I posted an exposure from this session in color a time back, and today I went back and chose a separate exposure that fit perfectly for black and white. That's the beautiful thing about daytime long exposures, if you take a handful of exposures, chances are there is a perfect frame for color and a perfect frame for black and white.
Camera: Canon 6d
Lens: Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II at 16

This photo shows what's left of the Carcross Cutoff Services. It's been closed, and essentially abandoned, for fifteen or twenty years now. At one time, it was a gas station with a little restaurant in the part of the building facing the camera. I remember eating a clubhouse sandwich with fries here and being served by a rather attractive young woman wearing a shirt that read, "Canadian Girls Kick Ass." I think it was perhaps the only time I'd stopped in there for food, and for some reason I remember the sandwich and the server.
Photo taken with the Canon EOS R and RF24-105mm f/4.0L. I also used a PolarPro ND64 and Circular polarizing filter. All the above was mounted to a lightweight travel tripod for stability. The photo was taken before dawn but a little colour was already creeping into the sky. The temperature was a bone chilling minus twenty-five degrees Celcius when I photographed this. I took three exposures to minimize noise and maximize detail and range. They were converted from raw, stacked and processed in Adobe Lightroom 12.

Had a great time up in Portland. Got a suite on the top floor of the Hyatt that had a a huge private balcony overlooking Old Port Portland and Casco Bay. The view was incredible, I'm pretty sure one of the best you can get in the city. Worked with some rather harsh light on this one, but I was able to pull down a white screen in a 12 foot long window to the left of the frame that worked pretty nice as a reflector.

Several weeks ago I posted an image of this view upstream near Pansy Patch Park in Pembroke. I promised to revisit as the trees turned. Here is one of the results of that visit today.

the Grand Canal of Venice is the largest canal in this magical place and is shaped like a backward S and is approximately 2 miles long...it ends right around the area of my previous posting which is between San Marco and Punta Della Dogana area...the length of the canal is lined with majestic Pallazos that were grand in size and decor...this frame was shot from on top of the Ponte de l' Accademia bridge or also known as the Salute Bridge on the San Marco side of Venice's many neighborhoods...once you cross the bridge over towards the right side of this frame, it becomes the Dorsoduro neighborhood...the big dome in the middle is the church of La Salute...you can also see some nice light trails of Vaporettis or water taxis just lazily cruising down the canal ferrying passengers up and down the waterways of Venice...pls. The sun sets behind the old (nearer) and new Forth road bridges. The old one opened in 1964, the new one is due to open to traffic later this year.
i was planning on doing some morning blue hour shots around Navy Pier and Olive Park this morning but got into the city too late...decided to head over to Millenium Park instead to do early morning shots of the very popular Bean...it was pretty much deserted as i expected with a couple of shooters just finishing up with their sunrise shoots and getting ready to leave...i was lucky again to catch some beautiful glowing golden light which painted the Bean and the surrounding skyscrapers gloriously...like how clean and crisp this came out and hopefully you guys like it too...pls. The people in my town grow an ornamental tree called a Bradford Pear. When in full bloom, the dazzling white is glorious, but bloom only stays in "peak" for a couple of days. I took these Wednesday. By Sunday, these will be green. You'll be seeing a few of my images of this wonderful sight over the next few days.
Best viewed with love in bloom!
Is PEI pretty in the fall? Well, you be the judge but I'm going with a resounding, "yes!" This photo was taken just minutes from Summerside off Highway 11. It isn't by any means a unique view. The colours of autumn are vibrant and alive all over the island. Best of all, perhaps, it is still warm enough to be comfortable out. We met a fellow fishing not far from here. He was just tossing his lure from shore and already had a nice striped bass for his dinner. It's pretty idyllic here.
By the way, basic adjustments only to this photo in post. No local adjustments or AI applied. What you see is what you get. It really is this spectacular here.
This image precedes the previous upload by just a few seconds. Sometimes you can caught up in taking the picture and miss the point, miss the experience but I was greedy. I enjoyed the moment and bagged the shot ;)
Hope you all have a fab weekend.
This black and white shot of Edinburgh Castle was taken on the steps leading from the Grassmarket to Heriot Place. A 90 second long exposure was used to streak the clouds on this blustery Valentine's Day morning. The rock on which the catle stands is an extinct volcano and provides a fantastic, natural fortification.

These old pier supports going out into the Caribbean Sea provided a nice frame for this shot. The approaching seagull and the cruise ship in the distance provided a few interesting elements.

This is one of those location which will simply leave you speechless. Ocean, rocks, grass, lighthouse, everything seems to be in the right place. I've been standing on the edge of the cliff for more than two hours enjoying the show. For those who haven't been there yet, I strongly advice to visit this magical place.

5/365: The Arrival
Greeted by a sea of rolling white puffy clouds.
Cows grazing the food rich meadows.
Mountains turning shades of gold, red and orange.
The air so crisp and fresh you can feel it in your soul.
An open road… ready for adventure, journey and discovery.
It doesn’t get much better then Colorado in the fall.

This is one of two photos that are my favorites' from the Gettysburg Photowalk.
I went a little beyond the planned route of our Photowalk and stumbled upon this Marquee. Believe it or not, this photo was taken with the D40 kit lens and a Nikon Circular Polarizer Filter II [Slim]. This lens is at its sharpest @ f/8. Shot in RAW and edited in Lightroom. This was another photo that was practically straight out of the camera. I love shooting in RAW, it's so nice to get off the .jpg training-wheels!

This is of the beautiful Minnehaha falls, this was our first stop on our trip to North GA last week! This is a beautiful 100ft waterfall, it was a delight shooting it. From looking at fellow flickrians pics this is a pretty strong flow for the falls! LOOK AT THIS!
The Point Betsie Lighthouse seen here from the beach at the point of the same name in Benzie County s one of the most photographed lighthouses on the Great Lakes. Views are particularly dramatic in the winter when the area is encased in snow and ice, unlike this idyllic August afternoon.

After buying a new car a month ago, I thought it time to take a one-day road trip - 15 hours in total. I headed around the southern bend of Lake Michigan and followed the coast of the lake up some 300 miles into Michigan. The Blue Star Highway was absolutely gorgeous to drive. Here are my favorite pics of the day.
