Not my best shot from Bulgaria, but it's the first one i post processed so i thought i'd post it first... Many more to come though!

Looking down from the hills of Sibley Regional Preserve into Huckleberry and Redwood Parks and into Canyon, California where that finger of fog is sitting. Breathtaking when viewed large. Original size (1728 x 1121) may be habit forming. www.ebparks.org/parks/sibley

I might have had jet lag as this was taken in the early morning hours of my wife and I's first day in Reykjavik. The sun had already officially rose, but due to the storms it was still dark and gloomy out. After seeing this sculpture so many times in books, it was great to see how large it really is in-person. Hope you enjoy my rendition of it!

this sunset scene was captured about an hour ago at Lily Lake in Lakemoor, Illinois......this frame is my favorite shot from my sunset shots this afternoon at Lake McCullom and Lily Lake....will have more to share later.....have a good night flickr friends!!!!

The precursor to an almighty lightning storm later that evening.

I came across this lone set of Lily Pads on near the reeds at a bank of Lake Leatherwood I'm my last trip out there. I thought the negative space provided by using a CPL on the water against the reeds on the left border made it a little more compelling to shoot. I also like the different colors of the lily pads as well, not often do I see a clump of them where each one is a different tone!

With a couple of friends having significant birthdays and an anniversary, a group of us headed to the Santa Barbara area for a long weekend of wine and music to celebrate. I was generally awake prior to sunrise and would just grab the camera for a stroll along the ocean, as it was only a quick walk from our rental. The mornings had low tide, but the sand was still damp for a nice reflection. We had beautiful weather, to say the least. Hoping to return the US-version of the Riviera for another visit someday.

Mount Rainier seen from the Pinnacle Peak Trail

I posted a black & white version a while back; I took forever to make a color edit of this that I liked...anyway, I'm mostly happy with this, despite the skyline looking a bit (IMO) overdone. This is a single exposure, no blending or HDR was involved.

One of the most breathtaking sights in Kenya on a nice day. This is looking west towards the Great Rift Valley over the Escarpment on the way to Lake Naivasha. This picture certainly does not do the view justice. The little hill on the right is the Longonot volcano.

It looks much better On Black

this is the view of the city as seen from the top of the Nichols Bridgeway or actually, this would be the view if you fell flat on your face on the bridge and looked up...the Nichols Bridgeway is a pedestrian bridge that runs from and connects Millenium Park and the second level of the Art Institute of Chicago...the night time views from this vantage point is simply spectacular...when i did this long exposure frame, i had to place my camera on the surface of the bridge as security on this bridgeway is kind of strict about using your tripods...i kind of like how this came out though especially with the lines and patterns and the silvery glow of the bridge...have a great night everyone...pls. Not so sure about the composition here...

The title was chosen based on that the sun is looking to the towers from a window as if it was shy and the only thing that you can see is its rays ...

Have a nice day my friends and thanks for the comments ... will catch up with you as soon as possible !

No trip down to the New River Gorge area in West Virginia is really complete without witnessing a sunrise from Grandview. This was my first time there, but it certainly won't be my last! I arrived early to find thick clouds everywhere, over the river and over the sky. But as anyone familiar with mountain photography can attest, things can change for the better in a hurry. The time for sunrise came and went without a clue of it's arrival, but about a half hour later the clouds began to part and the sun finally made a glorious appearance.

I encountered numerous lion's mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata, AKA the giant jellyfish or the hair jelly) while walking the docks at Seward Harbor in Alaska.

With a Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM Lens mounted to the Canon EOS 5Ds R, I was focused on harborscapes and was not expecting small subjects such as jellyfish. While I could have gone back to the SUV for the 100-400mm Lens, I was able to find a couple of these subjects just below the dock, allowing me to occasionally get close enough to fill much of the 70mm frame.

By photographing a lion's mane that was near the surface with a circular polarizer filter cutting the reflections and by adding some contrast in post processing, I was able to get an underwater look from a surface-captured image. In post, I removed some debris in the water and increased saturation a bit to brighten the colors. Hard to see at this resolution is the small jellyfish, one of the lion's mane jellyfish's prey, just out of tentacle reach toward the left side of the frame.

I really love my circular polarizer for the kind of colors it delivers in such shots. The only processing i did on this pic is to increase the contrast a bit. The Polarizer takes care of the sky and sunset tones.

I had been wanting to photograph waterfalls in the Highlands area in autumn for the past couple of years, but did not have the opportunity until 2013. I planned my trip around a couple of fall foliage calendars that I found online but, after my 5 and a half hour drive up there, I realized pulling into Highlands that I had arrived a little early. The trees were still mostly green with only some pops of reds and dull yellows and oranges. From a photographic standpoint, my heart sank. I photographed a few spots but I ended up driving home mostly disappointed. Despite that, I found that I had fallen in love with the Highlands area and knew that it wouldn’t be long before I came back. I kept watching the weather over the next couple of days and about six days later, there was a forecast predicting a cold snap to roll through NC. Knowing that was exactly what the leaves needed to change color, I planned another last minute trip. While driving up through the mountains exactly one week after I had already been up there, I found myself grinning ear to ear as I started winding up those curvy roads and saw that not only had the leaves started their change, they were pretty much at peak color. Mother Nature had worked her magic that fast!

Dry Falls (AKA Upper Cullasaja Falls) is a beautiful waterfall just off of Highway 64 outside of Highlands, North Carolina. Due to it’s accessibility, you have to get there early to avoid all the tourists. Luckily this morning, I was the first one there and was greeted with a bonus of some light mist over the falls and up in the trees. While shooting some verticals of just the falls, I noticed this bright orange tree kept catching my eye over to the right. It was as if the tree was literally begging me to photograph it. So I backed up a little and recomposed a wider shot to balance the falls on the left with the tree on the right. Processing this one has me pumped for this year… fall color is just around the corner!

Thanks for looking! I appreciate all feedback and faves!

this bench that is in the water in Lake McCullom has become one of my favorite subjects to photograph especially around sunset....i have photographed this bench in so many different angles and am just waiting to post some more of those somewhere down the line......this was still shot using a circular polarizer and then tonemapped a litte bit to get a darker silhoutte.....pls. First set of photos from the New Year and things are off to a great start with a lovely sunset over the western Twin City. To my luck, the city's lights came on just prior to the sun going down fully. This is a rework of a previously posted photo. Enjoy!
