YAY! Just one more week until Christmas!
Poor Joey has caught a pretty nasty 'bug' and is home sick. I can remember being sick at Christmas as a kid, it sure stinks! I hope he gets better soon and doesn't give it to his Mommy and I. ;-)
My very first Christmas dinner at home with Sebastian.
Roasted turkey breast with cranberry sauce, garlic and thyme roasted potato wedges, sweet potato puree, brussels sprouts with applewood bacon and maple butter glazed carrots
After Christmas last year I went out and bought a purple table cloth, and so I've waited nearly a year to be able to use it for my Christmas table!! Here is the room looking unusually tidy (no phones, laptops, pens, paper, etc!!) - the calm before the storm of Christmas, when the boys will be home!!

I have an interesting anecdote about this picture...
As I was happily snapping away, marvelling at the Christmas ingenuity of this creative display, a young (very young - she looked not much younger than my 19yr old son) cleaning lady approached me to say: "You`re not allowed to take pictures in here."
I stared at her, totally flabbergasted, and said "Why not?"
She merely shrugged her shoulders and said "Je ne sais pas. I don`t know why, but you`re not allowed to take photos." I continued to stare at her, my mouth agape, totally incredulous at this ridiculous idiocy of bureaucracy.
In any case, not having a penchant for 19yr old bureaucratic authority, I rose to the challenge and said "Well... what are you going to do...arrest me? For taking photos of Christmas decorations??"
I mean, what`s up with that? What do they tell the hundreds of tourists that pass through here?
In any case, I wished her a Joyeux Noel, snapped a few more photos, including the one you see here; then merrily went on my way.
Leftover scraps of Christmas fabrics didn't go to waste here. I string-pieced them into a colorful bag in which to do my Christmas shopping. Heavy non-woven interfacing in the body of the bag and Peltex in the bottom allows the open tote to stand on its own.

I was getting them ready to ship and then thought, oh, take a quick pic.... It's only the second time I have ever made reindeer..... I think that they turned out pretty good......

This is the single most important view each Christmas season. The view of the mantle from the Dining Room doorway is special. Always quite different, this year continues that tradition. This is the first year for the Nativity, and for the white train under the fireplace.

Photographed using only available light, and a very long exposure. Shooting data: Nikon D7000. Nikkor 18-55mm lens set at 24mm. 20 seconds @ f/25. EV = -2/3. ISO 500. WB set for cloudy weather / natural light.

i wanted katee, aka little miss gorgeous, to do the 'high five' which she does whenever we ask her .. unfortunately she wouldnt do it properly when she was wearing the santa suit, which didnt fit her coz it was made for a human baby and the proportions were all wrong ..
anyway .. there were some shots that were just hilarious .. i only did two sessions and only for about 10-15 mins each time coz i think she was stressing out a bit .. but she did try ..
