So I decided to create this image last night because for one I absolutely love christmas! and two I have missed putting up the christmas tree 2 years in a row at home (which makes me sad), So heres my virtual christmas tree put up! So I wanted to get a shot similiar to the one from two years ago, since i forgot to do one last year. So I told the girls to stand there and point to their favorite one. Jessie picked the one from my friend Kerry. And Sydney picked one from her friend (and school mate) Kayla and her family. :)
Some really awesome cards up there. I really need to step it up next year. Mine were pretty weak compared to several of the ones we received.

And for those of you who think xmas lights bokeh pictures are pointless, read on. There IS a point to this picture :)
This was actually my very non scientific experiment with the out of focus blur patches created by each of the lenses I have.
It's interesting to see that the results differ quite a bit between the different lenses. and I was surprised to see that the 16-35mm 2.8L didn't perform very well in terms of creating smooth and even patches. Whereas the ones from my crappy ultra zoom look pretty pleasant.
Another interesting finding, although not very viable on these small images, was the patches created by 2 of my lenses have some interesting spiral pattern within them. Both of them are zoom lenses which extend when "zoomed".
The winner, IMO, would be the 70-200 F2.8L.
A while back I said I was going to turn this pile of fabric into Christmas bunting.
Here's the results.
I sort of cheated- they're not even sewn together, but it's hardly even noticeable.
There's one hanging over the doorframe into the kitchen too!

Brampton gets ready for Christmas 2022
Brampton, Cumbria
Brampton is a small market town, civil parish and electoral ward within the City of Carlisle district of Cumbria, England, about 9 miles (14 km) east of Carlisle and 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Hadrian's Wall. Historically part of Cumberland, it is situated off the A69 road which bypasses it. Brampton railway station, on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, is about a mile outside the town, near the hamlet of Milton.
St Martin's Church is famous as the only church designed by the Pre-Raphaelite architect Philip Webb, and contains one of the most exquisite sets of stained glass windows designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, and executed in the William Morris studio.
The town was founded in the 7th century as an Anglian settlement.
Brampton was granted a Market Charter in 1252 by King Henry III, and became a market town as a result.
During the Jacobite rising of 1745, Charles Edward Stuart stayed in the town for one night, marked by a plaque on the wall of the building (a shoe shop) currently occupying the location; here he received the Mayor of Carlisle who had been summoned to Brampton to surrender the city to the Young Pretender. The Capon Tree Monument, to the south of the town centre, commemorates the 1746 hanging of six Jacobites from the branches of the Capon Tree, Brampton's hitherto traditional trysting place.
In 1817 the Earl of Carlisle built the octagonal Moot Hall, which is in the centre of Brampton and houses the Tourist Information Centre. It replaced a 1648 building which was once used by Oliver Cromwell to house prisoners.
Much of Brampton consists of historic buildings built of the local red sandstone.

Those that can act and remember the lines of the play get the best parts, everyone else is in the choir, if you can't remember the words, just make it look like you know them.
If you needed glasses, there were two types, a wire design as worn by the boy in front (typical British school boy of the 1950s to 1960s in glasses) often in either blue or pink, sometimes brown, or a plastic frame in brown or black, these normally broke after a short time either across the nose bar or at the hinge side, the method of repair was a piece of self adhesive sticking plaster, the repairs often had to last for up to a year.
A few children (not normally found in council schools) had parents who paid for private frames for their children's glasses, and some quite good designs could be found.
The standard NHS children's specs that were designed in the late 1940s lasted up to the mid 1970s Many children preferred to suffer and go without glasses due to the amount of teasing for any child wearing them received at the time.
