308/366: Lost Among The Trees – Colorado Aspen (fall)
The fall version of Lost Among the Trees with the Aspens in Colorado. Every place I visit I do this style of photograph with the local trees in the area.
This one features the Aspen trees in Colorado in their fall bloom. I love how the leaves seems to twinkle and sparkle in the sunlight. There are so many unusual and breathtaking parts of this photo when shot from a low perspective. When shooting this photograph I put my camera on the ground and try to center it between several of the trees where the top is open and the sun in shining in. I then use a remote shutter release to snap the photo. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, I just want to go and get lost among these beautiful Aspen trees in Colorado.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - I've always liked this view of Sundance Mountain. But the peak is privately owned so I don't know if I'll ever be able to climb it.
Here's a panorama of a faint rainbow and distant storm structure lurking over northeast Coles County viewed from rural Charleston, IL.
I absolutely loved how dark the storm's tones were in contrast to the rest of the sky. Just before the rainbow popped up I was betting there was going to be one - just not sure how bright it was going to be.
The sun came out once the nuisance clouds scattered out of the way and when the light filtered in, the rainbow became noticeable and then the storm structure really intensified in contrast with dark slate blue tones and light grays. I really liked the lonely tree to make reference for just how much space I used to create this panorama - see how little it is compared to the rest of the sky? Sometimes when shooting wide any object in the foreground or horizon I like to use to show space and comparison of just how much it takes to get everything condensed into a large panorama like this one. As well, I used a circular polarizer, to enhance the sky and make the rainbow pop a little more. It lasted maybe 3-5 minutes if that and then it was a goner.
Definitely this is one of my favorite shots so far of the season, there's just something about a dark storm whether severe or not that contrasts so well with a rainbow and the light that's there. The photos that do most the talking are what I am always aiming and shooting for!
The beautiful view from the Thames Path through Limehouse and Wapping. Taken on a rare perfectly clear day in London.
another view of Cathedral Rock, just one of the many magical red rock formations in magical Sedona, Arizona....me and my wife are already planning for a return trip here in the near future....it was our first time here and we both just fell in love with this enchanting place.....pls.View On Black
shot this using a circular polarizer using a nikkor 18-105mm kit lens and just used auto landscape mode......view the original size to explore the details.....
Winter flow arrives at Fall Creek in the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, in Santa Cruz mountains, California. This is an 8 second exposure through a circular polarizer, which helped knock down the glare and accentuate the colors.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - This is one of the most beautiful times of year in Wyoming. The valleys are green and the mountains are filled with colorful wildflowers. This was taken near Red Grade Road. The trees were burnt in a wildfire 10 years ago.
Cropped per Tom's suggestion... Thanks Tom! (I accidentally deleted the original...)
I'm open to all constructive criticism good or bad on the pictures from this recent trip. I thought more about composition and exposure on this trip than I ever have and really took some time to set up most of my shots. I figure maybe a little constructive criticism will hopefully help to advance my skills as a photographer. So if you've got a second and you see something about the photo that you like or don't like, don't be afraid to speak up!

Sunrise on the Bay with RZ68. This Technicolor moment was the only color we saw all morning. View from near Treasure Island of the new tower for the "Self-Anchored Suspension Span" replacement bridge. Container cranes in the Port of Oakland behind.
I am still in awe of the wide angle distortion, others may not like it.

My three boys and I survey the beautiful landscapes of Badlands National Park and climb where we can.
I am back --- take that as a warning! 7 days and 2,271 miles more on the rental, red-eyed, in need of a long, long shower but happy, very happy to be precise; I am back from a whirlwind trip to the best of northwestern Oregon, more precisely, Portland, Mt. Hood, Cape Kiwanda and the Columbia River Gorge which all have been wonderful places to explore.
I had Oregon's finest in the burger department, so I was told and still... it can't even remotely compete with a fine Cali In-n-Out Double Double. Anyhoooow, this shot is dedicated to The Captain, Miles Morgan who I had the pleasure meeting and shooting with. Thanks for the rad time, buddy! I thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
More to come, folks. I need to catch up on some sleep --- in a real bed.
During my brother's visit we took advantage of the nice weather to walk around McDonald Forest Preserve. At the behest of my sister-in-law, I took pictures of some trees. Enjoy!
Best viewed large.
This is a nice small waterfall on the slopes of mount Gisuris in Sarek. We were hiking around the mountain as we encountered this site, and decided to have a break from our walking. You can see mount Nijak in the background. The hiking day was warm and beautiful, virtually perfect! These are the days you dream to get when you are out there... Anyway, have a great weekend everyone!

