An EMD GP38-2 doing some yard work, as it has been for a few weeks around here. This is a great-sounding engine, so much different from the newer GE stuff running around. One day I'll take a video of it working. This was built as PC 8050 in February 1973 and then later became Conrail 8050. The scene is the CSX yard in Connellsville, on the western end. The temperature here was a brisk 15 degrees.

CSX juice train loaded and headed north. I ran over to the tracks when I heard the crossing signal. But didn't have enough time to get to the other side to put the sun behind me.
CSX GP38-2 #2788 awaits its turn outside the Bryan Park repair facility in Richmond, VA. This unit was built in August, 1978 for Conrail as GP38-2 #8219. It was sent to CSX in the breakup of Conrail.

CSX M523-10 (Nashville,TN-Mobile,AL) is making the pull out on the B-Line out of the west Radnor Yard Lead for Mobile, AL on this cool August evening, but before the 10K long freight could get out of the terminal it will have to come to a stop so the carman could place an EOT on the bottom of the freight at the Sidco Drive grade crossing. CSXT Nº 1899 Pere Marquette Heritage Unit had made its debut to the CSX Heritage Fleet on the 1st of May of this year. The Pere Marquette Railroad, operating in the Great Lakes region in the U.S. and part of southern Ontario, Canada, derived its name from Jacques Marquette, a notable French Jesuit missionary credited with founding Michigan's first European settlement in Sault Ste Marie. On June 1st, 1947, The PM merged with the C&O which would eventually become part of the CSX System. A fairly clean motor for it being in revenue service for 3 months.

5472 was built in April of 2007.
CSX P927-09 glides through West Trenton led by an ES44AH/ES40DC duo with the last move of the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey "Red Unit" Circus Train, which was headed home to Florida after completing their final show in Providence, RI. The consist was a short 22 cars after leaving a bulk of the train in Oak Island, where some cars would head to new homes, and others would join the blue unit consist in the coming weeks. May 10, 2017.
