Sunrise portrait sessions on the beach. So many incredible options because of the gorgeous color and lighting. I chose to silhouette my subject for this photo, leaving her as the anonymous maiden that anyone could superimpose themselves upon. I used a Fuji X-T3 for this shot along with the extremely versatile XF 16-55mm F2.8 LM WR standard zoom, which I'm currently reviewing. I also used an Irix EDGE circular polarizer to intensify colors, and this shot is as it came out of camera. My review coverage can be seen here:

I'm leaving at the end of the day for a week-long retreat so I won't be around for a bit. I know I just returned, but it is what it is! There's no internet access there and I won't even be bringing my laptop. My laptop and I haven't been separated in years so I'm hoping I find it relaxing rather than completely discombobulating!

I will have my trusty iPhone though so hopefully there will be reception and I can spend some of my down time catching up on your streams. I know I've missed so much! <3

After a lovely morning on Ramshaw rocks followed by an hour in Buxton to buy breakfast and dry socks I headed along the A6. With the amount of fog around I realised there were still photographic opportunities and stopped off. Unfortunately, the fog then lifted. Still a nice scene though, and lesson learned. Breakfast and dry socks can wait.

In these old photos of New York I use different types of filters. In this one I use the circular Polarizer filter.

The circular Polarizer filter, is the bread of every day in my cameras, almost always my photos are through this circular filter, (please make no mistake, some sellers give the linear without saying a word, the circular is only suitable for digital photos and is the one that you have to use) I use this filter also the night when there are many lamps of lights, but be careful, these to be doubles can do unwanted reflections, you have to move of position to remove the reflections of above the lens.

Although they tell you that Polarizers eliminate surface glare from most objects, you always have to be careful, but that's if the colors are great.

This picture was taken right in the board of Argentina and Chile. It was a very windy sunny day, and I could not resist taking some pictures. So here it is one of them, hope you like it!

A break from the Irish photography for tonight; gathered up some inspiration from Yen Baet for this shot. A master at blue hour shooting, Yen's been inspiring me since the day I discovered her work.

Thought I'd try "Reverse Mahattanhenge" (or "Sunrise Manhattanhenge"), for a change.

It was a great sunrise, but I wish there had been some more clouds in the sky. Got some ideas for the next time I try this...

Taken way back in 2011. Freezing Cold with -27degree Celcius handhold without tripod. But I don't think I need one though, the light is more than enough : )

This is really a wonderful place for nature lover. I swear I will go back again, summer or fall.

decided to post a shot taken from Lake McCullom in McHenry, Illinois as you guys might be tired at my vacation pictures....this is an almost similar shot to a pic i posted earlier on i called Delight's Sunset but this was shot at a higher perspective....still shot with my 18-105 nikkor lens with circular polarizers then processed as single file pseudo HDR to bring out some lost highlights on the foreground.....more vacation pics coming though after this one.....pls. Nature provides a beautiful respite from some of the ugly things happening in our world right now.

This photo is a single exposure taken with the Canon EOS R and EF 17-40 F/4.0 L. I wore long insulated rubber boots and shuffled out through the deep snow onto the ice alongside this forest creek. Except for the sound of trickling water, it was absolutely silent and beautiful in the forest. Here there are no lies, and there is no deceit. Nature gives what it gives, and takes what it takes.

I had the camera mounted on a heavy but sturdy tripod, and used both a circular polarizing filter, and a neutral density filter to control some of the reflections, and eek out as much dynamic range as possible. The final image was processed from raw using Adobe Lightroom Classic 11.

Here's another portrait shot from the exciting new Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 for Sony FE. This one is taken at F2, and you can see how crisp the textures are on the eyes (Eye AF works very well) while the backround is still beautifully soft. The flare effect has been added in post. None of my children have blue eyes, so it was a treat to be able to have one of my daughter's friends model for this shot so that I could make her beautiful eyes pop! I used a Irix EDGE Circular Polarizer to intensify colors and contrast (see my review of the EDGE filters here: bit.ly/EDGEfilterDA) My early coverage of the Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE can be found below, and stay tuned for more!

This was a completely recreational shot. We were down enjoying the sea cliffs on the best Sunday in months, sunny and warm. This was a nice flat spot on the cliff and there was a green tide pool, so it was a no brainer. This is a single image straight out of the camera just with punched up color. A 90 deg angle was perfect for my 100 x 100mm circular polarizer, so I was able to stack a grad ND with only the depth of the standard LEE holder. This allowed me to shoot through three filters at 16mm with barely any vignetting, and I have found that the square circular polarizer typically always works the best at 90 degree rotations anyways.

A long exposure shot from the harbour wall at the very picturesque fishing village of Pittenweem in Fife, Scotland.

One thing that I've noticed, is that my best shots come from when I'm "warmed up" and stop trying so hard to capture something. This photo was taken well after everyone left and it was just my son and I wandering around. OK, it was me wandering around and my son complaining that he want to go and do something silly, like eat dinner. Who needs food when there are pictures to take!

While I prefer to have streams in their natural state, being able to use it as a vantage point makes for a different photograph. It was a good thing that the light started to fade, my Circular Polarizer can only do so much in cutting down the light for a long exposure.

I posted a photo a little while back of Lanterman's Mill and its waterfall taken just around sunset. A few weeks earlier, sometime around October 26th, I got up with the birds and shot it just before dawn. The fall foliage wasn't quite peak yet, but I kind of liked this shot from that morning with the sun peeking through the trees.
