Kodak PixPro AZ522, Opteka circular polarizer (thank goodness for the 52mm filter threads! I think it really made a difference for the sky and water shots)
There all the borders, trimmed with box,
were filled with favourite flowers, with phlox,
with lupins, pinks, and hollyhocks,
beneath a red may-tree;
and all the gardens full of folk
that their own little language spoke,
but not to You and Me.

As this plaque reports, the Agricultural College of Michigan was founded in 1855 as the first land-grant college in the United States. It became a model for the Morrill Act (1862) that led to the founding of state universities across the country. Following several name changes on the agriculture theme, the East Lansing school finally became Michigan State University in 1964.

The Erie Club, incorporated in 1882, advertises itself as "the finest private social club in northwest Pennsylvania." Located in the Charles Manning Reed Mansion (built 1846-1848 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982), the club has a dress code requiring business casual for lunch and ties (or turtlenecks) for dinner. Denim, t-shirts, sweats, and flip-flops are forbidden at all times.

If you're ever in Crossville, TN, you have to stop by this place. It's the "Minister's Treehouse," and it's at the end of Beehive Lane. There aren't any signs leading to it, but if you follow Google Maps, you'll get there.
The story is that a minister, Horace Burgess, received a message from God--"Build it, and they will come." Maybe he had just got done watching a well-known Kevin Costner movie (but I'm only guessing). But after that, he started building, and building, and building. After Horace put down the hammer, others weilded it in his place. The treehouse is nearly 100 feet tall at its apex, and the complex encompasses about 10,000 sqare feet of interior space. It houses a church sanctuary that is used every Sunday. There isn't a poor seat in the house.
It's open 7am-7pm on sunny days, and guests are welcome to explore the place if they'd like, free of charge. Donations are graciously accepted, though...

I've hiked back to this waterfall 4 times now and though here it has far from optimum flow conditions, this is the first time I've seen it with enough water to look halfway decent. This is a simply spectacular waterfall if you're lucky enough to catch it after 2 or 3 days of steady rain. Someday my timing will be right.
had to do a double take as we were crossing one of the small footbridges in Venice, Italy heading back to our hotel, as i thought i saw a silhouette of a foot coming out from one of the gondolas under another bridge...upon closer inspection, i was totally right and it was indeed a gondolier taking a nap in his gondola...me and wife just smiled and i had to take a shot of this awesome siesta moment...pls. The Carnegie Library in Howell Michigan opened in 1906 and continues to serve as the town's public library today.
While continuing to go through my un-processed shots from last year I stumbled on this gem - I can't believe I considered this a reject last December!

Certainly best viewed in the large size.

When I'm alone I'm feeling blue
Dreaming a dream of a world that's lovely and true
Faintly the dream of a true and wonderful world
And no one will care as long as the world will turn
And I know a place to go to find my peace of mind
And I know a place to find my peace of mind (*)

Amber and I set out today to test out my new Paul C. Buff beauty dish (HOBD). So far, I'm fairly happy with the results.
strobist: 1 White Lightning Ultra 600, camera left, about 1/2 power, diffused by a 22" Paul C. Buff beauty dish (HOBD). Strobe triggered via Vagabond II, triggered via Cybersyncs. A flag was placed camera right to block out the sun. A CPL was used.
The Courthouse Commons building on West Sixth Street is now the home of the Gannon University Office of Graduate Admissions.
The weather was nice, so a great opportunity to play with filters again. The last time I visited this waterfall in the sunshine, I did not yet have any filters, so trying to get the long exposure "soft water" effect resulted in a lot of glaring overexposure of sunny spots. This one was taken using the ND8 and circular polarizer stacked on each other and a bit of processing in Photoshop to brighten up the midtones and shadows.
Sunrise is REALLY EARLY on the east coast (especially when you haven't converted from pacific time...), but it was totally worth it. I got to get out and shoot with some of my landscaping buddies in Rhode Island and visit one of my old haunts.
I'm looking forward to taking a quick trip up to Sonoma County's coastline in the coming weeks to (hopefully) catch the lupine in bloom with some sea stack action in the background. :)

It's rainin' but there ain't a cloud in the sky
Musta been a tear from your eye
Everything'll be okay
Funny thought I felt a sweet summer breeze
Musta been you sighin' so deep
Don't worry we're gonna find a way
I'm waitin', waitin' on a sunny day
Gonna chase the clouds away

It was atleast a month since it rained. But today, suddenly the sky went dark for sometime. But yeah, Bangalore rains are always playful. It will never rain when you think it will.

Late afternoon in late Autumn, deep in the woods after heavy rainfall - an excuse to play with a new filter!
The branch on the left annoys me as it's so out of focus. Te image doesn't quite balance though when cropped out so I've left it in.
One to return to I think.
When leaves have fallen and skies turned to grey
The night keeps on closing in on the day
A nightingale sings his song of farewell
You'd better hide from her freezing hell
On cold wings she's coming
You'd better keep moving
For warmth, you'll be longing
Any day
Come on, just feel it?
Don't you see it?
You'd better believe
When she embraces
Your heart turns to stone
She comes at night when you're all alone
And when she whispers
Your blood shall run cold
You'd better hide before she finds you
Whenever she is raging
She takes a life away
Haven't you seen
Haven't you seen
The ruins of her world
She covers the Earth with a breathtaking cloak
The sun awakes and melts it away
The world now opens its eyes and sees
The dawning of a new day
On cold wings she's coming
You'd better keep moving
For warmth, you'll be longing
Any day
Come on you feel it
Don't you see it
You'd better believe
Whenever she is raging
She takes life away
Haven't you seen
Haven't you seen
The ruins of her world

These are the same trees shown in the previous images, portrayed in quite a different way. A nearby high-pressure water pipe exploded, and the cold temperatures of the night created a fairly big layer of ice around each and every branch, well over an inch in diameter. Sadly, I don't think either will come back to life come spring.
Probably best viewed on black.
Taken using a cheap no-brand circular polarizer to darken the sky, with the sun at an azimuth of approximately 195° from the lens' (lens's? :) ) point of view. Further worked on in post-process to enhance contrast and do other minor edits, topped off with a relatively heavy touch of flou / soft focus to yield a dreamy feeling. Or nightmarish, if you are so inclined.
