For supper tonight my wife made chicken and cheese Calzones with marinara sauce and butternut squash. She also fixed a spinach salad and we had pie and vanilla bean cake for dessert.
We got Calzones for dinner after sculpture class tonight. I am having half of an anchovy/spinach/cheese calzone. I will cut the other half into two portions for quick breakfasts.
We also had spinach and green beans as a side dish.
I bolused 4.25 for the calzone, but I waited until I had eaten some before bolusing, since I am starting a little low.
After driving far-far-far to go to the creperie on 2nd Street in tha LBC only to find it had been transformed into a Lebanese Cafe, we ended up at the Shore House Cafe. This is the calzone w/garlic, pepperoni, mushrooms and bacon. The best part is the grease.

Viajeros del Metro de se quitaron este domingo los pantalones y se han quedado en ropa interior en los vagones del suburbano para participar en el evento organizado por el movimiento 'Día sin pantalones en el Metro’. I made calzone's tonight. Actually, I think they're considered stromboli, since I added the sauce to the inside instead of having it on the side. They were super yummy, but I used the Pillsbury pizza crust which is a little sweeter than I like my crust. Next time, I'll have to make my own or the get the pre-made dough from Trader Joe's.
These have italian sausage, zucchini, mushrooms, parmesan cheese, and sauce. I'm not really a big fan of tomato sauce, so I added some sour cream to tone down the tomato flavor.

Oh man, I feel hungry just looking at this. I use my yeast pizza dough recipe to make calzones. The batch made four, perfect for two suppers.

I made this calzone on April 28, 2013, out of 9-grain bread with Italian sausage, goat cheese, and olive oil.

Everyone knows the traditional Neapolitan calzone filled with ricotta cheese,mozzarella, pepper, salami and ham( and NOTHING else), but few know the calzone stuffed with escarole sautéed with capers, black olives, salted anchovies and smoked provola cheese that has a history much older! a pizza that was made in the days of Lent and on Friday when Christians Catholics can not eat meat.
Few pizzerias that still offer it because many customers do not like too many vegetables on the pizza!
like other pizzas of this pizzeria the calzone is abundantly out of the dish and easily exceeds half a kilo of weight.
