A very famous spot for land- and cityscape photographers in the Netherlands is this arrangement of colorful harbour houses in Groningen. But since I'm not from around this image has been on my bucketlist for quite some time. Last weekend we were on our way to Eemshaven and I finally had the opportunity to take this image of Reitdiep. My way: It was a sunny day with lots of clouds. Adding a 10 stop ND filter plus a circular polarisation-filter on top of each other I achieved my long exposure for a smooth water surface plus some motion in the sky. The sun brings out all the bright colors of the Scandinavian-looking houses.
I am contented with the result (although I loved a little more movement in the clouds) but hey....: there should always be reason for improvement.
For the rest..........
Enjoy!

150 second exposure during the blue hour. Definitely check this one out large.
Revisiting the spot where I took this shot.
(b/w version in 1st comment)
After having to be satisfied with a quick iPhone capture earlier that day, I finally got out into open space to capture some of these beautiful clouds we've been having in the Bay Area these past couple of weeks.
Unfortunately, literally minutes after I arrived those threatening clouds from the left swept in and overtook that blue sky from the right. Luckily though I did manage to fire off a few keepers before that happened. I really love pond reflection pics!
Another shot from the other morning.. it was a pretty sweet sunrise.
As always this shot is a result of playing around with aperture and shutter speed to get cool effects on the water with the waves rushing around. It really is pot luck and so usual I'll shoot 20-30 of these sort of shots and see what comes out when I'm back at the desk ;-)

This is a photograph of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel on Prince Edward Island in Canada.
It was an odd day when I took this with rain squals coming and going, but as evening came and sunset neared, some of the black cloud began to move away from the western horizon. It created a rather impressively dramatic sky with the additional posibility of a gorgeous sunset. With all of this lining up, I knew where I wanted to be, and started driving out towards Mont Carmel du Notre Dame.
While the sunset didn't take off the way I hoped, it wasn't bad, and the added drama of the dark rain clouds didn't fail to impress. Here is one of the many shots I took in the area of the old Roman Catholic Church. It's a specil place! Canada's Historic Places website, describes the church this way: "The large imposing Roman Catholic church of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel is a late Victorian Gothic brick structure situated by the sea in Mont Carmel, PEI. It is built in the classic "T" formation with two bell towers at the corners of the front of the building."
I hope you enjoy my photo.

Along the "Strand" in Myrtle Beach there are a number of really fantastic piers that stretch out into the Atlantic. They are gifts to photographers, particularly in the morning light when you can get lovely reflections in the wet sand. I added to this by shooting a long exposure to smooth the water. I used the incredibly versatile (and generally excellent) Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 RXD on a Sony a7RIII for this shot along a PolarPro QuartzLine ND1000 (10 stop) filter to allow for the long exposure even in brighter conditions. The QuartzLine filters are expensive but fantastic due to amazing clarity and complete color neutrality. You can see my review of the PolarPro QuartzLine filters here:

Washington, Connecticut. This field is part of the Macricostas Preserve of the Steep Rock Land Trust. I first knew it as a corn field but this year it's planted with grass and will be hayed in late summer.
This lone tree is the only one on the entire field and it no doubt either gives the tractor driver fits or gives him or her a challenge. I've always wondered why it was never cut down, must be that it's a challenge.
today was one of those days when the skies were just filled with beautiful, puffy, radiant clouds...add to that an almost zero wind and a perfectly still lake and you got scenes like this one....this is in Lily Lake once again in Lakemoor, Illinois....pls. View On Black

Rain is an uncommon event in Arizona dessert. On the first day of our trip there, in rained for about 36 hours straight causing our photo tour through the incredible Lower Antelope Canyon to be pushed to the next day and then a few more hours for the staff to make the hike suitable. What resulted was two days worth of tours crammed into one half-day's time. While the canyon was overrun with masses of humanity, the previous day's rain washed away the dust leaving vibrant colors and a lack of blowing sand (to the benefit of the cameras). A unique place, glad to have visited, but crazy experience. Enjoy!
Pipestem Falls is the first waterfall my fellow waterfall buddies and I hit while in southern West Virginia. It sits right along Rt. 20 near the Pipestem Resort State Park. I've stopped there a few times before, but never ventured to the base until this trip. The view down here is .....well, Fantastic! All kinds of weather today at the Stokkseyri shore, sunshine, hail showers, rain showers, cloudy. Windy but 4°C above! All in all quite a good day with my English setter Týra. A new Nisi filter system try out.
Not my best shot from Bulgaria, but it's the first one i post processed so i thought i'd post it first... Many more to come though!

I might have had jet lag as this was taken in the early morning hours of my wife and I's first day in Reykjavik. The sun had already officially rose, but due to the storms it was still dark and gloomy out. After seeing this sculpture so many times in books, it was great to see how large it really is in-person. Hope you enjoy my rendition of it!
this sunset scene was captured about an hour ago at Lily Lake in Lakemoor, Illinois......this frame is my favorite shot from my sunset shots this afternoon at Lake McCullom and Lily Lake....will have more to share later.....have a good night flickr friends!!!!

I came across this lone set of Lily Pads on near the reeds at a bank of Lake Leatherwood I'm my last trip out there. I thought the negative space provided by using a CPL on the water against the reeds on the left border made it a little more compelling to shoot. I also like the different colors of the lily pads as well, not often do I see a clump of them where each one is a different tone!
With a couple of friends having significant birthdays and an anniversary, a group of us headed to the Santa Barbara area for a long weekend of wine and music to celebrate. I was generally awake prior to sunrise and would just grab the camera for a stroll along the ocean, as it was only a quick walk from our rental. The mornings had low tide, but the sand was still damp for a nice reflection. We had beautiful weather, to say the least. Hoping to return the US-version of the Riviera for another visit someday.
Mount Rainier seen from the Pinnacle Peak Trail
I posted a black & white version a while back; I took forever to make a color edit of this that I liked...anyway, I'm mostly happy with this, despite the skyline looking a bit (IMO) overdone. This is a single exposure, no blending or HDR was involved.
I took this shot about 5 minutes after stumbling into Marc Adamus who kindly directed me to the gorgeous Avalanche Lilies.

One of the most breathtaking sights in Kenya on a nice day. This is looking west towards the Great Rift Valley over the Escarpment on the way to Lake Naivasha. This picture certainly does not do the view justice. The little hill on the right is the Longonot volcano.
It looks much better On Black
this is the view of the city as seen from the top of the Nichols Bridgeway or actually, this would be the view if you fell flat on your face on the bridge and looked up...the Nichols Bridgeway is a pedestrian bridge that runs from and connects Millenium Park and the second level of the Art Institute of Chicago...the night time views from this vantage point is simply spectacular...when i did this long exposure frame, i had to place my camera on the surface of the bridge as security on this bridgeway is kind of strict about using your tripods...i kind of like how this came out though especially with the lines and patterns and the silvery glow of the bridge...have a great night everyone...pls.