this was from last saturday night during a photowalk with 2 of my FLICKR contacts Undun and Terry USA...we walked and shot along the Riverwalk and up along Wacker going west...wanted to try shooting intersecting traffic trails with a very low POV so i just placed my camera on the curbside with an UWA lens and clicked it...i liked how this Smurf's POV came out, especially with the El train tracks up above me showing it's underbelly...hope you all had a great weekend and will catch up with your streams later....pls. even with heavy, gray clouds, sunsets in Sedona can still take your breath away with the way the rocks just glow every time it gets hit even with just a hint of the sun's rays...the rock formation on the right side of the frame is called the Submarine Rock and Chicken Point.....pls. View On Black

For some reason I think of my dearly departed old grandmother when I look at this image. Not sure if it's the colors or the slightly faded feeling. Maybe it's just the holidays and I'm missing her. Either way, it's always good to be thinking of her.

A shot of the top of what I think is the tallest waterfall in Plitvice Jezera National Park, Croatia.
Bracket of 5 images from 1/4s to 4s processed in AuroraHDR.
The famous Chain of Rocks Bridge and its 22° bend between Missouri and Illinois.
Four minute, twenty second exposure right after sunset.
Korita Mostnice, near Stara Fužina / Lake Bohinj, Slovenia. This is a view from a narrow bridge across a side canyon - I had to move my tripod right off the bridge when the odd person wanted to get past.
A panorama (5 x 5-bracket sets) merged with Lightroom, processed with Aurora HDR, Luminar, and Photoshop (with Lumenzia). Not only is it a panorama, but the lower bracket is at a closer focus distance, making it a focus stack as well.
Polariser and 3-stop ND filter used.

The fog rolled up out of the river valley. The sun had yet to peak out of the trees. The air was crisp in my nose. It was a beautiful morning God had created.
this was captured last fall season at the Nippersink Forest Preserve here in Round Lake, Illinois...this place is only 5 minutes away from my house and me and my wife do our walking exercises here...it's not a huge forest preserve but i think is a very photogenic one...this was one of those beautiful autumn twilights with awesome streaky clouds reflecting nicely on really still waters, plus the blue hour light even made it more fantastic to see...pls. A foggy, drizzly, autumn morning in the mountains of North Carolina. What more could a photographer ask for?
i really wanted to get a shot of The Bean with nobody, not a single soul around it so one morning, i took the early train out from the 'burbs and headed out really early on a really cold morning...it was worth it 'coz when i got there it was just me, The Bean and the security person...i wanted to capture this frame where it would have a postcard feel to it and included the AT&T PLAZA logo in the comp...i also had to level and balance the lines a bit just to get some sense of symmetry to this image...hope this works guys...pls.View On Black
this morning, i decided to head out into the city a bit earlier as i was picking up my wife from her workplace...i was able to park around Oak Street Beach and planned on doing some walking around the lakefront just to see how my ankle would hold up...it was a beautiful morning, very mild with clear blue skies and the sun was already up...of course i had my camera with me and i was doing a little bit of shooting along the way...plenty of runners, bikers, in line skaters and morning lake swimmers along the lakefront this morning too...30 minutes into my walk, i ended up in Milton Lee Olive III Park in the River East section of the city in the Streeterville Neighborhood...i consider this park a hidden gem, as not all locals know of this area...it's a great place to relax and view the skyline any time of the day...there's even a lookout terrace that juts out and overhangs over Lake Michigan...and this is where i took this shot, where i used the granite benches on the terrace as the reflective surface for this frame...i simply placed my camera flat on the surface of the bench plus i was also finally able to use my new 77mm circular polarizer for my UWA lens...i think i really love how this different perspective turned out...pls. this sunset was shot from last summer by Lily Lake in Lakemoor, Illinois...i pass this lake everyday going to and coming home from work and most of the times i stop by briefly to watch the sunset and if the conditions are great, i start shooting as many frames as i can.....most mornings, this lake is just really calm and glass-like which is perfect for reflection shots...pls. The rich greens of late summer by the river prepare for autumn's golden touch. The Muskrat River flows by this island park in the community of Pembroke, Ontario. I intend to return in about two week's time to capture the transition in the hardwoods to full autumn glory.

blue hour sets over downtown Orlando, Florida...this scene was captured during our vacation in Florida last fall season...i was inspired to seek this lake out after i saw pictures of this scene along the halls of Orlando Airport when we arrived...after a little bit of research and a little help from GARMIN, me and Delight found Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando just as the sun was starting to set...the lake looked awesome with the city beautifully reflecting on it's surface...we stuck around the area for about an hour and a half so i could capture sunset, blue hour and night shot images of this beautiful scene...overall, i was pretty satisfied with the shots i got that night and was very thankful that i saw those pictures in the airport in the first place which led me to this shots...pls. On a wonderfully calm, sunny day the clear water of Hay Bay made for an interesting foreground and sky reflections
