an old sunset shot i took some months back by McHenry Dam in McHenry Shores....i saw some rocks and a partially submerged log or tree branch that i thought would make for an interesting foreground....left my circular polarizer on to get some darkening or almost vignetting effect around the edges of the frame esp. at the bottom...pls. Most of the water surface reflections were erased by the use of a circular polarizer filter, increasing thus, the visibility of the lakebed growth.

Every year my wife I journey to the upper peninsula of Michigan for the Paavo Marathon. Our hosts' husband is a local and knows the best waterfalls. While this one is quite modest, it was really close and easy to get to. Enjoy!

Now Friday's cool

But there's sumthin' about Saturday night

You can't say what you won't do

'Cause you know that you just might

I'm alive this evening

It was love at first sight

This Saturday

And every Saturday for the rest of my life

And everyone standin' in line

Yeah lookin' good and lookin' for a real good time

So i'll never have to wonder if

I'll have someone to share all of this with

And it's alright

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright...

...so this song was blaring in my head as i was shooting this long exposure shot of the view of the city looking north towards John Hancock building...a big thank you a friend a fellow flickr fanatic Dan aka as Undun, for letting me have access to this awesome view in East Randolph...there is also one of the coolest pool houses i've seen just behind me which i will post later...check out Undun's flickr stream to see this cool pool...anyway, the foreground reflection is courtesy of the stainless steel wrap of the ledge of this building...this is the 7th floor of this building and i had to carefully get my camera over the rails, set it on the ledge and fired the shot to get this one...just below me is the East Lake Shore Park, another hidden gem in the city as not a lot people know of this wonderful little park...would love to shoot this park this fall when the trees change colors...enjoy your Sunday guys...will be out with friends tonight to see the band Chicago out in Ravinia....pls. In 1993, bluesy alternative rock band Morphine sang about the lure of the needle in their song ‘Cure for Pain’. The band promised to throw all their drugs away when a cure for pain was found. Sadly, in 1999, while on stage in Rome the lead singer had a heart attack, presumably from hard living, and died.

While many of our personal situations in life probably don’t involve a rock star’s level of drugs, sex and rock ’n’ roll, there’s often some level of stress and frustration, and we all cope in different ways.

Well, this is my cure for pain.

an oldie from last summer....i remember this really windy, blustery morning as the winds coming from the lake made it feel cold even though it was summertime...have a great night friends....pls. View On Black

another reflection shot of the city skyline captured around the fountain in Olive Park in downtown Chicago...i am actually right in the middle of the fountain which is turned off during the cold season...some rain passed thru overnight so there were lots of puddles on the floor of the fountain area letting me have some fun comping reflection images...the bleak, gray weather and the mist hanging in the atmosphere almost made this frame look like i did a selective coloring treatment because the only colors noted here would be from the splash of yellow bushes but this is actually a SOOC image...if you guys haven't been to this park yet, you have got to check it out...it's not crowded with tourists, it's quiet, great view of the skyline and close to Navy Pier and Ohio Beach...pls. this is an early morning shot set at 2 seconds to capture some nice bus trails along the Mag Mile in Chicago...had to wipe down the granite surface first as it was pretty dusty before i could successfully get a decent reflection shot...the oncoming bus trails adds some movement in this frame and the John Hancock Building is a nice touch in the backdrop...was hoping to do a longer exposure but the morning light was fast pouring over the city and i only had my circular polarizer with me...hope this one works...pls. Flash back to October and a golden, autumn day. The sky may be grey and the snow may be falling today, but the seasons will change and the sun will shine again. Genesis 8:22 NLT As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night."

Tonight's sunset after the storms rolled through provided an incredible backdrop for these blooming trees. It's been a long run of impressively warm spring days here in Minnesota.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - I've been wanting to visit the Crazy Mountains for a long time. The drive there was gorgeous on this September afternoon.

beautiful autumn clouds float over the city as the bright lights of the city wonderfully gets reflected on Lake Michigan's surface....shot this from North Avenue Beach as i made my way back to Oak Street in front of the Drake Hotel where i parked my car....pls. View On Black

Piedra Road which takes you into the mountains in the San Juan National Forest Colorado. Probably one of my favorite roads into the mountains in the Pagosa Springs area. The beauty surrounding you as you venture deeper and deeper into the forest is majestic and awe-inspiring. I cannot wait to get back in the fall!!

I was hoping to catch some evening color during our visit to Sedona last month. The mornings didn't disappoint, as a break in clouds formed on the eastern horizon providing those beautiful pastels across the sky and beams throughout the valley. Enjoy!

Since it's becoming increasingly obvious that I can't make a daily post, I'm renaming my posts to Weekly Disney. Life has just been too busy lately, and weekly is a pace I feel I can handle a little better...

This picture was made early in the morning on my walk to Epcot one day. I really like the Beach Club / Yacht Club / Boardwalk area of Walt Disney World. I can't wait to stay there again one day!

Disney question of the week: What is your favorite non-park structure on Walt Disney World property? Leave your responses in the comments below!

caught this long exposure shot of the balloon ride in the lagoon in Downtown Disney.....sorry that i haven't been able to visit your streams of late as i don't have internet access here in Orlando....thanks to Andy for giving me access to his laptop so i can download this image...will catch up with you guys later....

i went around Wolf Point area this morning in the city after a brief period of light rain and came upon this nice puddle across Cassidy Tires and had to just capture this scene...and as i was shooting away, i heard a voice behind me and this lady who lived in one of the buildings by Kinzie Bridge locked herself out of her house and wanted to borrow my phone so she could call and wake up her husband who apparently wasn't waking up to the sound of the doorbell...her husband eventually answered the phone and she got back in her house and i went about looking for more photo opps...

- www.kevin-palmer.com - It was a beautiful afternoon for a hike in Little Horn Canyon. This rarely visited canyon had better fall colors than anywhere else I've been in the Bighorn Mountains. This view is looking up towards Dry Fork Ridge.

Another take on this classic frame. I really liked the way the light was hitting in this scene, and using a circular polarizer really helped control the highlights. I just wish that third tree was in bloom like the others... or maybe it's dying? Either way I hadn't noticed the tree until I edited the picture. It's funny how you happen to miss details like this when looking through the viewfinder.
