place for me, not just for photography but for general wandering around (though some of my favourite photos have been captured there as well). It lies near busier areas but as an unwelcoming place for most people, some tranquility can be found there any time.
I have circled around the above fallen tree many times but this was the first time I made a decent photo of it. Some raindrops and soft evening light added to the mood.
it is quite nice just to laze around the planetarium and people watch and watch all the sailbouts in Lake Michigan while waiting for sunset's magic hour.....lately, we have been getting some marvelous cloud formations and great sky colors that come with the storm fronts from the lake....just have to be patient enough to wait for that right time and moment to make the captures that you think tugs at you.....have a great night my friends...pls. The pagoda seems to be dwarfed by the trees and flowers from this perspective. Here's another perspective I took a year ago with my old camera.
Really loved that place and I could've stayed there for days (if I were alone) planting my tripod, stopper and GNDs... but instead it was rather fast... because the others were waiting... and I only could use a CPL but I must say I am quite satisfied with the outcome. Well, let's admit that with a place like this, it is already a good start ;-)

Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky

Stitched panorama with blended exposures. 16 pictures in two rows for the foreground at f8.0 1/6 sec ISO 100 and 16 pictures in two rows for the sky at f8.0 1/30 sec ISO 100. Each panorama was stitched together in Lightroom and then both were stacked and aligned in Photoshop. LAB curve manipulation to bring out the colors in each exposure and then masking to blend the two exposures together.

The peak of Utegardsnipa affords a spectacular view of the Sørfjorden and its surrounding mountains near the town of Bruvik, Norway.
The family ate snacks atop the broad summit and attempted hand stands and backflips (to be clear, only the oldest son attempted a flip) while breathing in the open space and solitude. Far down the slope, we noticed a man making his way determinedly up the ridgeline at a relatively good pace. When he stopped to chat after reaching us, we learned he is a local, and he informed us that the island visible here was called the Alcatraz of Norway not long ago. Although it is currently owned by a trust that is attempting to develop it into a tourist destination, very recently it was owned and operated by the Norwegian prison system. The grounds served as a place where offenders completed the last portion of their sentences before re-integrating into society. There was little security on the island and people could move around out-of-doors. Apparently several people did swim the short distance to land and escape, but from an American perspective, escape attempts were surprisingly infrequent.
The color version of the previous one. I am actually not sure which one is best. The blue and green tones are quite nice. Have a nice Monday!
i was glad i went on this day for a photowalk and captured the tulips before they all withered away...they are a great way to soften up an image of towering stuctures of steel and glass...hope it works...pls. View On Black
