My wish for me is the same as my wish for you: peace, love, joy, and health.
We can't control the comings and goings of others into and out of our lives. We can only try to make it as lovely for them as possible while they're here.
Unless, of course, they're assholes.
However you choose to celebrate Christmas—whether it's with Chinese food and a movie, like my people, or with a baked ham and singing or passed out in a chair in front of the TV—I hope you do it with people you love and who love you back.
It not only gets you through the inevitable tragedies, but it magnifies the joy. May we be abundant in joy.
Ready? Go!

Louis Lovett read out Grannys letter to the people of Limerick at the turning on of Limerick Christmas Lights on Bedford Row in the city.
Christmas was magically unwrapped in Limerick with the most enchanting ever switching on of the city’s festive lights to a captivated crowd in the city centre.
Children and parents from across the city, neighbouring counties and even up the West coast and Dublin watched on in wonder at the unfolding launch of the ‘Christmas in Limerick’ spectacular.
The show capped a year of stunning theatre and performance across Limerick and was put on by Big House Productions, who were also project directors of the biggest street carnival in Ireland this year – the September hosting of the Royal de Luxe extravaganza that attracted 250,000 people to Limerick to see the 25ft tall Granny in the high point of celebrations for its National City of Culture status.
The thousands who turned up today expecting more of the same were not disappointed as among the highlights of the 45 minute performance was the opening of a Christmas Card to the people of the city and county from Limerick’s favourite Granny herself.

I finally got my camera back from a Christmas visit with my wife's mom. I left it over there by mistake and have not had it for several days. One of the younger kids on my wife's side got this mask for Christmas. He was enjoying this gift immensely.
Christmas is a festive time in the "Land of the Midnight Sun."

Thanks for stopping by...Happy Holidays!
Another Christmas passion - Nativity sets. Here's my story on that: I found the cardboard "stable" at a flea market for $1.00 about 15 years ago. It was exactly like the one I had as a child. There was no holy family, just the stable, so of course, I needed one. I began to scour 2nd hand stores and antique shops, looking all over for one. I could never find one with the baby, Jesus. I was very disappointed. One day, Bill came into the kitchen from the garage holding a surprise in his hand. It was the baby Jesus laying in a cardboard manger! All the years of my searching, and I didn't know that we had a full set of chalkware figures packed away in the garage! They had belonged to Bill's Aunt Anne! Story sound familiar - it's under the photo shown below!
A blanket of Christmas lights in the old city center of Cluj, Romania. You can see the City Hall in the front. Yet another handheld nightshot. Next time I'll get my tripod. :)
I've decided to get a little crafty and am making Christmas stockings this year. They're going to each have a patch on the front with an initial which can be buttoned on and off (for when different family comes for christmas).
Residents, staff, volunteers and families gathered at Berryhill Village to turn on the Christmas lights.
Me displaying our game hens on Christmas Day. I'm wearing my new Christmas hoodie, sent by Chad's folks. It says "Chicago" all over it, with various Windy City landmarks and some sparkly bits. It made me feel like I was surrounded by family, home, and love from far away.
In case you are wondering what the heck that stuff on the stove is, Chad made it. It's sweet potatoes with marshmallows melted on top. Soooo midwestern.
Little wooden boxes wich I covered with crochet candy cane stripes and placed a holly leaf (Attic 24) on. Put two little candles in it and it makes a great present! I hope to sell them at a very low key christmas market in a local petting zoo.
Christmas Day 1985 sees a deserted Newport bus station with on the extreme right my trusty Volvo 244 YJH 954T. Demolition is well advanced of what was originally Canning Day; the Vauxhall dealers premises: to the left of the excavator is the old Parish Hall and to the right the former Courage warehouse.
