this is another shot from our Morton Arboretum meetup last saturday...Lake Meadow was really magical with all that thick fog...the early morning light cast some cool effects as well as it was trying to burn thru the mist...the two honkers were a big bonus casting some awesome silhouttes especially with the bird on top of the rock standing on one leg trying to show off.....i have an almost similar shot of this scene at a slightly different angle and set at a different exposure setting which totally changes the whole mood of the image...will post that later....pls. this is a shot of the Chicago River very early in the morning looking towards the west...it was a little bit chilly and the city was just starting to stir up and there was some really beautiful early morning light which was perfect for shooting...best time to really be out shooting is very early in the morning and at sunset and at night...this would be my very first post for 2012 and hope you guys like it...hope to be able to renew my pro account soon and be able to post here more often....have a good one guys....might enjoy this more if you View On Black...
Well, took a little trip a few months ago, out to parker falls where the fog was rollin'. It was a beautiful day to shoot and as you can see above it looked beautiful! I was very pleased with the way my photos truned out, i'm just now getting around to posting them :) Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!!
Grate Signs was back in town today to rehang the second reproduction sign from the defunct Naples Bakery in Evergreen Park. The sign is hung on the west side of Barraco's Pizza Restaurant.
The first reproduction sign was hit by a truck (12-4-17) turning in the driveway. It clipped a digital scrolling advertising sign that hung under the neon sign. The sign was taken down in December of 2017.
The new sign is much higher than its predecessor.
An LED sign was added below a month later for advertising.

Arguably, the weather today was the best of the year. After several intense weeks of work and busyness of selling and buying new homes, it was a great release to grab a camera and walk about our wonderful city.
On the way back home, I overheard that they'd be raising the bridges on the river to allow the sailboats navigate through the downtown area. Here are some shots of taken around Lake and Wacker. What a perfect day to be in a boat! The breeze was healthy and if these folks ever got the lake, it would be loads of fun!
Warren, Connecticut. Suffice to say that I did not get under this daisy with a 300mm lens and shoot up, it was bent over so I had an opportunity to shoot the beautiful underside of it from the side.
got very lucky on my last day in DC when i decided to head out to the National Mall really early to do some sunrise shots and was rewarded with some beautiful light and cloud formations...i really liked how the memorial is brightly lit up with the dark silhouttes of the trees along the banks of the Tidal Basin plus the reflections just puts an added dimension to the whole landscape...thanks for viewing friends...pls. I did a recent business trip to Niagara Falls, but it was a different Niagara than I'm used to seeing. This long, harsh winter has turned the river polar blue and cause the formation of what looks a lot like glaciers where ice has built up to epic proportions. It was freezing on the day I shot this in late March, with icy winds pounding around me. It made for uniquely beautiful colors, though. I used a Fuji X-T3 for this shot along with the extremely versatile XF 16-55mm F2.8 LM WR standard zoom, which I'm currently reviewing. I also used an Irix EDGE circular polarizer to intensify colors. My review coverage can be seen here:

- www.kevin-palmer.com - The views from the top of Medicine Bow Peak were stunning. This was a fairly easy hike considering the mountain is over 12,000 feet high. The 7 mile loop trail traverses the top of the ridge and descends next to the lakes.

I took this shot from the parking lot below The highest point in Ga, Brasstown Bald. The tower at the top sits at an elevation of 4,784 feet (1,458 m). As you can see, the leaves have a good start up there, and probably will peak within a couple weeks time.
Taken at Cape Glocester in the Whitsunday's, Australia.

What to do on a hot humid day in London? Go to the coast where there's plenty of sea breeze. Go to Brighton with seemingly the rest of the capital following the same idea? Definitely not! Go to unfashionable (and the butt of many jokes) Bognor Regis further west along the Sussex Coast! The beaches and seafront were pleasantly uncrowded and free from litter.
In this composition, I came across 2 unoccupied deck chairs sporting the colours of Oxford (dark blue) and Cambridge Universities on a stretch of empty shingle beach with a lone figure walking westwards past the groyne in the direction of the small pier and beyond.
A non-HDR composition slightly softened as RAW file before conversion into a JPEG.

I had a 3 hour window last Friday afternoon to shoot the New York skyline from the Jersey shore. I met up with an acquaintance from Instagram that lives in the Jersey City area. The clouds were looking super promising, both in the sky and in the forecast. By the time I got down there though, the clouds disappeared. The water was really choppy so I pushed this one out really far to smooth it.

contrary to the serenity and peacefulness of this image, we are currently being hammered by high winds here in Chicagoland right now with predictions of 20 foot waves along Lake Michigan tonight...brace up Chicago and y'all stay safe out there tonight...pls. View On Black

If you haven't seen the story, It's in the description below This Photo.
After the awful weather of the day before, this was a welcome sight! From here the plan was to drive to Williams Arizona via Death Valley, Las Vegas & Kingman AZ.
this was captured last fall season at Lake McCullom in McHenry County, Illinois during one of the most beautiful sunsets i've seen by this lake...this is just one frame of a series of shots i took that particular day...i used an ND4X filter for this shot and stacked a circular polarizer as well....i wanted to post a nice serene image to just relax me a bit after a grueling 12hr shift in the O.R.....hope you enjoy your weekend and for all Chicagoans, enjoy the first significant snow day tomorrow of 4-6 inches....woooohooooo....pls. Winter can be a miserable time for photography so I want everyone to #EmbraceTheGrey! Even if the weather is grey and overcast, I'd like you to get out there with your camera and create some images / vlogs. When you post them up use the tag #EmbraceTheGrey, and when spring comes around I'll create a showcase video of the best content to highlight everyone's great work.
If you want to see me kick this community challenge with some long exposure images from Brixham in Devon, then check out my latest video: Let's All Embrace the Grey: A Photography Community Challenge
there is nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean 🌊refuses to stop kissing the shore line, no matter how many times it is sent away.
the tide was fairly low when we visited the beach and it was quite a walk to reach the ocean. the wind was blowing the ocean water inland to the left and right of where i setup and created a beautiful misty haze. the land and lighthouse towards the center of the photograph are Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area and Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
